For a bunch of people sailing around raiding and pillaging, the Norse and the viking profession were actually surprisingly progressive for their time- vikings were a much more ethnically-diverse sort than neo-Nazis like to portray them as, and Norse marriages were relatively egalitarian, with the woman being well within her rights to divorce her husband if necessary.

Can I ask why you were so anti-sjw at that time? I lost my best friend because she became so anti-sjw and would just viciously argue with me constantly. And I wasn't like a "feminazi" or whatever, I just took a neutral stance and would occasionally say I found something sexist (when it usually was sexist, like a guy grabbing my boob in a bar without permisson). I just don't get why people were so vicious and hateful when it came to any sort of discussion about social justice. What was your experience?
@@bananamanchester4156 I'd like to share with you my experience, even thou I know I am getting in the middle of your conversation. I too was once a bit radical on my beliefs. Personally the reason why I even became heavily anti-sjw was because of how much radical people on the sjw "side" seemed to be willing to attack anyone outside their group just for "wrong think".
That is the main issue, by going against a group instead of an idea you run the risk of becoming part of a "side". See, when you care about the idea itself you don't care which side came up with it, if it's a bad idea you'll criticize it and if it's a good one, you'll compliment it. However, when you care about a "side" you'll start to defend the side, even the bad ideas, yes even the bad ideas you can clearly tell are bad and disagree with. You'll defend them cause in your mind, if you admit those are bad ideas then you'll be giving ground to the "other side" and you can't allow that because you know they are "evil" and so you must win by any means necessary.
As you can see, this eventually will spiral down into the very thing you were fighting against... wrong think. If someone disagrees with you, then they are part of the "other side".
The truth is that... We were wrong, and I eventually came to realize this. People's ideas are not so simple as to make them fit in one particular box. It is not as simple as saying you're left or you're right. People's ideas don't travel on a street with a limited left, right and middle. No, people's ideas are free and they should stay as such. Even bad ideas should be allowed to exist and we should understand WHY they are bad ideas without shaming them for being bad. After all, it is the knowledge of an idea being bad which stops us from committing horrible mistakes and atrocities.
@@lacius yes, I think you've touched on a very important point here in terms of being part of a "side". I think because I DIDNT take a side I was slated by BOTH sides. I'm so glad people can actually discuss the ideas now and how to actually change things for the better rather than making it a weird pissing contest!
@@MadeUpNoun yeah there's definitely a lot of sensationalism going on :/ I just don't understand how anyone can be motivated to chose a political stance based on hate. Hating things doesn't feel nice (to me anyway). The anti- sjw's seemed completely motivated by hate towards the feminists, and the feminists seemed motivated by hatred towards the anti-sjw's, and neither group was actually doing anything to try and help others or make life better. Then when someone did pop up who seemed to be trying to help (like Laci Green with her sex positive stuff or Daz Black on the other side) they just got trolled to oblivion and silenced.

If you think giving kids hormone blockers is stunning and brave, youre part of the problem. If you think guns kill people, youre part of the problem. It goes way beyond just having a disagreement with someone. The leftist perspective objectively flawed, leading to a self destructive ideology and lifestyle. They destroy everything they touch. Themselves, their family, and friends naive enough to humor them in their delusions.
