I been thinking about using low voltage 12v heating blankets over 120v ones mainly in the case of an emergency. These use half the power of their 120v counterparts. Plus the shock and fire hazard are far less too. Best part is that you can run these off of a power station (solar generator). I am starting to do some testing myself and then a question had come up. Do you lay on the heating blanket (under you) or do you put it over you?
This one is designed to lay on top of you. I am actually camping right now in Colorado and using it to keep me warm. I have a well insulated mattress that I sleep on, a sheet, the electric blanket, and then a sleeping bag opened up on top of the electric blanket. keeps me plenty warm only on 60 heat setting and it’s 39 degrees outside right now. I have not tried the ones you sleep on top of, but my major worry with those is that I will feel the wires. That is why I went with the ones that go on top.
I have a small rooftop tent. This probably works in a big tent like you have, but I would rather run an electric 200W heater with a thermostat with my 200Ah battery for my situation. Either way, you have to pay the electric gods😂 Great review! Thank you!❤
Nice! I never considered running a heater since I have all the space to heat. I looked at the possibility of diesel heaters, but didn’t want yet another system and fuel type. what do you use for an electric heater? Might look at something like that when I am out without my dog and able to sleep in the roof top tent. I imagine it also helps with condensation in the tent as well and that would be a nice bonus!
Can I use this with car auxiliary on. I sit in car in the morning before I go in to work. I don't want to run the car if I can just have a heated blanket to keep warm for about 30 -45 minutes. Please let me know soon. I am trying to buy one as quickly.
I checked the specifications and it looks like you can. Spec is 48W max at 12V. That comes out to 4 amps, so as long as your car plug can handle 4 amps you should be good. When I get home in about 2 hours I will grab mine and do a real life test for you. That is plenty for my jeep, but cars vary so I would recommend checking your manual on the plug capacity while you wait to see how my real life testing goes.
I called dealer and mentioned what I was going to do. He stated that life of battery would be drained. Cost of battery is higher than cost of gas for running the car. If I had a different source for power, it would be ok. Like the way you use it.
@@lynrodbro3109 that's what I was thinking as well. My recommendation would be to get a small power station that can be charged by the car when it is running and the blanket could run off the power station while the car is off. Cost on those they of power stations are around $200-250. The lithium batteries used in most allow use in down to 14 deg F. Lower than that it will not work or damage the battery.
OMG I just rewatched the video. I filmed the different parts over about a week, so can totally see me repeating toasty a bunch of times and not catching it. Not quite sure how that many “toastys” made it through editing though. There may have been drinking involved 🤣
Toasty warm review- good info.
Ha thanks!

I don't know how I got here, but, I think I like the vibe and I am going to stay.
Ha! Welcome to the insanity!

Thank you for the response. I have a Hyundai Kona 2021 SEL.

Drink, every time he says, "toasty warm."
Ha! That might be worse than the star wars drinking game!
