Thank you so much for helping, I have got a full track race here ( for the junior rookie ) and I really want to win and move up. You are 100% going to be the reason why I win and move it to the Club! I am confident I’m going to win in august - full track!
Hi Steve, love all your karting videos including the ones you post on the Super GT channel. You should start a series on karting how-to/tips such as improving cornering, braking techniques, etc! Sending love from India. :)
Loving your kart videos Steve spesh since I have downloaded kart mod for rFactor 1 and some of the tracks you race on. Great mod and more fun than a face full of fan knees. If you know wot I mean.
@@harryeyre1322 Huddersfield, unfortunately we didn't go to the qualifiers so we're on reserves :( But, saying that, the track guides will still be useful!
Not sure if you still check this channel, but would you say the brakes on these are more similar to the 9HP rental karts or competition karts. Flying across the pond to try it out in February!
Thanks for this Guide Steve! I have 2 questions for you: 1) Should I adapt this line in anyway to suit the public rental karts? 2) I notice due to the power of the club 100 karts you can rotate them quite easily, should I attempt to slightly rotate the rental karts under braking, or should I avoid rotation (and minimize trailbraking) I get lots of different advice for the best braking strategies, but would love to hear your point of view. Cheers man
Hi James. 1) I think the lines in this guide would pretty much work in the rental karts. I havn't driven them in a while though so can't 100% confirm but I don't think they'd be too far off. 2) Hard to say again given that I havn't driven them in ages but rotating a kart on the brakes is usually a good thing if you do it right. Rental karts usually understeer loads so if you can manage that by using the brakes well, then by all means do it.
Steve, couple of us from across the pond are looking at some potential 24hr events in the UK in 2021. What should we be looking out for? Information seems hard to come by!
Wish I'd watched this before Sunday! Great video - I was using pretty much the same sorts of lines except I was a little deep on entry of Pullmans so lost some time there. I think the rest of my time comes from not driving the kart properly - I've not done any real Kart racing until Club100 last weekend so my steering inputs are very smooth and gradual, however it seems almost everyone faster than me was giving it a big flick of lock on entry to the corner? What's the reason for this and why is it quicker? It seems very specific to karting, how does it make you quicker? TIA!
Yeah, aggressive steering really works on these karts mainly because of the hard tyres. If you're gradual with the steering on entry, it takes ages for the kart to turn. Aggressive steering may look bad, but what really actually matters is the pitch or rotation of the kart. As long as you're not doing it too much such that the kart begins drifting then it's all good.
Hey. I’m in the Club 100 YDC and I’m racing at Buckmore park for the final round of the championship. And I just want to know how to get more consistent. Because in R1 at Whilton Mill I was too 5 on pace but I crashed in quali so started 20th. Got up to 10th in race 1 and was running 4th in race two (or 5th) and was catching the pack in front of me but I made a mistake and managed about 13th. At Rye House I was very slow at first qualified 17/30 so not great but by the end of the day I was lapping 2 tenths of the leaders in my class so the pace was eventually there. I believe I can fight for podiums, maybe a win on the odd occasion but I’m a rookie so don’t have the consistency for that yet and that’s what I want to work on so yh. What’s your advice or me. Sorry this was so long. 👍
I’m going to Buckmore park this Thursday for the first time, I hear they have the RT10, what’s a good time for someone 105kg in weight with little go kart experience ? Under 60 seconds ?
I did briefly mention a few times that you want to on the power well before the apex in most cases. Will make a note of that though for the next guide.
Hi I have just signed up for young drivers championship and I have always watched your videos but from watching you it looks like you barely turn how do you do it?
Listen Steve. It would be much appreciated if u can do a Whilton Mill guide before the BUKC test in October so that I don’t punt everyone off into the shadow realm. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
It seems like there is a lot of sudden, sharp turns in the kart to get it round a lot of corners, causing it to slide and squeal. Is this a general rule for karting to get better lap times?
Slightly gripper tyres?!? Those Bridgestone are one of the softest tyres for rental karts. The difference for the most used rental tyre, the "Duro" is huge!
@@jmm9437 Yes but I'm basing this on a spectrum of all karting tyres. When you consider that there are ridiculously soft grippy tyres used on the fastest karts in the world, the difference is slight in my opinion.

It's definitely not a general rule. It works in this type of kart because the tyres are very hard.
