The perfect way for a romantic introvert to take revenge on his unfaithful wife is to finally win her love… then die before she can enjoy it and leave her wallowing in guilt. Flawless victory 💔
It takes getting rejected by Charlie Thundercock, fly half way around the world, survive a cholera outbreak to realize what she had as her husband dies. God women love these movies….
I'm in a complete denial with regards to this ending. As an act of preservation my mind has refused to acknowledge the fact he dies. So I live pretending that they both returned and lived long lives together. I don't think I will even be able to face the truth.
When an actress or actor can make me cry or want to, they have done there job. Watts here pulls it off along with a great song, I understand it is called, A La Claire Fontaine.
He was too good for her and she knew that. God only takes those back early that God loves . Atleast in the next life he will find someone who will genuinely care for him . He deserves better .
Life and love can be fleeting you never know when a loved one will b gone, as far as that song those French children were great, and if you look up the lyrics it is quiet little childrens song but it hits the mark here, and yes I did cry, because people can if they have an honest heart can fall in love, when they did not feel that way at first, and then you get that picture of the little fellow at the end, clearly Walters child, how great was that how great a movie.
Naomi Watts is great here this little movie turned out to me to be great, this scene when those children start to sing, sometime I don't know where it came from but I started to cry, Watts is great here. What is this song someone please tell me I absolutely have to know, please.
R K Yeah , I did find that. Great little song, beautiful too. A La Claire Fontana. I must say in this movie here toward the end I did get a little watery eyed.
Kitty began looking at Walter in a different light when the Sisters informed Kitty how much Dr. Fane loves babies and spends as much time as possible helping them out of the nursery. From there we see glimpses of how both of their perceptions of each other changes as the film evolves toward its sad ending.

Sin duda, el amor de nuestra pareja , es una probadita del amor de Dios. Pensar que algún día nos separaremos es durísimo. Guardamos la esperanza en Dios de volver a vernos en la eternidad de su misericordia! Es una promesa de Jesús!!!
Why did she start crying while reading the notes. Could it be that there she found out that Walter had been experimenting on himself like in the books? Did any one feel this way?
I think the realization set in that she would never see him again, when my mom died, we took her to the hospital, and she expired, and all the while I was being strong for the women in our family, when we got back home and got out of the car I knew I was about to lose it, so I faked like I had to go the bathroom, and let me tell you I cried like never before or since, because coming into the house I realized, oh shit my mom is gone, and I will NEVER see her again, in this life. That is what I think may have happened here. However I did not read the book so I could be wrong.
@@ericday4505 I understand and feel your point Brother. I think that was the reason for breaking down as before all this she was just numb and processing things.
@unicornowner9993 It took a while, for me, and our family was tight, at that time anyway, but I just remembered the great times we had, and to that story, as I came out the bathroom, and sat on the bed my brother came over and said, don't cry Eric, we will see her again, and his voice had an authority that I never heard him speak with before that, so instantly, right then I knew I would see her again.
She realized the dedication of Walter’s into finding a cure for cholera and the fact that the notes were in his handwriting moves her very much. She had a new appreciation of Walter in that moment, along with many other subsequent moments.
Then the ending to the movie is so much better... in fact, the final scene of this movie is my favorite part. It shows how her experiences with her husband helped develop and enrich her character/personality
It doesn't matter who made the child, it matters who would have been there to raise them. If Walter had lived he would have been there for the kid. He is the only real father
@@SunDarling369 It matters our history and origin matters very deeply to us. Everyone looks in the mirror sees something in common with their father, mother, grandmother etc all the family. I was so disappointed with the ending also it should have been a happy ending he forgiving her and both of them going back to live their lives peacefully and happily
A very sad scene. Very good scene, showing at last how much Kitty and Walter loved each other. Now that french song is useless. They could have found an other one.
@@namyarasree You know if I had heard that song before, and knew it's meaning I absolutely can understand your point, but for many who don't speak french, or ever heard this song before it hit the mark, I will say when I learned it was a children's song, I was a bit puzzled.
The perfect example of "he loved her too early and she loved him too late"...
More like whore fucked around and found out
So true...heartbreaking
Thats exactly what I thought!
I really felt bad
But they did meet again in love with each other having evolved and grown individually and separately.

Perfectly said
fella said Flawless Victory like it's a mortal kombat game 😭😭😭
Dont forget he left her a kid too to remind her of him everyday for the rest of her life :) Flawless victory indeed
The kid wasn't his.

The way she reacts when she sees the woman taking his microscophe and his notes away always breaks my heart
But what in the notes that make her cry? Please explain to me🙏🙏
In his research notes. She cries seeing what is left of him from losing him.
the maid wanted to throw away his personal items to avoid the spread of the infection.
An act of reclaiming Walter ..
I will always love this movie!!! When those kids start to sing ,thats when the tears start to flow!
Tracey those babies get me almost everytime, right knowing she has one inside of her too. Great movie very underated.
He loved her but she didn't love him back ,then she loved him but he died 🥺

In the book she still never falls for him in the end. It's even more gut-wrenching.
No! Why?! Why are you doing this to me, you evil person? My heart... ;)
I was waiting for her to fall for Walter the whole time, but it never happened...breaks my heart
Jordan Evans did he left you?
Blue box chill out, just a fictional movie, not even based on actual people, yes very sad however, and I did tear up. But com on.

this song is "a la claire fontaine" french's song sorry i don't speak english
Naomi Watts should have won best actress for her role here.
I agree with you! Edward Norton also should have won best actor in my opinion !
They were both great here yes, Especially Watts.
Naomi what?
One of the finely crafted scenes I have ever seen in any film.
