One of the greatest performances of all time that is sadly forgotten by everyone except diehard Milsap fans. I remember taping this on our VCR when it first aired 20 years ago. I was only 12 years old and watched it over and over, totally blown away by the dynamic talent Ronnie displayed here. The most amazing thing about Ronnie is his versatility as a singer/musician..there is literally nothing this guy cannot sing.
I've seen him in concert and met him and some of his family. He's done this in many of the concerts I've seen. I also have a CD of him doing it. He can rock the house!
A priceless, rockin' performance from the most versatile and underappreciated singer in America. Ronnie takes a medley of classic hits and sings them all well as the legends that made them famous. The dude does Ray Charles better than Ray! Listen to the man rock that damn piano at 7:52!
Simply one of the greatest live performances of the last 35 years by any artist from any genre! Ronnie's vocal and piano abilities are unmatched by any superstar on the charts today. How many "country singers" from any era can pull off a killer rock n' roll performance like this!?!? Ronnie is the most versatile American singer since Linda Ronstadt...a supreme yet underappreciated talent that today's performers can only dream about.
MrNotNiceGuy, perhaps that's why radio stopped playing Ronnie Milsap; he so can satisfy audiences, & is so talented & musically diverse, they were afraid he'd put everybody else out of business! (That & the fact that, in the early 90s, the country-pop fad was pretty close to dead.) That's a shame, for with better airplay, Ronnie could've won more #1s than even Conway Twitty & George Strait! 'Kenny Cheesy' is more like it! Exact opposite in ability to Milsap! Kenny bad, Ronnie Excellent! (claps)
The first time I saw Ronnie was in Granite Falls, NC, in the early 70's and have been a diehard fan ever since. I went to Lake Norman, Charlotte, Greensboro, Boone & Asheville, and Dollywood to his shows. I saw Ronnie at the first 2 Fan Fairs and I went to two parties that he hosted for us fans. I've traveled many miles to see him perform, but I had to drive less than a mile to see him perform in Lenoir, NC last year.and talked with Joyce & Ronnie. What a talent and super human being!!!.
Truly one of the distinguished voices in country music with an amazing range of musical styles that you don't see in today's music. I've seen Ronnie perform live many times through the years and those show ending melodies are timeless as he honors the musical legends of yesteryear. Thanks for posting this 62fut!
I met Todd in Portsmouth, Ohio and and seen Ronnie perform a fantastic concert. Todd felt bad that I could meet his dad because they were in a hurry to get everything loaded and travel to New York, I believe, to do another concert. The next time I seen Ronnie in concert was in Springfield, and Todd told the security guys to let me and my bf at the time, go to the meet and greet that was for workers, board members, etc. at the hospital they doing the benefit for. I was so excited I hugged Ronnie without telling them, I could have knocked him over..But he is a really really nice guy on top of being so talented!
I recall when this concert special aired on The Nashville Network in 1990, as I recorded the entire program. Such a unique talent on display at his best!
Should have been released as single. "The Piano Medley". Would have been a big hit IF country and pop radio had given it a chance. By 1990, it was out with the old and in with the newest "flavor of the decade"
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music❤❤
Well said MrNotNiceGuy! What is amazing is seeing the stage presence of this man and how he does a visual impersonation of Ray Charles when he's never even SEEN Ray sway around the piano bench like that! And Ronnie's powerful singing and piano playing speak for themselves. There is NOBODY in country music today who could equal this great performance from 20 years ago...
Can't Beat RONNIE MILSAP! RICK'S COUSIN ran away from blind school with RM, MEET him at Los Vegas! Ronnie had Freshest Breathe Ever! Meet his SON! HE SAID HELLO TO UA ON WAY TO BREAKERS NEXT MORNING! Ronnie, Thank you for your precious gift,! I have always believed there is a great God, but with your wonderful faith I now know that God is Good and God is love!
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music❤❤
No. He's totally blind. A friend of mine helped set up a concert in Dallas for him several years ago. They ran a thin wire around the edge of the stage so he would know how far to walk when he sang standing, away from his piano.
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music❤❤

Ronnie Milsap Doin’ The Tribute To The Piano Man/ Medley 1:36 I’m In Love Again- Fats Domino 2:05 Blueberry Hill- Fats Domino 2:58 What I’d Say- Ray Charles 4:28 Georgia On My Mind- Ray Charles 6:34 Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin On- Jerry Lee Lewis 7:18 Lucille- Waylon Jennings
@Sloneman a. It's the Grand Ole Opry, which tends to be more polite and well-mannered, plus how many in there are actually younger? b. Um, no, not a very underappreciated artist in country music; he's a very underappreciated artist in music, period.
In all honesty, I think Ronnie Milsap is a lot better than Fats Domino, Floyd Cramer, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and even Ray Charles combined! I know he'd disagree about Ray, but still, he should seriously do a tribute album to Ray Charles! He did a tribute album to Jim Reeves & outdid him everywhere, why not one for Ray? P.S. If I could give a few suggestions to Ronnie for that, I'd want him to do "What'd I Say", "Georgia On My Mind", "I Got A Woman", and "A Song For You" if you know it.
Yes, that too, but it'd probably require a duet partner of some sort, and Ronnie would have to find an older singer for that whom's better than Willie Nelson. (What about Charley Pride?) Ronnie still has time to record that album, so what is he waiting for? It's long overdue as well! He should also give songwriting one more shot by composing one about Ray Charles! When he wants to be, Ronnie's an excellent songwriter ("Not For The Love Of You", "Plain and Simple", "Country Cookin'")! Get to it!
I know the Man who had the song that was later published as Piano Man. Little if any Music or Lyric changes. They (thieves)) had heard him in Lounge. Hope the PIGS tipped him for His song. There is Heaven and Hell which are simply the presence or absence of GOD. To people like them I say I will see HIM Ye Shall not. Live by Live Music Live musicians. No Tapes or CD's Kareokee is fine even if I mistyped it. JIMMY

Ronnie Milsap is one of the most respected, talented, and influential country music artists of all time
🤗🤗🤗
We don't have entertainers like this today! Love Ronnie!
This man is the Best entertainer I've ever seen in my life. I've seen many live in concert and none can compare to Mr. Ronnie Milsap, AKA ,WB4KCG
The twelve people who disliked this must have regretted never taking piano lessons.
Some people are just plain stupid and don’t know a good thing when they hear it
What a performer. Wish I'd seen him live. A true, humble superstar.
Had the privilege of seeing him twice. Once when I was 12 and again when I was 55. Loved all his stuff from start to finish!❤

Whos Still Listening in 2020 i know i am

Ronnie's live shows were great. He has this magical way to connect himself with the audience. A truly great entertainer.
A vintage performance by a country music legend, who one day should gain entry into the country music hall of fame, something long overdue.
Wow.
Didn't know this tribute existed.
Never seen Ronnie get into his music like that, even his band members were smiling at his antics.
I've seen him in concert and met him and some of his family. He's done this in many of the concerts I've seen. I also have a CD of him doing it. He can rock the house!

WHEN I WATCH THIS THE WORD "GENIUS" RUNS THRU MY MIND. AND FOR GOOD REASON. RONNIE IS A GENIUS.....
Wow!!..👏👏👏
What a SUPER talent you are Mr Milsap!
And that is why Ronnie Milsap has always been my greatest influence.
Absolutely fantastic, so much talent. New country artists, please take note and stop sounding like pop and rap acts. This has no place in country.

He is coming back to Greensboro in October (2021). I am going if at all possible
Once upon a time there was music like this, but just once upon a time
I cannot view this performance enough, because this performance is outstanding. He was/is amazing 🤩.

Met Ronnie in Dayton Ohio at the Hamvention years ago after having talked to him on ham radio.....what a great guy! His music is the best!

Dave Mitchell Yeah.. I think either he can see a little bit or .. he was told what to do :)
No. He's totally blind. A friend of mine helped set up a concert in Dallas for him several years ago. They ran a thin wire around the edge of the stage so he would know how far to walk when he sang standing, away from his piano.

Talking about. Musician ?? Incredible. Ronnie. Dynamite
@Sloneman a. It's the Grand Ole Opry, which tends to be more polite and well-mannered, plus how many in there are actually younger? b. Um, no, not a very underappreciated artist in country music; he's a very underappreciated artist in music, period.
Ronnie forgot about THE piano man, mr, Billy Joel. Billy wasn't country, but that was his nickname.
Love Ronny! Nuff said.
P.S. That guitar joke had me crack up 😂
Yah ! Yah! It's the best!
I honestly thought this was going to be a tribute to Billy Joel, but boy was I wrong!
That is Last Date by Floyd Cramer
Yes, that too, but it'd probably require a duet partner of some sort, and Ronnie would have to find an older singer for that whom's better than Willie Nelson. (What about Charley Pride?) Ronnie still has time to record that album, so what is he waiting for? It's long overdue as well! He should also give songwriting one more shot by composing one about Ray Charles! thank you so much, that was bugging me realy bad,
What a great fu¢king entertainer he is! What else can I say?
Only missed The Piano Man by Billie Joel. After his time I guess.
I know the Man who had the song that was later published as Piano Man. Little if any Music or Lyric changes. They (thieves)) had heard him in Lounge. Hope the PIGS tipped him for His song. You are crazy if you put Ronnie milsap down you don't know. What music is
Response to self: "...how many in there WERE actually younger..."
@tn6672 trace adkins did a decent version of stranger in my house
5:47what's the official title of that riff?
what is the song he palys at 5:46 i cant think of it, i know it and its bugging me bad,
I thought Billy Joel was the “piano man.”
What song is that at 5:48? my grandpa used to play it all the time..
"Last Date" by Floyd Cramer is the instrumental...Skeeter Davis had a monster hit of it with lyrics! Great song for sure.
seven spanish angels would be a good one to do
e
Like ronnie milsap BUT NOT COMMERCIALS IN MIDDLE OF HIS SINGING!!! STOP IT!!!
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listening to my music❤❤
