    Hi Eric, I've worked with survey data for many years using Excel to create frequency tables and bar charts. I really appreciate your webinar on how to restructure survey data to use in Tableau. Once again, I'd like to commend you on being a really great trainer. The best! Many thanks.

    As a follow up to this brilliant presentation, I'd like to ask this. In Surveys we usually have Sectional questions. how to categorise each question into major category?? for example I have a bunch of ratings, say 20 ratings, these 20 ratings can be summarised into 5 major categories

      Hi! Thanks for the compliment! I think the easiest way to set that up would be with a group in Tableau Prep or Tableau Desktop. Here's a breakdown of ours on how to set that up: onenumber.biz/blog-1/2021/6/9/how-do-tableau-groups-work

    It would help to have the file too to tag along

    Thank you for this wonderful content ! I tried to replicate the exact same procedures but when I join my axis, my bar charts do not align with the axis and stop in the center of the graph. Any ideas why? Have a great day !

      I'm not sure what you mean by that exactly. Does this have to do with fixing the axis for the circle around 24:45 in the video?
      Feel free to shoot me a screenshot at eric.parker@onenumber.biz if that doesn't resolve your issue

      @@onenumbertableau thanks for such a quick reply ! I don't have the same number of responses for each question (not 1000 each but rather 25, 35, 45) so I think this messes up my graph - the bar charts do not align with the axis and my average dots end up in the wrong place (but I keep fiddling! You video is exactly what I needed !)

      @@chloeludden2398 I think your best bet is to turn each bar into a 100% of Total Stacked Bar Chart (How to here: kb.tableau.com/articles/howto/stacked-100-percent-bar-chart)

      @@onenumbertableau Indeed, that looks better! Thank you Teacher :) Just one last inquiry if I may: how can we move the average bubbles so that they don't overlap with the numbers, as in the video? Or at least make them overlap on the correct color scale (AVG: 3.2 in the video should probably not be on the 4 colour on the graph).

      @@chloeludden2398 You're welcome! Honestly, that's probably just trial and error. I would keep adjusting the axis range until it looks the way you want.

    There isn't a branch option in Tableau prep. What do we use instead now? I think there was an update.

    • @onenumbertableau
      @onenumbertableau  2 роки тому

      Hey Brandon! I noticed that update recently too. Now, to create a branch you hover over a step and press the + button that shows up directly after that step. You want to make sure not to select the + button in the middle of a connecting line. That inserts a step instead of branching.
