I'm steering clear of them and Rebag from this point forward. You know they sent me what I believed to be a fake recently and luckily this new policy had not yet take effect.
Wow! This is terrible. You’re so right with your advice to carefully read the listing as well as review the pictures. I’ve been there! It happens! I’m so sorry it happened to you. I have a vintage Louis Vuitton Cannes Epi leather bag that I purchased late last year from a Japanese seller off eBay … it looked beautiful when it arrived, but shortly after I started using it, the handle tore. I had no idea it was compromised. The seller didn’t disclose anything off in writing or pictures. I kept it because it’s in beautiful condition otherwise, and I’m going to get it repaired by a professional service. I’ve not purchased from The Real Real, but sure am hearing things that will ensure I steer clear of them! By the way, I love this particular Ferragamo bag in red! ❤
It can be so tricky! I’m sorry you had a handle tear to deal with as well! I know a few companies that will repair and will share my repair experience once I go through it! The red is so stunning a it’s such a beautiful shade!
If TRR won’t refund you, I would issue a chargeback but then they will most likely never sell to you again. I can’t stand these consignment stores that sell designer goods for final sale. It’s scammy and unprofessional.
I can understand some items being final sale- that happens a lot in secondhand sales and that’s okay! But if you haven’t listed it correctly then you have to make up for your mistakes!
That purse is not fair-That purse should have been listed as a “fixer upper” and the insurance policy is appalling-I’ve never bought anything from this brand/company and I don’t think I ever will. Thanks for the video.
I agree! It’s definitely more as is with the handle than fair condition. I expected the scratches etc for a vintage bag but the handle is really about to fall off. I have a feeling the pushback on the insurance policy may cause them to bring it in house but idk if they can manage that!
@@Chicprofessor What they really should do is apologize for having sold you a purse with the handle so broken, and give you a full refund with your option to return the purse or get it fixed yourself. Your video is going to give anyone who hasn’t ever dealt with this company pause, if not a full stop as to not buy from them, I’m second hand appalled that they would do this to you (and have probably done it to other people). It’s sad when companies treat their customers so shabbily.😒.
The one thing that made me feel comfortable buying from TRR was the ability to return if they made a mistake. If a buyer can’t even have that assurance with an expensive purchase, then it’s just not worth it. It’s too bad because I came to like the selection and the occasional “bag for a steal” jackpot.
Hi- handle hanging on by a thread should not be listed as “fair”. There should have been a picture of the flaw so that the customer could assess fairly especially since non refundable. That being said it is a pretty bag 😊 and have a great Mothers Day😊
That’s insane that they changed the return policy. I never bought bags from them. I bought a Tory Burch cardigan that was new with tags but it was worn, had odors, and still had the tags. It was final sale and I had to call them to return.
@@ChicprofessorThey have gone downhill. I sent items, clothes to be sold in 2017. They sent them all back, saying they were in poor condition. Back when they were starting they had such high standards in the clothing and bag department. Now that’s all gone. I’m so sorry that happened to you. Vestaire did let me return. I bought a Chloe with a cracked top handle. It was so not your fault. Shame on them.
I love your bag. Why oh why can’t they take close-up photographs of the glaring damage that makes the bag unusable. It is false advertising taking glossy photos, so the bag will sell. If I did that on Poshmark, my ratings would be so bad no one would ever trust me as a seller. When I’m selling some thing, I take pictures of my finger pointing to the damage. Why can’t The Real Real do that? If the pictures and disclosure were better, they wouldn’t have to have this new return policy. No one would return because they would know what they were getting.
Thank you! I really like it too and hope I can fix it up without spending a ton! I know! They have so many complaints against them about these issues and yet nothing helpful changes.
Thank you for sharing info about TRR new return policy. I bought a few things from them back in 2016-2017. I don't remember exactly what the problems were, but something put me off from buying from them any more. In part, I ended up reselling or giving away anything I bought from them. In part, I think the items seemed like a good deal when I saw them online, but yes, I ended up disappointed in them when they arrived. I don't even enjoy using their website, as I can't look at all the item's photos without logging into the site. Too much of a hassle, not user-friendly. Re: the handle on your Ferragamo bag, are you near a Ferragamo boutique? I wonder if the boutique would/could replace the handle. On some high-end bags, I think handles are fairly easy to replace. It would suck if they charged you, but it might be worth it to get the bag you'd been searching for for so long.
I can understand that! Yes, I am near a botjiwue and contacted customer service who said after the warranty has passed on a bag (this one is vintage so even if I bought new originally it wouldn’t apply) they suggest using Rago brothers for repairing it who is where they send their repairs anyway! I took it to them and they wanted $500 for it which seems a bit high to me so I shopped around and found another place but haven’t sent it in yet ❤️
I’m so sorry this happened to you. This is a very poor listing. There is a big difference between a bag that is scuffed but in fair use compared to a torn handle which affects the ability to actually carry the bag!!! I would fight their decision! What a huge disappointment! What will you do with the bag? What did you pay for it? And did you get it look at to see how much it costs to fix?
It is a huge disappointment! I’m really bummed about it. I spent about $400 on the bag and I got a quote from Rago brothers (which is my usual go-to and who Ferragamo customer support suggested) and they quoted $500 which I think is too steep. I got an estimate from modern leather goods for less but haven’t actually brought it in yet so idk what the final price will be!
@@Chicprofessor when the repair costs more than the bag…. It’s too high for me. $400 would have been a great price! I love the colour! I’m so sorry this happened to you. I would try to refute what they said again and maybe use the social media angle? It just reflects on them poorly as trust is damaged and makes people question purchasing from them. Sorry again! Keep us posted - hopefully with a positive update!!

Same here! I have to want the bag for the price no matter the condition to buy another. It’s a bummer!
I am so sorry this happened to you . Thank you for sharing your experience. I think I will just save until I can afford to buy the bag new.
I get that! Secondhand will always be my first choice for many reasons but it can lead to some disappointment when it doesn’t go well!!
