  • The Aventon Pace 500 is a price competitive and affordable ($1,399) yet powerful and versatile high speed ebike which aims to give more bang for your buck versus other value priced offerings. The Pace 500 features a capable electric drivetrain sporting a 20mph trigger throttle and a 28mph cadence based pedal assist, each complimented well by the stopping power of hydraulic disc brakes. A overall comfortable ride with relaxed ergonomics and thoughtful finishing touches like reflective sidewall tick tires, also comes in a variety of size and color options for both frames. To keep the price low, some tradeoffs are to be considered, no suspension, no intergraded lights, no USB charging, but the big one to keep in mind is the assembly you may have to do on your own, however, you can always get some help from a bike shop, mobile service, or use their instructional videos.

    I just bought one and it had to shipped to Glens Falls NY. I ordered and added fenders and a rear rack. I put it together myself. I’m 69 yrs. and since I haven’t ridden a bike in twenty years I tested my work & my skills without the battery . That being accomplished and satisfactory I proceeded with the battery boost levels and found myself laughing and amazingly younger. I have been wearing out my lower body by walking to benefit my heart. Since 2011 , I’ve worked my way up to walking distances from 11 to 5 miles a day. Sadly , I’ve needed knee and hip shots to continue and finally sidelined with severe plantar fasciitis . Being a retired Lineman , I need my 3 to 4 hours outdoors nearly every day. This should do it for me. Keeping a save heart rate while basically getting progressively stronger workout and being outside is awesome! Thankyou for your reviews. I liked the ECBikes also !

      I am hoping to find a bike that fits my 5'3-5'4" 67 year old body and puts a smile on my face. Hoping it won't cost me the $3400 or so I think it could. What are you doing about lights? I'm turned off by the lack of integrated lighting.

    I just purchased the step through in Celeste (seafoam). I own a RadRover and thought I would purchase the Rad City step thru in black. However, after seeing this bike and test riding it, I had to have it. Rad Power bikes are awesome-the support is great. I love my fatbike, except for the cumbersome 63# weight! This bike is perfect for street, path, city riding. At under 50#, it is a breeze to load and unload on a bike carrier. In two days, I have ridden 26 comfortable miles, and only used barely a tenth of the battery. Very happy so far.

    I love mine. Fast, battery lasts, and huge smiles. Being lighter than their flagship level bike, it is much easier to load on my bike rack. No fenders, but the lighter weight makes up for it. I could not be happier. Great job Aventon!

    Highly recommended.
    Im an avid biker & have owned many classic bikes & 3 ebikes in the past. I just bought an Aventon Pace 500 Stepthrough with 750 watts motor top speed is 28 mph, 20 mph on throttle only. In my opinion this is the best affordable ebike made with excellence in craftsmanship, engineering and design. I have nothing negative to say. I am in love with my Aventon Pace 500 Stepthrough. It is perfect. I love the Stepthrough design. No need to lift my leg to mount it. It is a lightweight 48 pounds. Powerful and quiet that can go uphill like a breeze, great powerful hydraulic disc brake, great pedal assist which helps me at the traffic light stop for an easy & fast get away with just a light pedaling. The Samsung battery is a powerful 48 volts with a range of 30 miles. To use the thumb throttle you have to pedal first to activate the thumb throttle which is a safety feature & I agree. The wide lcd display shows the distance, speed, battery gauge. Shimano Altus8 speed shifter is also great.

    Your videos helped me with my research in purchasing my wife's ebike. After months of looking at various options, we decided to go with the Pace 500. It is by far the best value for all the features and design. I ride Trek Domane SL6 Disc and hydraulic disc brakes are such a great safety feature in my view and Pace 500 comes with hydraulic disc brakes. Ride1up Core features very similar features but only comes in one size which is no go for my petite sized wife. All in all, we are looking forward to the new bike. Again thanks for the review and keep up the good work!

    I just purchased a Pace 500, and am thrilled with it so far. It was easy to assemble (less assembly on the crossbar model than the step-through) and was up and running (including charging the battery) within about two hours from when the box was delivered. Definitely a good value.

    Had been looking at E-bikes for awhile and after checking out the website and this review, went ahead and purchased this in black. Getting it in Tuesday and can't wait~
    Update: I do love the bike. My only complaint is that it is very, very stiff and rigid. Meaning, as long as you are on flat ground and streets you have a very smooth ride and the power in the bike is awesome. But any kind of bump or rough patch of road you hit, you’re gonna feel all the way up into your teeth. The seat itself is very comfortable and springy, but there is absolutely zero shock absorption built into the bike. Not that I was expecting this to be a mountain bike feel with shocks, but it was definitely a bit more jarring then I was expecting. My only other complaint is that I hear something rolling around in the back tire. I have about 100 miles on the bike so I’m not sure if it’s normal tire wear and possibly a piece of that rolling inside or what. But other than that the quality of this bike is outstanding. I’m getting great battery life (living in Dallas) and love cruising it through the city.

    • @dgsouter
      @dgsouter 5 років тому +4

      I had that "something rolling around" in back tire, too. Bike shop said it was a loose spoke nut. Easily fixed. Also, the ride was very hard, but I found deflating the tires from 60 to 40 psi softened the ride a bit and adding a Thudbuster to the seat post helped, too.

    • @jude7225
      @jude7225 5 років тому +2

      Dennis Souter thanks for the reply. I think I have seen that the loose spoke nut or something is pretty common so it’s good to see it wasn’t a major thing. Removing the tires is about the extent of my knowledge so I will have someone fix that for me. Also while I’m sure the seat addition or post would probably help too, I’ve mellowed a bit on my stance on it’s “stiffness”. I’ll admit that a big part of that was me simply forgetting that standing when going over rough patches will let your body or legs absorb a lot of the shock too, just a simple thing I had forgotten for not riding in so long. Lol. Granted it’s still not as flexible as a full mountain bike of course, but not nearly as tough as I was suggesting.

    Great review.
    I was fortunate, that a local bike shop (ATV Wholesale Outlet, near Sacramento CA.)
    caries the Aventon brand, including the Pace 500, in different sizes/colors, and frame types.
    Before I went there. I had all kinds of questions, about what kind of e-bike, would be right for me.
    My main use will be for riding on paved bike trails, with some limited use on hard packed dirt trails.
    I was wondering if the fat tire models were something I would like, how much power would work for me,
    whether to get a top bar, or step through frame, what size, and if I would like the swept back handlebars, better than straight.
    I quickly ruled out the fat tire models, because they were way to heavy, for me.
    I needed something I could lift up, when needed, and I could easily lift the Pace.
    Do to research online, I was already interested in the Aventon Pace 500.
    I was able to test drive the medium and small frames in both step through, and top bar.
    I am 5'7" tall, and felt much more comfortable on the small frame.
    I chose the top bar frame, because it felt stiffer to me, and I would be able to hang it on the bike carrier I already own.
    The hand grips, handle bar geometry, and location of controls, all felt perfect for me.
    I want to ride in a more upright position, and the Pace allowed me to do that in comfort.
    One thing that surprised me... there were two different, gear shift lever types, on the different Pace 500 models I tried.
    While both types, have their shift levers, located on the underside of the handlebars....
    One type shifted up, with push of thumb, and down, with pull on index finger.
    The other one (I did not like at all), required you to use your thumb, to both push for shift up, and also use thumb, to push for shift down.
    If I had purchased without test drive first, I would not have known about this.
    I was impressed, by how much power it had, when using the electric motor.
    And equally impressed by how easy it was to pedal, without the motor on.
    While my intention was originally to buy on line, I can not stress enough, how important, test driving the different models was, in choosing the right one for me.
    So I will definitely be purchasing from the local store.
    PS, folks at the ATV Wholesale Outlet store, were really kind/helpful, and did not treat me with condescending attitude,
    like I have received at some other local bike stores.
    In conclusion, my mind has been put to rest, now that I was able to try different e-bikes, before plunking down my hard earned cash.
    Now I am very excited to pick up my new bike, next Tuesday, and go riding on my local bike trails 😀🚲

    Great seller in our store by spring time they are going to offer a 36 Volt battery 350 Watt motor with down graded mechanical brakes and it’s suggested retail price is going to be $999 it’s going to sell like hot cakes. We have put in a preorder for 10 of them and it has a smoother power delivery the baby bloomers are going to love it. Sidenote : Court it takes us 45 minutes to put one of these bikes together and we’ve even considered raising the price by $50 if we assemble it less if it’s purchased in the box the reason for this is the shop or end user has to not only install petals, seat, handlebars, front wheel but also the rear wheel, derailleur, and calipers to. The reason for this is to save on shipping cost of the box. It’s much smaller when you break the bike down that much, just be sure if you’re gonna buy this online directly from the manufacture or from a dealer that your mechanically inclined or make arrangements with someone that is or take it to a bicycle shop to have your bike assembled properly

I have 3 motorcycles on the road (and a convertible, and a truck) so it's not like I need any more forms of transportation taking up garage space. But somehow this thing has me thinking! Need to have some options like suspension and a way to tap into the battery for devices. Since most bike riding is done in sunny weather, I wonder if a small solar panel could aid the battery endurance?

      @ElectricBikeReview  5 років тому +4

      Yeah, there's also the word "wave" since it's a deep step-thru, and some people call them low-step. I usually stick with step-thru because it's gender neutral and a lot of older people might need a frame that's easier to mount (based on hip or knee pain). I like how Aventon has multiple colors so they can accommodate anyone and not just have it feel like a women's only product :)

    • @metamorphicorder
      @metamorphicorder 5 років тому +4

      It was only a womans because of the time when american girls were expected to wear dresses all the time instead of pants.
