Since everyone is talking about the Nicki collab I want to point out that the colorful suits aren't from american fashion style but are Ankara prints, from African culture since this song is a fusion btw South Korean and South African beats and instruments
Ty for pointing that out because everyone seems to be ignoring or unaware of the fact that there is lots of African representation in the song and video as well as the choreo.
thank you for pointing that out
Yes
AMEN 🙏🏽 TALK ABOUT IT !!
Tq fr this interesting bit of info!
as a South African the song sounds sooo South African. they used alot beats from the Igqom genre. and the dance moves as well .. they did the gwara gwara which a famous south african dance move
South Africa!!!! I was dancing along. I felt so in touch with this mv
Asmaa Alli I know right?? I can easily see my mates from high school jam to this 😂 even the whistle sound effects in the beginning and the beat reminds me of “Omunye” from Distruction Boyz 😂
Yeaaahhh 😢😢😢
I loved! 😍😍😍
Bruh they fucking danced the gwara gwara omg😩
guys support bts by streaming
Idol original MV
By the way idol ft nicky is amazing
Jimin's heart Do you mean by watching it here on youtube or streaming it Somewhere else?????
I mean to go to original MV idol on ibigbit 🎵💜
I read that as gays support bts by streaming
Just incase you didn't know know this song is influenced by South African dance track music. They also incorporated South African dance moves aswel as African clothing.
they hit that gwara gwara!
I thought the mv was full with korea culture, theres a video explaining the whole thing, you should check it out
@@tessa6356 bighit confirmed the video is made with african and korean cultures/music/dance
the video had captions and also it’s suppose to be mixed with both korean and african culture
Ashh Adrien African?
Grimm Jow “IDOL is a South African style dance track. Korean traditional beats are mixed with the African beats and supported by a trap groove with popular EDM source”
Ashh Adrien is that official statement by bighit? I mean bighit tweeted but its in korean so...
Well I mean they do gwara gwara and other typical African dances so I guess yeah, idk but I know the dances and they’re from Africa
Amélie Balzac yeah, it's official! Their clothing and dancing are from South African culture. Of course the music which is also fused with Traditional Korean beats, Bang PD said a while ago that he's been studying South African music and now we know why! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
They represented Africa and Korean culture perfectly..from the African colored clothes to the dance(they did gwara gwara and shaku shaku). Am proud of them
I thought I was only one who noticed them doing the shaku shaku and gwara gwara! Broooo Jimin and Kooks fuckin' killed it for the gwara gwara!
The chorus where they are under the yellow tent and the part where the shark is behind them
Sunshine bae girl right I was like “Chill kookie” my bias is Jimin😂😂😂😂🙅♀️🙅♀️
Sandra Afia Owusu girl!! You mean our very own shaku shaku was featured, I didn’t see it!!! Now i have to start searching the video😩
Edit: i just saw it. It wasn’t really noticeable and wasn’t much of a shaku shaku but i still loveeeeeee it anyway
They tried and thats what matters. To imitate African dance ain't easy
There’s a version with Nicki Minaj you should react to !!!!! . 😍😍😍😩
Chris Park it’s audio/lyrical version only
Jean Blackthorn I know they listen to audios too lol
yep
@@chrispark6783 true, its good to metion its an audio version b/c allot of other who dont know will assume that shes in the MV which is not the case at all
Jean Blackthorn at least they’ll still stream it . 😭🙊
BTS is just that group that u can count on. Just like they did airplane pt2 for their Latino fans, they gave something for our south African army's. ❤️ They also found a way to use south African influence with their Korean culture. It was just beautiful
Did anyone else peep kookie twerking
Aryana Anderson YES
What time
Has! At first I thought it was Jhope. They were all ridiculous during that section of Jin's part.
Yes lmao
Aryana Anderson what time?
HEYYO!! In this music video they went over the top with cgi and colours and everything because they were making fun of the fact that that's what people think they are like (people who don't listen to kpop) but they were also saying even if they were like that, they dont care what people think of them and bts doesn't chase the west, the west chases bts- also making the point they will remain korean and not westernise themselves. You should also listen to the whole album its so so good!!!
Jimin, why are you so perfect?:3xd
Bruh!!! There's so mucccch I wanna talk about but!! They got a remix with Nicki!!!! But its only available digitally not on the physical album itself and not only that they incorporated the African Dance "Gwara" as well infused Korean and African beats! Also some of the members suits had african prints on them I canntt this album
Jk rapping tho
I screamed when I heard the beat and saw the opening moves. As an African ARMY, my heart is sooooo full
@@sakurachan9088 same i was out of control
JIMIN 🔥
People don’t notice the ships on the table with them, with the globes it’s like how people are saying they’re pioneering in the industry, they’re also showing their respect from where they incorporate their music from, they’re big into hip hop which traditionally is African beats and so they’re wearing Ankara and they’re also doing gwara gwara, the background has a lion king looking background because and they also have korean nobility clothing with actions such as Jung kook doing the dry cough which was what nobility did to say signal they were resent and to stop talking about them behind their backs.... there’s a lot of great symbolism in this. They showed their roots, their appreciation and that they do this because they enjoy it
Yessssss!!
Also they're in safari gear as though they're still exploring new things, they're doing everything everyone said they couldn't do and also they showed their personalities most importantly there is just so much magic happening in this mv 😭😭😭 so proud of our guys!
surprised jasmine wasn’t with yall but yes the mv was supposed to represent and embody bts with all their craziness which is why so much is happening and it has subtle hints of things they go through as idols
I don't listen to BTS all that often, but "Idol" hits super hard~
the music is mixed with *Korean and African* culture
African culture? Its a continent
South Africa not the whole of africa
Claudia West That's Awesome!
At the end when they sat on the chairs, they be like... "Okay, whatchu wanna say?". Like anyone can beat that. How are BTS themselves gonna beat that?
CRAZY ASIAN BTS, CHOREO, VISUAL AND DANCE OVER THE TOP, EVERYTHING OVER THE TOP. KUDO TO BTS
That beat you liked so much was inspired by South African music ^^
i just wanna say I'm so proud of jin he's coming thru these last two comebacks 😢
Strawberry Vanilla Tae is one of my favorite looks. Adorable!
The whole video and their choreography is partly a sort of a mashup of their old MV's and choreographies and it's so well done you can't even tell in the beginning.
jimin~~~~~~~~~`
love experiencing another comeback with you guys! this mv and album is INCREDIBLE
aint a fan but the chorus with that dance gives me goosebumbs everytime lol
You should listen to the album version with Nicki Minaj
Isn't this the album version though? Nicki Minaj version is digital exclusive i think.
Justinas Z no they’re both on album
But the Nicki version isnt on the tracklist though
Justinas Z it’s in the album tho on iTunes and Spotify
Yeah, but only digitally, not on the album itself physically.
Big Bang & BTS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Most time I can't read Robs thoughts (his poker face is serious), but always has a smile when he watches BTS.
About the rabbit in the moon it's referring to something Taehyung said a while back: "I believe there are rabbits on the moon"
Flower Bangtan it's also Korean folklore that rabbits live in the moon 😊
Jenniffer Dossett yeah I saw a Korean youtuber saying so; there’s an old myth saying there are rabbits on the moon which is mostly why Tae said that; knowing how he believes in ghosts and these kind of stories XDD 🐯💜
*BTS FT NICKI MINAJ*
LiL MeoW Meow h
LiL MeoW Meow Lit! 🔥🔥
Everyone's face collectively melted when RM's kitty filter came on....BIG MOOD!
yes, BTS MVs are dope like that! BTS are kings! BTs are legends!
BTS is the best ambassadors of Korea. they are the idols of all idols for me! no one could inspire you to love yourself than BTS! also, they make everything look good! BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS!
i love the representation of korean and african music and dance incorporated into this MV,,,so dope
Awww Patrick is such an Army. So cute!
“ bts calling their title song IDOL and making the MV extremely weird and colorful on purpose because the #1 critique westerners have is “kpop videos are too weird and make no sense””
BTS ARE KINGS. 😭😍
Guys the MV has subtitles🎵💜
The Rabbit in the Moon is actually part of a folkloric tale that's totally worth looking into!
it had more african influence than american influence x love the reaction
The fact that you guys can tell them apart unlike other reaction channels is so badass
I love this comeback, already added to my playlist
Jk rapping
Kito Yato Yus, I was Hype asf
Can’t wait for the stage performances. I gotta see the choreo live, man!
that's right. this vid is what bts really is like. This is not something that we want to see but what bts wants us to see, i.e, them in reality. They love themselves man and they got no regrets n time for haters. 💞
In an interview a few years ago, Taehyung (V) said he thought there were rabbits on the moon....that’s why I believe they added that to the MV!
4:41 jungkook tweaking in the back😂😂😂
That gqom drum in the beginning is EVERYTHING
Jungkook❤❤ BTS💜💜
The bunny in the moon is most likely a reference to when Taehyung said he believes there are rabbits on the moon! this whole mv is about loving and being yourself no matter what others think about you. People used to tease Taehyung for being different and "weird" and even "Childish" and I think this is just a fun little easter egg showing that he isn't afraid to be himself; wild and creative.
This song has a very strong message.. If I knew them earlier, I'd be doing what I wanted to do. Young armys are lucky..
To me, this mv style reminded me of 80's Talking Heads or Peter Gabriel vids. I liked all the references to their past mv choreos and the wonderful blend of the Korean traditional sound and fashion with other world cultures. Truly international super stars :)
the guy dancing to the song on the left is a whole mood
the idol MV is little DNA because of colorful color, Fake Love because of what was in the beginning and Not Today almost the end of the MV.
This is a global party song celebrating oneself and be happy and have confidence in yourself despite the criticism from haters.
Congratulations on top 35 😃
Wow that's amazing Idol. Namjoon he's so cute 💜💜💜👍👍👍
The party that was happening on the left. I fully support!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🔥🔥🤙🏽
You should do a listening party to their new album LY: Answer! You'll definitely love all the trivia songs!
Kim Nam-joon.♥
This is the rap line comeback and i love it
My boys BTS 💜 I love my baby V with his pink and orange hair and his lip biting.
Suga and jimin nailed it.. my lil meow get it.. i am so proud of all of them bangtañfighting💜💜💜
Is he saying insfire😂😂😂damn I'm dying every time
Yo they hit that gwara gwara. Had my ass hype at 4 this morning when the album and video dropped.
I love your reactions to BTS, it’s always fun to listen to what you think and watch your faces hahaha
yeah they corporate everything korean african american etc dope vid #idol is cool bangtanarmyph thanks fr reacting guys😘
Cant no haters come at bts now... AYYYEYEETYE
Yes i can't believe this 😍💞👏👏
매번 느끼는건데 탄이들 노래는 들으면 들을수록 좋더라 ♡
The rabbit on the moon is Asian folklore - Moon Rabbit or also called Jade Rabbit. In the Korean folklore, they say that the rabbit is pounding rice in the mortar to make rice cakes. I heard about this when I went to Gyeongbok Palace during the Lunar New Year Festival a few years ago, when I was living in Seoul. This whole video is an interesting mix of their culture and other cultures. I've never seen a video like this before for sure.
i like how you guys interpret their MVs now and it shows you guys pay attention too .. and yes, RM said it himself that the music is basically a festival or celebration with all ARMYs all over the world that's why it's soooooo colorful and festive 💜💜💜💜👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌✌✌✌
I always love your feedback after the song/mv ♡
Global Artist making World-class Music
You guys should do reaction videos to each members intro to bts, I think you’ll enjoy hearing their stories
The guy on the left *A WHOLE MOOD*
I was waiting for this
*they SNAPPED!*
african inspired track with no cultural appropriation? we stan
There were african dance moves in it too and trust me they did it soo well and this...this is a bop!!!! Check out the one featuring Nicki minaj...its a certified bop too
Kim Namjoon
Kim Seok Jin
Min Yoongi
Jung Ho Seok
Park Jimin
Kim Taehyung
Jeon Jungkook,
BTS! WHOOO👑👏👏💕💕
I love BTS thank you
The rabbit in the moon is a story in Chinese folklore. It is also sailormoon's name (Tsukino Usagi).
I've waited for this after the release of Idol music video.
oh also please remember to turn on the cc whenever u watch bts mvs they always have english trans in the vid just turn on the cc! so u can enjoy the mv while understanding what they're saying :) nice reaction btw
There was much more than Korean influences in the mv, there was also African culture represented with an Afrobeat in distance background infused with Korean instruments. Then you have the sunrise background very reminiscent of the Lion King, along with Giraffes, etc. BTS completely slayed this comeback and shut down 2018. I was here for it and very happy with the outcome.😌❤
This is from all over the world culture mv. RM said its there celebration that the series is over for 2 1/2 years. The answer is to love yourself. Its a festival celebration for armies all over the world.
The guy in the right is such a whole mood😂😂
yall my fav reactors frrrr
I love you bts ❤️❤️
Love your reactions lmao 😂💜 We all died! Legends only!!
The cc's were on? This mv is just everything !!
말이 필요없습니다.. Just dope!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
My fave reaction channel. Loveyou guys!! 💜
Thank you!!!!!! 😄😄😃😃💕💕
And ending choreo will be sitting down on stage, FOR SURE.
KINGS COMEBACK
v looks like he is going to highschool
I love your guys reactions!!
Did you guys catch the airplane that was in the back while J-hope was rapping??
Did you guys also realize what Suga said that he loved home self? if you look back at DNA he said he loved him self and in fake love he is “it’s fake love”
their outfits are actually from the joseon era the han dynasty is a chinese era and older then joseon era which is around the 1300s i believe
