Valve Index's built-in mic is the best option for VR, just one of the many reasons why it's still the favorite headset among streamers and VRChatters despite its age.
@@xHadesStamps It was good value when it came out, the resolution and optics seem quite outdated for the price now. Can't wait for Valve's next headset.
Just from listening on the phone, all the lav mics sounded horrible even in comparison to the talking-into-the-wall cam mic. This showcased to me that I must have been right all this time to avoid lavaliers. A serious night-and-day difference on phone speaker. Will have to doublecheck this on PC later... edit: yeah, the lavs still sound terrible, but for basic speaking it is alright and consistent, I guess. I still would prefer to not listen to somebody's rants for extended amount of time with this flavor.
Depends on how well it fits around your VR headset, and the headset itself. Most non-professional headset mics (gaming headsets, cheap office headsets, etc.) are straight-up trash. Professional equipment (like my BPHS1) tends to be bulky and expensive.
That internal camera mic sounds awful! From hell to heaven compared with the Deity wireless lav. I've heard in previous reviews microphones that sound a lot better than that internal camera mic and Bandrew has wiped the floor with them, I wonder if it is just justifying the poor sound because is his main camera mic. Neither sound great anyway.
Bandrew: “but what happens when I turn around?”
Me: “hey! Still sounds pretty decent!”
Bandrew: “… it sounds terrible!”
Definitely
Bandrew always sounds great. That's his destiny. There's nothing he could do about it

I wish it weren’t so expensive. The mic on the Quest is straight-up useless!

@@dfcx1 Yeah, $1K wasn’t bad for what it offered when it came out. Hopefully the next one won’t cost too much more!
Great content always

tbh ideal for vr in my opinion agree with bandrew
I wonder how well would a headset mic work
