Finally plugged mine in. Love it. I think it’s really cool that I can haul around 14 sampled amps, especially just for jamming with a drummer that has a PA. Great vid Kai! 💪💪💪
Earned my sub. One of the best demo's I've ever seen. Great explanations, great riff choice to best allow the listener to hear the overtones and nuance. Nice playing too. Good luck.
I curently own the mooer 005 ( 5150 ) and I’m thinking of switching to this one instead, but i’m not sure if the sounds are just as good. I would use the pedal in front of an amp. Any suggestions?
I own a 005 as well and I think i might replace it with the preamp. Is the sound on the preamp as good as the 005? Also I use the pedal in front of an amp. Thank you in advance
Well done. Great playing and presentation. I own about a half dozen of the micro preamps and really like them. My only complaint about those are ruggedness and reliability, especially for gigs. Is this unit more robust? Also, I saw the 5150 model, which sounds great, and wonder if the 5150iii and Diezel are featured, or can be installed? Awesome job man. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! This unit seems super solid so far, I think I'd trust it live. Unfortunately the 5150iii and Diezel don't feature as stock amps on this unit, but they're able to be downloaded as captures (as well as almost any amp you can think of) from the Mooer website
Dude, I have two questions, please. Is it worth me discarding a flamma fs07 and fs06 to just use the mooer preamp x2 or will I lose sound quality? Or another option, I use the mooer preamp x2 with the flamma fs07, but the x2 with the cabinet simulation turned off of course. What is better??? Thank you in advance if you can help me, brother.
Good question! I'd say the Preamp X2 is a considerable step above the FS06, since it has twice as many amp models as stock, as well as a desktop editor to download a near limitless number of other amps. If you can keep the FS07 alongside it, they'd make a pretty excellent pairing. The X2 is pretty limited in the onboard cabs, but if you can get away with a single cab then you'll be fine with just the X2.
Man, this thing sounds great! Your playing- and Video Editing Skills are great too! Maybe i should get my hands on one of these units as well and do a Video on it too?
thanks for the video. One question, is it a good idea to put a clean model on this pedal with a distortion pedal from the boss before... does it sound good like that? sorry for my english greetings from spain
Great video, Kai. I know it's not the main application of this unit, but have you tried it in front of the clean channel of an amp to see how it sounds?
Good question! No, if you disable the amp section in the app, the whole unit powers down. Would've been cool, but I think that's why they also brought out the Cab X2
Thank you! As far as I can tell, there's no MIDI controllability with this unit, though I'm not massively well versed in the world of MIDI. You can change amps and cab settings using the desktop editor, so I imagine MIDI might be a possibility for a future firmware update.
So it already comes with a bunch of amps, do you get additional preamps in the software at no cost or do you have to pay $? What’s the app or is it only on computer?
Comes with a bunch of amps built in, or you can download some for free and import them using the computer app (no mobile app). There are paid options available from vendors like ChopTones too, those these are absolutely optional
I'm waiting for mine to arrive. I had even come to terms with using only three IRs, but now you tell me it's a single one for all the presets? Major bummer, I really hope Mooer can fix this soon. It's not hopeless, as they did upgraded the Radar through firmware update.
Good question! There's a little bit of latency, but it's pretty much just the duration of the footswitch being held down, I wouldn't say it's anything really noticeable. It's not totally seamless switching, but it's perfectly reasonable
I only have a chromebook, how much editing can you do directly on the unit? Seems like you really need the software to get the most out of the amp models.
None built in, but plenty available to download from the Mooer website - I'll update the description with a link to the site so you can browse to see all the available captures!
I just ordered a Preamp X after having my ears traumatized by a Flamma preamp pedal. Your review really made my day after the disappointment of plugging my guitar into what sounded like a $80 beehive. Also the cable included with the Flamma cab sim pedal tore a port out of my USB hub. The amp models themselves were good enough but there were too few and the noise was so bad even a tube screamer in front of it made it literally scream. I'm getting a full refund because I kept all the packaging and I claimed it was defective but apparently they all do that. I kept the cab sim pedal but that USB cable went in the trash. That will be the last Flamma product I ever buy. It's a shame because their lowest tier multi effects pedal has some pretty good models and doesn't sound like a dial-up modem.
Great video.i just wish to know 1 thing that i have a 009 preamp n i love the tobe of it but it gets hot after playing more than 20-30 mins..does this one gets hot too? .thank u so much
I highly recommended samples from author ROBY ROCKS on the mooer official site! They sounded better then default X2 amps! Other samples are sucks because they record them with poweramps or whatever. Roby Rocks are true dry preamp samples.
@@ДмитрийХохлов-с8в I can't really comment on this vs a tube amp as I haven't owned on in a long time, but it's not quite up to the level of response that I get with plugins - it's plenty good enough though. In a blind A/B I'm sure it'd be fairly close.

Thank you ever so much for the kind words!
Brilliant demo! You covered all the necessary components that make this pedal great! Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for watching John, glad you liked it! 😁
That was an excellent demo young man! You covered all the features I was interested in.
Thank you for checking it out!
Nice one Kai! I was wondering how well it took pedals, not only did you answer my question, but now I want a Highwind Direwolf haha. Keep it up mate!

Fantastic playing and fantastic quality of the video. Nice in-depth explanations. I will be getting this to replace my single 005!
Thank you so much for the kind words Scott! Definitely feels a lot more powerful than the 005 series, though their size is a big merit for them now
I own a 005 as well and I think i might replace it with the preamp. Is the sound on the preamp as good as the 005?
Also I use the pedal in front of an amp. Thank you in advance
Fantastic playing and presentation Thank you for the clarity !
That unboxing section 👍🏻👍🏻. Great video. Makes me want to pick one of these up.
Had to include the unboxing, it's the UA-cam way! 😄
Nice demo bro! Can you bypass the cab sim? I just need the preamp section. Cheers!
Yes you can!
Does it have the digital noise when you plugged in with another pedals? I had other digital Mooer pedals with this problem...

Is the touch sensitivity of the guitar like the ge series? Is it closer to the analogue?
its always fun to hear different people say MOOOOer or MoER :D Great video man! Sounded surprisingly good actually!

Thank you Izzy!! This thing is way more versatile than I thought it was gonna be, I'm stoked

great demo, i have yet to find a review of the preamp x2 through a guitar head or combo, thats the only thing i care about

Hello again you wonderful human 💖
Hey bro, how to connect headphones directly to this pedal without PC ?
Great vid! Hey, could you tell us if it has MIDI over USB? It'd be really useful for changing channels via MIDI.

I'll be doing a full video on the GuitarBass very shortly, I'll be sure to run it through the Mooer! 💪

Hello,
1. Noise gates are built-in?
2. On distortion, how about the noise level?
I didn't notice a built in noise gate, but the noise on high gain tones is fairly minimal
Nice video, buddy. Is there latency when switching between channels?
Good question! There's a little bit of latency, but it's pretty much just the duration of the footswitch being held down, I wouldn't say it's anything really noticeable. It's not totally seamless switching, but it's perfectly reasonable
I only have a chromebook, how much editing can you do directly on the unit? Seems like you really need the software to get the most out of the amp models.
The desktop editor is where you can install third party amps and cabs, but you can get really great tones just using the unit as-is!
@@KaiDown thanks! I was about to buy the 002 and 014 micro preamp, but then this was released. I think I will go in this direction.
Loved the video mate. What was the silver pedal you used?
That's the Zander Circuitry SiClone, it's a beast!
So which color is cabinet on vs cabinet off because I was gonna run mine through my v30 2x12 at home but I'm not sure which one is which
Are the preamp models the same as the ones used on the micropreamp series?
I'm not totally certain as I don't have one to A/B, but I'd wager that they're the same - lots of crossover between the models, same controls
Awesome! Great work 🙂
Thanks for checking it out!

Digital!
If only it had MIDI... imagine this and the Cerberus.
