UPDATE 1: The prices in this video have gone up since recording this (roughly 10-15%) UPDATE 2: There is now a 5th championship in Club 100. It’s called the Club 100 Experience, it’s designed for new drivers to club 100 and has 6 rounds costing £210 each!
Totally agree man! I probably didn’t outline it very well in the video, but EBay is a great place to get your stuff! It’s just hard to base figures off of the the prices on there, so I didn’t use it. Thanks though pal! 👌
Bit late to the party but im starting club 100 in june at Clay pidgeon, got my practice session / assesment on saturday and waiting for them to get back to me for deposits... cant wait its gonna be awesome!
Hi Sam, I've commented on a few of your videos last year but wanted to say now that - in no small part thanks to your channel - I am driving in the Novice 'experience' Club100 championship this year and am loving it! Just finished round 2 and having a blast. Other channels like Super GT is how I found out about Club 100 but it was your funny and humble 'rookie' videos, plus this one, that actually persuaded me to give it a go, and it's so fun! Thank you :)
Hey man! Ah thank you so much!! You’ve put a smile on my face with this! How’s the championship going for you atm? I hope you stick around for when my new videos finally come out haha
@@SMorrisHD I will definitely stick around! Championship is going OK thanks, finished a bit lower down Round 1 at Shenington as I had an off but Round 2 managed to get pole in qualifying and second place in the race 1 :) Mostly just having an amazing time driving these brilliant karts.
Great video mate, im 13 and ive started karting too, but i barely can buy things because i dont have a lot of money. Im now starting to film some SimRacing to see if im lucky enough to gain money
I do all three champs, pay for the team race myself and also put up the team racers in air bnb. Most rounds I stay over 3x nights as I don’t drive home most Sunday nights. Without including petrol or food for the weekends I spend around £20,000 a season for the C100 racing. (This includes the PFI 6hr) My kit budget is usually £2-5k a year as well depending on what I get each year. I replace most of my kit twice a year usually.
20,000 on c100? Why? That would put you right at the sharp end of the Senior X30 or Senior Rotax grid.... Thats proper racing, laptimes are 10-20 seconds faster than c100 and its your own kart
@@ryanmicallef7098 that includes all 3 champs as well as stopovers, a lot of those are 3 nights for me. I don’t race owner driver or x30 because it’s too fast for me, there’s too much risk of injury. I stay because I love the format and how they run the championships and spend time with the friends I’ve made there.
@@SMorrisHD haha it's a body beater ask anyone that has raced there that will be the first thing they say I bet 😂😂😂 home of the british 24hr!! brilliant race
What means One Round? Like, for the sprint series is 3 races with 10 minutes? And maybe you could talk about the 4 stroke rental karts, isnt there any championships with then? Probaly really more cheaper then Club 100. In Brazil, our amateur championship races with 4 stroke, 15HP Karts are about R$ 150 (reais) aprox 25 euros, the races have 25 minutes, it is consider a really expensive sport for most people here. And there is no 2 stroke engine karts for rental racing.
Yeah, one round is 3 heats and the final(s), championship dependent obviously. I am planning to at some point man! Covid getting in the way again 😢 Ah damn, ill have to check it out! Thanks for sticking around watching my videos again! 😊
apparantly, its meant to be none cheque book racing, but if you want to run at the front you end up having to do the enduro the day before at the very least to be 'on it' like the rest of the front runners. therefore it very much is cheque book racing!
Recently discovered your channel and really enjoy the videos. Congrats on the 🏆👍. Great insight into getting started in Club 💯. As a fellow lightweight, your video on the gear was really helpful.
Just a question. I weigh 78kg without kit or helmet. Are the minimum/maximum weights including kit and helmet? Which series do you recon I would be best suited for?
Hey sorry for the late reply! Its a tough one but I would lean towards heavyweight mate. All of your gear will weigh an extra 3-5kg or so, so all you would need is either a weighted seat insert or a few bits of ballast to reach the minimum weight in the heavyweight (90kg) Better than being at a disadvantage in the lightweights!
From memory they have to be approved outdoor suits. But i would say noone really goes around checking them as everyone has outdoor suits anyway. As long as your suit is in good condition (i.e. no holes/rips/tears) and covers you safely with it not being too loose you should be okay. If you're struggling to get hold of a suit, some circuits (not all) offer hire suits for the day. Which can save you money if you just want to try it out! Buckmore Park, Whilton Mill and Bayford Meadows i know for sure can lend suits, im sure a couple more tracks would do the same. At the end of the day, its down to you to make sure that you've got the right gear to race safely, generally across the board the more expensive something is, the more safe it is. Hope this helps!
@@SMorrisHD thanks that's really helpful... called club100 today and they explained they can offer basics... helmet suit and gloves... im trying to arrange to get onto this year's season on waiting lists 👍
good breakdown cheers mate, always been interested in giving it a go. can you rent gear there by chance? if not, did you just bite the bullet initially and drop a grand on your outfit and accessories?
Thanks man! Certain tracks can offer you gear, Im sure Buckmore can lend you a suit, helmet and gloves. Club 100 can lend weights and seat inserts. But with covid rules at the moment im not sure what their plans will be regarding loaning gear in the upcoming season. Sorry! I bought the the majority of the stuff initially, i waited for a bit to get my rainsuit, rib protector and a couple more weights! Thanks for watching!
Thank you! There are 2 different championships within the Young drivers championship. These being: Lightweight and the super lightweight. In both of these classes there is an entry limit minimum weight (what you have to weigh before all of your gear) and the championship minimum racing weight (all of your gear, extra weight etc.) Lightweight: Entry - 63kg Championship - 70kg Super-Lightweight: Entry - 48kg Championship - 60kg Hope this helps! What would be the bare minimum price be if I was say to go to the pre-season test + 1 round of the sprint series whilst using as much provided gear at the track as possible? Also for the shoes is it necessary to buy karting shoes or if I'm only to go to one round to try could I just turn up in trainers?
it would cost £329 (1 round, test and registration), certain tracks like Buckmore Park and Whilton Mill can loan gear to you so you wont need to spend anything there.(Sorry i didnt highlight that in the video!) But im unsure whether they charge a fee for cleaning due to covid (i cant imagine it to be expensive if it has a price though.) Yes you can wear trainers as long as they are suitable. So yeah £329 bare minimum
@@SMorrisHD Are you sure about that, Sam? I thought that now Club 100 had come under Motorsport UK rules, the homologation and other kart rules were adopted, and therefore boots have to cover the ankle, as per gold book? But not sure...
Do you know what cc the karts in club 100 are? I want to do a club 100 season next year but when looked on their website it says the karts are 125cc? The karts my local track always had were 390cc but they have recently done away with them and the adult karts are now all 270cc. Under 16’s have 200cc and my 7 year old daughter has to use 120cc and they crawl around which is fine for a 7 year old but definitely not for an adult, am I missing something? Is my local karting track turning the output on the karts down to save fuel because the 120cc is slow as hell and the 270cc are just about acceptable for speed but certainly not fast……
I don’t think it’s that simple! It depends if you can afford the expenditure of going karting (usually once per month) without screwing yourself over financially.

Ah man i missed this comment!! Sorry! Yeah it is pricey mate. Tbh with you thats just a massive issue with motorsport in general. I dread to think how many kids have dreams of racing professionally, just to be priced out of it. Hopefully in years to come it'll change for the better!
