It would be so cool if, when the dirty city was complete, you tried to eliminate all the pollution, go completely solar, put trees everywhere and make-over everything to be super pretty and clean!
I agree. Most city skylines aesthetic UA-camrs have infinite cash because they'd go into debt. James, on the other hand, can make money and have an aesthetically pleasing city :)
Really loving this city so far. I live in a city that is on a bay and has both an oil processing plant and a pulp and paper mill in the middle of it so it really feels like home haha. There are also train tracks in the middle with tons of crude oil tanks sitting on them. I wonder if it possible to get oil tank train assets as decorations that would allow you to do something similar in this city. It's really sketchy in real life but would look cool in game.
As much as I love _Cities: Skylines,_ I generally suck at city building games. I am ridiculously jealous of how you, ConflictNerd, and two dollars twenty make this stuff look fairly effortless. (I know it's not, but it sure as hell looks that way.) :-)
The Move It option to the left of the snapping button and to the right of the import/export buttons, with the wavy line, toggles "follow terrain." If you de-select that, you won't have to keep re-leveling everything with the "match heights" button after moving a selection with Move It, it will remain level at the same height whenever you move it.
"They had a speed limit of 80 km/h which I think is pretty high" ... For a road in the middle of nowhere with 2 lanes each direction divided? Just saying that 100 km/h is common on normal roads between towns around here, and the next bigger place has a normal (1 lane each direction) going 70 km/h right in the middle of it. I just want to mention that for me personally your choice of speeds seem odd for km/h at times...
@@sumant5588 well he did say "kilometer an hour" ( about 14:55 ) I mean the game never tells us whether it is km/h or mph. but the signs do remind me more of the km/h signs around here, and it would also make more sense looking at the spacing in steps of 10 tbh...
@@countrye3013 I think he meant pretty much meant the entire road, even then... I live in Europe. Roads that ARENT bendy are rare. I do admit that the one stretch of road there might be a bit slowed down, but even then (comparing to my real life place I look at) the limit mostly doesnt get changed, only really sharp turns (90°+) get slowed down, and then either 80 or 70... In real life they are usually seperate too for much the same reason. They just segregated some lines in Adelaide in the north and south, the Sydney Metropolitan Freight network is also largely segregated as you enter the metropolitan railway network zone.
At 28:48 you can see that the toll booth wasn't charging any cars or trucks. Is it because of the traffic manager mod, or just because it had no water and power?
Maybe make the bay area really clean, fancy and modern. And the rest really dirty and industrial so there is a contrast between the more wealthy and less wealthy areas.
in moveit, to the right of the popup that says new in 2.2.whatever, there are two buttons. the one at the bottom toggles the underground view. don't know if there's a hotkey though
once you finish all these episodes you should build a proper town in this map because its nice where the water pumps are and where the power stations are and build the main town where your town is now
Beginning of the episode: “I’m not going to buy all of the tiles because I’ll stay more focussed.” *proceeds to buy multiple tiles.* *gets intensely distracted.* End of the episode: “Ohhhh! I totally forgot about the farming industry I said I was going to do.” I’ve been drunk consistently since Sedona because of how many times you’ve been distracted 🤣
I'm positive RCI demands are broken, especially with the industries dlc. It results in high industry demand, though the industry you havr abandons because there is no place to sell their goods
Those tanks next your power plants contain crude oil. That's the gunk that has just come out of the earth and hasn't been refined into fuel yet. I'm guessing they aren't going to use that in your power plants.
And if you think 80kmph is a little high for a hilly area like that, come visit BC, Canada, and I'll take you for a drive through the Fraser Canyon. 100kmph (posted speed limit, not that anyone does that), with a cliff face on one side, and a sheer drop to the Fraser River on the other. No big deal. ;-)
Can you do a block of flats park please the concept is this:build a bigger road then a smaller road comes of (leave bigger gaps between them) then build tiny road and then on those tiny roads zone with high density residental. Thanks ! It would remember the city i live in
put warehouses next to the oil plants instead and change it to zoned oil industry because the crude oil isn't the processed oil the zoned oil industry makes which is what they need to run
Flabs I really like the shorter (30min) videos as when the videos used to be an hour long I struggled to get to watch it all and I got behind in the series by ages so please don't go back to the long episodes like in previous cities series
Honestly, i already love this city! but i feel like theres too many timelapses.. the tedious work is okay being timelapsed, but zoning and road lay-out I like seein real time..
The waste from a nuclear power plant, as well as the threat of radiation leak, can be pretty nasty too...just saying. :D It's a shame that the power plants are not upgradeable like in the SimCity. The coal power plant in CS is just too small and also quite weird looking, not to mention that you'd probably had to use dozens of them to power a big city. I hope they will implement updated power plants and utilities in general (like underground electricity cables).
Oh I want to see you work with canals, because big concrete canals seems like a thing an ugly industrial city would attempt to do to get the water working through the city
Jessica Schmidt yeah, I’m from Michigan as well and Detroit has actually been cleaned up a lot. It’s the internet I try not to get butthurt but the Detroit stereotype gets annoying after awhile.

@@josuazeroo2011 Then it would be Troit.

Out of all the Cities Skylines UA-camrs out there, I think you do the best job balancing city functionality and aesthetics.
Yes.
I agree. Most city skylines aesthetic UA-camrs have infinite cash because they'd go into debt. James, on the other hand, can make money and have an aesthetically pleasing city :)
I think most of the youtubers go in hyper detailing and can't make a big and fonctionnal city like him
@@mathieul1476 That or they start to micro-manage the game so that the fun drains out.
oil power plants don't use raw oil. it's refined oil. you are currently storing raw unprocessed oil near them.
29:30 try setting the oil tanks to “Fill” instead of “Balanced”.
Also, add more tollbooths on the highways and bridges!
I really appreciate James pumping out the content, new industries, restarting supersim, AND bigwallet family. What a man
You should eventually make a really nice area for all of the rich factory owners and stuff, whilst the rest of the city is dirty and polluted.
Yess! And I want it to be private and far away from the industries, with a lake and everything
It should be a gated community up in the hills, facing towards the bey area, not looking down over the industry.
Episode three and I'm already invested in this series
The oil tanks you put in by the power plants store crude oil and power plants need fuel oil which is made from crude oil

Moveit has the button specifically for underground view, no need to enter bulldoze mode.
James: you know what this road is good for?
Me: touge?
James: Toll Booths!

James, you should just paint the oil resource down, at the powerplants. That way they don’t have to import it

as the Japanese town map & high polluted industrial development,
I think about the story of Hayao Miyazaki's "Princess Mononoke" :)
Can we expect a floor of death goo to overtake the town at some point then?

You should put some walls along the edges of the river to make it look more industrial
Maybe make the bay area really clean, fancy and modern. And the rest really dirty and industrial so there is a contrast between the more wealthy and less wealthy areas.

Would love to see a industrial area like in Sedona whit different heights and canals and mostly concrete!
You should have a massive nuclear power plant facility
80 kmph on that road doesnt seem unreasonable. Most low traffic windy mountain roads that I've been on are usually at least 55 mph.
You don't have to zone the industry at the oil power plant because warehouse doesn't have to be in zoned industry
Heey @Jamesturner you need to get traffic manager, turn off if you want to work with THE tollbouth, than you get chash flow.

A lot of Southern California actually gets it's water from pipes that go up and over the mountains. So mountain pipes are 100% legit!

it will be awesome if instead of destroying the city, at the end of the series, you turn it to the other side and make it all eco friendly hahahaha!
idk if this is just a thing in my area, but they always have nice schools is ghetto areas bc they want a better education opportunities for the kids
Do some pedestrian bridges acros the river
Yes
Can you build a small rich residential zone where the owners of the industry would live and have no pollution.
Im not sure but i think your bridges in the city are floating on poop water lol. Maybe lift them up a bit or make the river bed deeper
