Pause the video at 0:20. It looks like the bottom of horn is rusty in a star shape. I suppose that the cyclone chopper was rusty so when they switched it on, the chopper blew away it's rust in the horn
@@ACAFan101 it made a beautiful star shape of rust. also was the aca cyclone always meant to be mounted upwards and never sideways or disencouraged cuz the gravity will move spinning components down or not
Sooo the rotor is made out of fiberglass ? That's new to me, as we only have metal ones in Europe. Seems like they have to get another P-50 for parts, as fibreglass is notoriously hard to fix.
No. The horn and body is made of fiberglass. The rotor and stator are aluminum casted. The reason they need a new rotor and stator is because they have friction welded together.
What happened? Was it the chopper/rotor that got caught against the stator that caused it to go Boom? Or was it the motor bearings that caused it to go Boom?
Dude walking up with a single finger in his ear is literally begging for tinnitus
Does that surprise? It’s clear this group ain’t all right…

Damn that horn is like 6 ft in diameter ? it's immense
let's all remember this P-50
It was nice meeting you at Sirencon and I hope we can meet each other at a siren in Wausau
Alot of people including me are headed to rib mountain today for the P-50.
@@ACAFan101 my dad had work unfortunately
It felt like this was underpowered then somehow exploded
If this thing is having a funeral im going
0:19 is so fire
Indeed
One of my favorite sirens showed up but only for a bit before it blew up. Long live the chopper motor.
I want to go to siren con next year badly.
I don't know what I find worse: the goofy windups or the self-destruction.
second week of spotting Börk xd
Unfortunately the windups had to happen due to the generator being kinda too small for the siren.
@@ACAFan101 they had to do that same with the Cyclone from 2023. Those bad Bois draw insane amount of power
@@ACAFan101 An ACA P-50 how much Power draws? And an ACA cyclone how much draws? Max Power rating of the generator used in question?
@@ACAFan101 I know. It happened with the Cyclone last year too.

@@polygoned_cheese The chopper is made of aluminum. Aluminum cannot rust. It corrodes.

@@ACAFan101 still it is rusty at the bottom
That’s sad i hope it can be fixed our restored
Not without a new stator...
The stator can be rewound at a electric motor rewinding shops
It also sounded bearings were not in great shape either
@@Funkybulb The stator is welded to the rotor and cracked in 5 places. Very unlikely to be repaired and is most likely scrap.
@@ACAFan101 I think I read that this siren reuses the rotor/stator of another design, is that correct?
@@blockstacker5614 Yes, in particular the ACA Cyclone 120.

@RealToothless Yea it is lol

@@ACAFan101 Ahh got it. I hope there are enough scrap P50s to pull the necessary parts from.
Either that or you have to 3D print Parts for the .@@djkarcher1896
@ACAFan101 I know how to fix the stator... Sledge hammer...
Fiberglass flew inside the rotor and stator, making it blow up. But nice catch!
Read the description a little closer . You are partially correct as that is what causes the micro cracks when it was in service.
