I really hope whatever she turns to be, she stays our dear friend and companion.
I grew to like Paimon and would be betrayed if she reveals herself as a villain

@@Zero-mq8pc yes, because paimon isn't a descender/outlander. that still doesnt prove anything since she could just be faking.. Everyone in teyvat will forget whatever things that have been erased from Irminsul except for descenders/outlanders :).
My personal belief has always been very simple, Paimon's crown is literally on the Genshin logo, Genshin means Original God, therefore Paimon is the Original God.
Genshin also refers to Allogenes (vision bearers)

To be honest I've always seen paimon as the time goddess of the time feature in the game but I never really noticed that we fish her out from near tge unknown island
That is a possibility. I don't believe she is a diminished primordial one tho, that person is a descender out of this world. that means he can't be affected by irminsul. Paimon can be affected and loses memories if irminsul is tampered with. So she probably is someone else. Maybe istaroth like you said?

@@pegacionspiral9451Well that just make it more unlikely then, Irminsul wasn't even created when Phanes fought against the second who came, Phanes or maybe even a descender should have created the Irminsul, all the shades are the only reason why the teyvat we know of today look like that, that just make it less possible for Paimon to be Istaroth

If we take the wanderer arcon quest at face value, paimon would be from teyvat or a fallen being from celestia. This is confirmed by her not remembering wanderer or the greater lord. You could say she is lying, but there’s only one small line of text that possibly makes that theory plausible. After the wanderer regained his memories, paimon said “there’s that same tone again.” She basically talked as if she still knew him. Of course shorty before, they did just get a slideshow of wanderer’s memories and he was talking there so that point is kinda flawed and can be chopped up to poor wording. All in all, it mainly seems like paimon is a being from teyvat or celestia
just going by name and a ton of foreshadowing, she is clearly a fairy and a God of Teyvat, perhaps much older than any existing God or Archon to remember. But the name adds a possibility of her being one of the 4 shades because Paimon is one of the 4 demon kings, while all the other Gods/Archons have names of dukes among demons
edit: Altho even the dragons like Apep don't seem to recognize her if she was indeed one of the 4 who fought them with the Primordial one

I took screenshots of a few voice lines she had, she mentions the words goddess in her dialogues.
She calls herself the Goddess/God of Protection but nobody's taken her seriously.
She also always mentions about primordial wrath 🤔

Yeah, Paimon calls herself a goddess or a god a couple of times in the game, its others who call her a fairy or a human.

The story that ends up being real is the one that the most fans endorse and make lore about.
As game developers and lore makers, all we have to do is sprinkle little bits of information we have. We don't have to have a solid idea figured out yet, we just introduce tidbits we like and wait for the players to make their own conclusions, sometimes giving us ideas better than what he had planned.
Hell her name being a demon from the Ars Goetia much like the other Archons associates her in that department as well.

Yea, The Primordial One defeated the dragons and their leader twice. Including Neuvillette's full strength predecessor iirc Neuvillette is a reborn Sovereign so he wasn't around during that war.

If Paimon is truly the Primordial One or what remains of the being? Paimon seems to have fragmented memories yet holds a good amount of knowledge on Teyvat as if she's been there. Whatever happened between her and The second who came, The Archon War and The Cataclysm, someone or something had to have kept their gaze on all of these events and knows the truth. I'm hoping for a definite lore bomb.

I think that "Surtalogi" is the one who definitely knows and perhaps have tried to warn many, but according to Skirk, no one without a heightened common sense equivalent to Gods could understand them.
Paimon knows something.. we can use that scene from Wriosthley's story quest.. when Paimon touched the black gem, she said she doesn't like what the gem did and it reminded her of something bad.. we can see that the bad vision is a vision from the past as Traveller saw their twin vanishing and Wriosthley seeing the time he found out about the exploitation his adoptive parents does with their children and when killed them.. so by that we can assume Paimon saw something from her past..
What if that black primogem on the side of Paimon's head is a dead giveaway
Since it is literally a primordial gem that is said to hold the hopes and dreams of universes that once were? She also wears the same symbol that's been plastered all over the destroyed ruins all around Teyvat in fragments. That same symbol of three shapes overlapping to symbolize unification amongst the realms, the old civilization of humanity that's lost to time. It's a giveaway that she was indeed part of that time frame seemingly giving Paimon existence more questions than answers.
What if it's turned black because Paimon herself has forgotten her previous role long ago? What if her memories are slowly coming back to her and she doesn't even notice it herself? Did the Primordial One come to Teyvat to establish a newfound civilization of humanity because their universe was destroyed?
What happened to Nahida and Rukkadevata is what i believe happened to Paimon. Growth in reverse after expending so much power during the khanri'ah catalclism, after which celestia has been eerily silent since and the throne is said to be empty

This is saying if the Second who came was Asmoday (Unknown God) and the Primordial One was indeed Paimon, they fought a battle against each other that sunk the Enkanomiya into the dark sea. During this battle, Paimon would've lost the power of authority over the old world and Asmoday could've been the cause of it or perhaps something else lurking. But it was said that the Primordial One was indeed gravely injured but they both came together to govern the world through the use of Gnosis, the remains of the third descender. If the dragon king was indeed Nibelung because he acquired the power of darkness from outside of the world to go against the heavenly principles, did he leave Teyvat to gain this knowledge or was he given this knowledge on a silver platter?
There's so many possibilities but with the fact that Irmunsul could be modified, anything could've been covering up the truth and I think it's with our journey that we actually see truths come to light before tragedy strikes each nation.

@@Zyphernetic Personally im of the belief that Nibelung is the second who came since he returned after gaining forbidden knowledge from the abyss. Asmoday is the sustainer of heavenly principles so she works under the heavenly principles themselves, that being the primordial one, so I cant really see her being the second who came.
Paimon can’t be the primordial one bc she was affected by Irminsul during the sumeru archon quest ;; we’ve established before that the primordial one IS A DESCENDER and thus wouldn’t be affected by this change as well.

But is it because Paimon is "no longer" in her original state that she is affected by Irmunsul? From what we can see, Irmunsul can be modified since Scara was able to eliminate himself from history and become the wanderer BUT we are able to remember him.
It could be that she could've been modified into Irmunsul as a part of Teyvat to either hide her identity and be able to mingle in the world with humanity without too much hassle about her appearance since everyone seems perfectly normal towards her. You raise a good point though that it's odd for her to be affected by Irmunsul but it would also push the narrative of her most likely doing it on purpose to sedate the theory that she could be or part of the Primordial One. Irmunsul could just be her Alibi and Nahida pretty much sealed that.
The third descender was able to change the laws of teyvat so they mightve had a play in it as well unless the time lines don't add up forget this input
Or you know- it could be a Light Yagami situation and Paimon or someone else gave her amnesia and made her part of the world. We’ve seen from people like Raiden/Ei and Focalor/Furina that two beings can technically inhabit the same body. So maybe Paimon is just the other half of the Primordial One and doesn’t realize it.

The reason she never says “My name is Paimon”, if not rarely, is actually because when she talks about herself, she likes to talk about herself in the 3rd person “Paimon is Paimon!” and stuff like that. Only extremely rarely does she refer to herself as “me” or “I”.

i think she could be the weakened form of the primordial one. we’ve seen with Nahida that when she puts a lot of energy into something it turned her into her current child body. After the war with the Second Who Came the same thing might have happened to the primordial one. but that’s just a theory, A GENSHIN THEORY!(i had to lol)

The chess pieces theory is also interesting and supports the 7 elements theory, tho a bit too far fetched (havent finished the fontaine quest because im lazy). I absolutely love how genshin gives you hints towards completely oposite answers so you cant realt decypher anything until its revealed
