It's honestly just the little tasteful and subtle nuances in his playing that set him apart. A pre bend here to accentuate a note, a shake of the guitar neck there to keep the strings strangled and squealing, a pick scrape followed by a pinch harmonic whilst never going off beat. He's always got something to "say" with his guitar and every time I go back to this video, I feel I learn something new. Thank you Slash for being the soundtrack of my rage filled teen years and the soul of my adult years. Blessed day bro

Appetite for Destruction has the greatest guitar work of any hard rock record. It's so damn rich with lovely guitar pieces and riffs and solos and rhythms... It's the greatest album of its time. Motley Crue was my favorite rock band of that time. But Guns N' Roses released the greatest single body of work. Appetite for Destruction is a masterpiece. Fact: It was released in July of 1987. It's 30 year anniversary... This makes me feel so damn old. By perspective it also means kids today think of Appetite the way I thought of 1950s rock. Wow! Do kids today think of Guns the way we thought of, say, The Big Bopper... Scary!
That stuff was great, too. But neither Zeppelin nor Hendrix had a single album so tightly concentrated with ass-kickers as Guns had with Appetite. It's a proportion thing. And overall Zeppelin was a greater band than Guns. But Appetite was the best hard rock album.
lol slash himself would concede gnr couldnt hold a candle to zep or hendrix. any of lz 1-4 or hendrix's albums has a greater overall content & tbh apetite had its fair share of stinkers on it, scom is side 2's only saving grace, take the fanboy shades off apetite is an ok album but pretty formulaic & repetitive
