Atmospheric haunted house films are my single favorite genre/subgenre of film. I LOVE haunted house films. I'd call this "mid". Mid as hell, honestly. It IS gorgeous but it is, for the overwhelming most part, about as scary, creepy, whatever as Disney's Haunted Mansion. In fact, I'd say that's EXACTLY what it is... Haunted Mansion if it made the mistake of taking itself seriously. CGI ghosts are a tragic artistic choice. A generous C+. I'm feeling charitable.
Far better? The Others. Not nearly as glossy and expensive, just much, much better.
Somewhat better? The Daniel Radcliff Woman In Black. Pretty flawed, but better than Crimson Peak, for sure.

The ghosts aren’t entirely CGI. Only like 5% of them mixed with a full practical costume. There’s an entire special feature on this disc that we go into detail about! Personally we feel like that was well done. But that’s our personal feelings!

@@FromScreenToShelf My feelings about the CGI ghosts don't constitute a decent fraction of why this film is so underwhelming. They were a bad choice but only one of many. Two painfully bland leads is a deadly combo. Hiddleston and the blonde could cure insomnia forever.
Got the BD disc already.
No need for 4K on this one.
