- The fastest World Cup Downhill mountain bike race course of 2019 is here, and it's in Les Gets, France. Today during practice, the DH racers got up to speed incredibly quickly with no shortage of carnage.

From 2 - 3pm before timed training, we held the unofficial Vital MTB / Vanzacs #lesgetslongjump contest on a random wooden kicker that is part of the course. In the end, Bruce Klein of Commencal / 100% jumped nearly 90 feet to get $300 out of gordo's pocket. Finn Iles, Laurie Greenland, Brook Macdonald, Loic Bruni, and so many racers gave it their best shot.
Rachel Atherton ended up going furthest in the women's only to later rupture her Achilles tendon. She is out for the race and most likely the season.

It’s crazy to see how these newer bikes just eat up anything with all the suspension tech and everything else evolving
I love the way it looks
Older bikes relied a lot more on suspension just to get down the hill, now bikes work so much better with proper geo the bike/rider/suspension can work together and hit things so much harder.
I'm seeing coil overs which are actually pretty old tech! I think it's more of a "if it ain't broke, stop adding ridiculous features to try and reinvent the wheel"
debunkthejunk1 yeah the feel of a coil is pretty hard to beat. Consistent as heck, and soaks things up like butter. Only reason not to have one is if you ride flow/jump trails only but even then it really comes down to the suspension layout and design.

I just can’t stand the fact that there are now whistles in one of the purest and most mature friendly sports in the world...
I remember whistles from the early 90's at DH events to let people know rider up........do not know where you come from with the "there are NOW whistles"

That telephoto side angle of the jumping was dope. Great camerawork, the effect looks great, wish I saw it in other extreme sports cinematography.

@@ridetheapex the whistles are the marshals. They are to say that there's a rider on track and to make sure the spectators don't choose that moment to cross. It's really important because people would get hit otherwise and in areas like the open, top grass section, the top riders are doing towards 70 kph and almost all riders will be doing upwards of 60 kph. At those speeds, if someone got hit, the rider and whoever got hit would probably be seriously hurt.

@@Rg452 I've ridden the Enduro MY18 on a test event and the ohlins suspension was rubbish... Of course it was beat up from all the testing but it certainly didn't make me want to switch out my Lyrik.

@@Co-km6cl Dude, you said it yourself, it was beat up from being on demo bikes. A freshly serviced fork will kill every single fork out of the water. Your lyrik is tune to your liking, the Ohlins was probably fucked with by a 100 person, they never feel good unless you tune it and reset every setting properly!
