To the people looking in the comments if they showed the bloomburrow animation they didn't. It will come out later
Thx for time save.
So you can only use the last three years of sets, unless it's specifically a card printed in Foundations and then that's legal for at least 5 years... hopefully they're going to continue printing Foundations sealed product through the entire time it's legal.
a core set that transcends rotation isn't a new concept for CCGs. definitely agree that the print run for this needs to go *very* long
I believe Mark Rosewater confirmed that Foundations is gonna be printed every year until it rotates out.
If it doesn't make money they will not. IMO
Play whatever you want.
Don't let them take your freedom away.
Love when magic prints 42 sets a year
We Have Now Seen More Of Duskmourn Than We Did Bloomburrow Which Comes Out Very Soon.
Coming to theaters near you:
They did explain why - the debut and spoiler season starts very soon. Duskmourn comes out further out and stores place allocation orders around now so they’re doing an early show off like they did for Bloomburrow earlier in the year.
Correct, this is what is known as the First Look, where they show a few key cards, promos, and packaging for a set coming up in around 3 months. It is for stores more than it is for the players.
Gavin is such a great face for MTG, very cool dude.
I can see the problems with a 5 year rotation set legal in standard. But this also provides a great degree of stability and, in turn, makes it easier for new players to get into it. For me personally, as someone with a small collection, the 3 year rotation has always scared me away from standard. So overall, I'm looking forward to foundations
I think perhaps it may just be Foundations that lasts that 5 years, with other sets being the 3 yrs
Yes, Foundations legality is separate from regular rotating sets
This is SO much better than the different introductory products of the past.
Combining the best aspects of Jumpstart, deck builders toolkit, and guided Portal releases, and the Magic 2010 redesign of core sets. Fantastic evolution now bring back the Guru program updated for the current era.
Is Foundations the reinvention of core set?
It's better than that my friend. It's an expansive core set with longevity.
@@WearBare96 so core sets
@@anthonywolf943 it lasts 3x longer than core sets though
@@joevero4568 are we getting core set release along side this? or this basically a core set? Idk seems like a recourse from wizards and I don't think it's bad, just smoke and mirrors.
@@anthonywolf943 Highly doubtful that they can insert the comparatively bland/low-power core sets alongside the upcoming UB sets and high-power expansions they have in the pipeline.
I am SUPER excited to draft MTG Foundations.
It goes to show that cards don't need bookloads of oracle text to be fun. These new bookloads of flavor text, however-- yum
So llanowar, DoJ, and Omni in standard until 2029?? I actually love that
I hope more Elves are printed in future sets - I want to make a standard elves deck as a new player
@@hdsandtoes5211 Returning to Lorwyn is confirmed, which has the coolest elves in MtG.
@@DigitalinDaniel heeeeckkkkk yeeaaahhhh, that’s awesome to hear!
@@DigitalinDanieldidn’t even think about that!
Where can I buy that Tamiyo shirt lol
You can call it a portal or whatever you want, fact remains that, That looks like a TV.
Entry products to Magic are super important imo and Foundations, so far, seems like in the right direction but we will see.
Where are the constructed format precons?
Duskmourn and Bloomburrow both look fantastic, but I really don’t understand why all the focus is on Duskmourn when Bloomburrow is coming out first.
There are two reasons. First is we already got a preview of Bloomburrow in February and this is our first view of Duskmourn. Second is Bloomburrow preview season starts in a week anyway, so showing more cards here would just be taking previews away from content creators for the sake of showing a week early.
Not really feeling the 70/80s+ Horror movie vibes for Duskmourn. I guess I really just wanted to go back to Innistrad & Eldritch style Horror. I will have to wait & see if that opinion changes as more cards/mechanics are revealed.
If it's not a relevant commercial franchise, Pappa Hasbro isn't interested in Slapping a crossover label on it.
The story here has been on life support for years, this is just them pulling the plug 🤦♂️
I’m really excited about Duskmourn since I’ve been a huge fan of modern horror
I was just talking about ARCHENEMY yesterday!!!!
How is it we got more Duskmourn spoilers than Bloomburrow?
I like the flavor of Nine Lives Familiar. Also, another card to use in sacrifice decks is good news to me. One of my favorite decks in Modern is a Jund sacrifice deck featuring Sprouting Thrinax, Blood Artist, Goblin Bombardment and Collected Company. It's not a very good competitive deck, but it's one of my favorites to play.
I was beyond hyped for Duskmore based on art i had seen... now im probably a bit 50/50 personally not vibing with the technology and static part of it, everything else tho is awesome
Agree
Foundation is the only set i'm interested in, can't wait for deckbuild boxes being back
Did I just see SUNGLASSES…?
We have: TVs, Walkie-talkies, Torchlights, Sunglasses and Ghost-detectors.
Absolutely killed my interest in the set
Edit:
Oh and how could I forget? Chainsaw.
Ovideo Cartagena is the absolute best. I loved Lost Caverns of Ixalan 😁
He has great potential
why have we seen more duskmourn then bloomburrow cards?
Proper Bloomburrow season starts very soon so they’re clearly avoiding treading on its toes. We also got an early look at Bloomburrow a few months ago just like we did Duskmourn now.
Badger Tribal!!!!! Please
Duskmourn better have Courage the Cowardly Dog references...
For that now.
am i the only one that hates tech that doesnt look like artifacts? it feels so weird to have randomly TVs (Portals :P HI HI HI -.-) or tech from doc who or tech from fallout feel SO off
I'm so happy with the japan showcase cards that it sounds like the japanese art will be more common now with alt arts.
I'll say right now i've been LOVING the japanese art on cards in the past few years and am GREATLY looking forward to more.
Though I also know this has clearly been a tactic to appeal to japan more. As the first set with the japanese art (war of the spark) actually made MTG one of the top TCGs in japan for once/for the first time in a long time. MTG oddly enough not the most popular TCG in japan. Last I heard in the top ten MAYBE but low on that list.
Then again Japan more than anywhere else is extremely spoiled for choice in TCGs.
Do you think these Japanese showcase cards will be in the collector packs in the US? I really want them. The art is so pretty.
i was wrong i was expecting duskmourn was going to be a plane shard or splinter that broke way from a larger plane
duskmourn is gonna make me poor - maybe i should sell my serialized emrakul now :D
I think many of you missunderstood Foundations. It's not legal for 5 years. It's supposed to be legal FOREVER. But since the team knows, that Magic is an ever changing landscape, they made it legal AT LEAST until 2029. Then they review and decide if they gonna extend it, or whatever to do with it.
I personally think this will help Standard a lot, but I am scared of the powerlevel of those cards. If that is the foundation, then I wonder what the rest of the building is gonna look like, bc it's gonna be POWERFUL!
but, they can get a bit of powercreep OUT of the Standart sets, if the stables are playble for longer/ever. So they can focus on cool mechanics and the foundation makes it work. i think this could be very relaxing in long term. For standart at least
Good for zbexx making it into the ad for Bloomburrow / Duskmourn!
I'm liking Duskmoor more than than I thought I would!!!😊 And of course I love Bloomburrow
so its like lowryn~shadowmoor remaster?
Bloomburrow is fabler/furry lorwyn, great, got it
I think foundations is a great idea. Let’s see how well they execute it
filipa killing it, dress looks sick!!!
I really thought itd be lightning bolt not day of judgement TvT
I really thought itd be lightning bolt again not omniscience 😭
Aminatou is taking an important role in Duskmourn
Can't wait to play Winchester Mansion the mtg set.
"Take that Aetherflux Reservoir player!" ~Screaming Nemesis, because anyone who's ever played against an Aetherflux Reservoir has screamed at some point in the game.
Gavin is cool
Ok. Duskmourn is another top down design set where making funny references to the Ring and SAW is more important than having a real story. Got it.
So basically duskmourn is the backrooms
Are the moths a reference to silence of the lambs
Terraria Collab when? Seeing some of the duskmourne arts got me thinking it'd be a cool crossover
Elesh Norn allready back?
I find it a bit strange that most people who work for WoTC seem to be socially awkward... Not the best choices for a panel or presenting to people.
Ok is bloomburrow set in a room on duskmourne or maybe the plain that becomes duskmorne? The moths are on both cards and that video was suspicious
I highly doubt that the planes are connected outside of an omenpath if at all. I didn't see any moths on the Bloomburrow cards. Which cards exactly? The video was just a way to advertise both new sets at once.
@@matthewellis8773 the black card in the bats staff there's a moth that looks identical to the Duskmourne ones. It's more that we got a video for duskmourne and one for both sets
@@evasmith9823 I see the similiarity, but it's more likely that the one on the Bloomburrow card is some sort of firefly, not a moth, as it's being used as a light source. The video was just for marketing purposes. It was a clever "this or that" type ad. I suppose time will tell.
However, it does beg the question of why did they preview that specific Bloomburrow common out of all the commons they could have chosen. Perhaps it is an easter egg. It also interacts with enchantments, which is a theme in Duskmourn. Good catch either way.
Day of Judgment for 5 years... Hm. Well. It's not Farewell.
10:17 some Inscryption fans over at WotC design
Duskmourn reminds me a little of the book Piranesi. A never-ending labyrinth of hallways and rooms where there's no true outside, but with an eldritch horror twist.
YAY! More Jumpstart product! Thank you!
What ever happened to Worlds?
Mtg foundations legal in standard until 2029? 😳 😮
4 mana sweeper uintil 2029 ... i think i stop playing xD
@@DaxRaider better than sunfall
@@burnsboy101 it definitely takes the edge off of new releases to print ridiculous versions of staple effects
at least
@@DaxRaiderTo be fair Depopulate is currently a thing
Getting kinda tired of seeing Simic and Esper Commander precons. We have more than enough of them beyond that, I'm excited about everything else!
Foundations feels like WOTC’s new version of Portal.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Excited !!!! RIP wallet.
Things showing up on cards in an interesting ways...
Glow in the dark cards.
Way too much human modern technology in duskmourn, I am really not into this set
The modern clothes and technology in Duskmourne is really out of place and distracting.
I don't feel excited for this set anymore and I don't know why they couldn't give these things a fantasy coat of paint
"Oh it just looks like that" feels rather disingenuous :|
Agree
We've been saying it forever, but please push back the releases. It's not even exciting seeing a new card anymore because the spoiler season is neverending
5 years of omniscience in standard. audience was not amused.
26:32 ghost busting makes me feel good i actually like this .
I hope foundations is cooler than it seems, cause it seems like an awful idea to me. Is it gonna be printed consistently for ~5 years or are you just fucked if you didn’t get into standard before they stop printing this weird core set
It seems like Duskmourn might have connections to Kaladesh and/or New Phyrexia. The portal has several curving vine-like things, similar to the aether-inspired spirals on Kaladesh, while the vines curving out of the skull remind me of Staff of Compleation. Meanwhile, on Reluctant Rolemodel, the symbol on the door looks like a mix between a Phyrexian symbol and an energy symbol. The moths throughout the set, including on the portal, could also imply a connection to Aminatou's home world. Ikoria is another plane that the moths bring to mind, but Aminatou's presence explains the moths pretty well and there are seemingly stronger indicators for Kaladesh and New Phyrexia. As such, a connection to Ikoria doesn't seem that likely, unless several planes are connected to Duskmourn. Also, this doesn't really count as evidence, but Valgavoth sounds a bit like Yawgmoth. I just a bit of digging and there was also apparently a city on the plane of Phyrexia called Gamalgoth, which could be connected to Valgavoth, solely related to Yawgmoth, or a complete coincidence.
Way too many products
desparking the wanderer was so dumb. They could have done so much stuff interesting with it, but desparked her off screen. They built up this whole storyline with her and kaito and also resolve that off screen? Lmao.
Sooo, UB Ghostbusters when?
The first announcement is just depressing. Why would I want to see Omniscience be a top end for 5 years. Why would I want to see any of these cards for 5 years. Also when they revealed Omniscience I felt the crowd did not seem too happy, or just me?
It definitely looks interesting but I was expecting/hoping for gothic/lovecraftian horror rather than modern horror. 🤔
That's what I thought it would be too but I'm excited about getting a new kind of Horror outside of Innistrad
We already got gothic and lovecraftian horror.
Was hoping for a secret last card for AC... oh well
bro AC came out like last week thats old news now
step 1: make standard 3 year rotation
step 2: make a set thats legal for 5 years with a 4 mana sweeper
step 3: wondering why everyone leaves standard and no one playing it anymore ....
Tbh foundations is making it easier to build across rotations, it's not rotating your entire collection every couple years
Are WOTC trying to do a Barberhaimer by having bloomburrow and Duskmourn so close together?
I saw this connection when they first announced the sets. Remember they work two plus years ahead so Magic did it before Barbenheimer was a thing.
Sucks that they desparked the wanderer
I mean she seems pretty cool with it given her history.
duskmourn looks so cool omgggg
So happy its not lameass lovecraftian horror for duskmourn. Love this sets theme sm
No way there isn't a ghost busters SL to this if not copying that idea was kinda lazy if not for this purpose. But with that been said this Set takes my money, I love almost everything about this Duskmourn set. Those nightmare bundles and collector boosters are mine. Easily skipping the boring set of bloomburrow for it.
Also there is no way they created a Literal Fomo card.
At this point I just hope they will dial down on the Commander Deck releases with each new set since it is just sooo darn much to keep up with!
Each new set releases with +60 new cards that are now also Legacy legal...
In general, I do get the focus on Commander but it is just getting out of hand for me who doesn't play Commander and isn't really into it.
Especially the new Modern Horizons 3 could easily have been renamed as Commander Horizons. ;)
the bald trio :D
Wtf is this garbage? Remember when magic had "magic" in it.
RIP Standard 😢
Y’all got millions of dollars and his microphone is echoing? Where are the sounds engineers at who can fix this issue.
Or swap out in ear microphone..
How is the state of Yu-Gi-Oh! going now compared to Magic: the Gathering?
A Lot of people is leaving and it's hard to get new playeros beacuse the complicated text and rules
I still love and play Yugi tho
@@alexisaravenagonzalez7787 can't blame them. Lots of text to explain simple stuff. Mighy Master Endymion is just three effects, iirc.
@@alexisaravenagonzalez7787can't blame them. The cards overexplain simple stuff sometimes.
Wow I hate the modern 80s setting for duskmourn. Very disappointed
MTG money grabber
while i like reprints i already think 3 year rotation is to much it makes a meta very stale ... this being legal until 2029 ... its horrible guys ...
4 mana sweeper and llanowar elves until 2029 means you also dont need to print any other boardwipe as its not competing anyways ...
meta will get stale with control getting hard buffed by a 4 mana sweeper ... no no no ... i play standard BECAUSE Of the rotation ... after rotiation is always the most fun and you guys rly destroying it :(
You say that as if there aren't already two of them in Standard... Maybe you should check to see if your pants are on backwards.
@@collinbealBut that's exactly the issue. There are two because SNC should've rotated by now. Now if they print a single one we'll have two. So basically they can't ever print a 4-mana wrath.
