I figured it was an implosion from the start with this being titanium and carbon fiber- the first of its kind. It wouldn't make sense for them to lose power before they had even reached the depth they were headed for, and getting caught on debris probably wouldn't lead to them losing a signal. A fire was unlikely, leaving only one main option left really. I think the submersible should have gone under more testing- even sending it to the depths without anyone in it to test its resistance to the harsh conditions.

I think they were in the process of trying to lose ballast and then the implosion happened because the structural integrity of the vessel had been comprimsed over several 'successful' dives....so tragic.
I’m so sorry about this terrible outcome. Rest in peace all of them onboard the sub Titan . You were passionate adventurous people and will be remembered just like that. Love & peace ✌️ 😢♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️👊🏼
Sincerest condolences to all affected by this terrible tragedy. The outpouring a grief from the public says an awful lot about how many of us appreciate how fragile and precious life is. To anyone reading this... Take care and let's be grateful for the gift of life. Some do not have that privilege x
I don’t know what they expected to happen… their Dollar General submarine wasn’t going to survive this. Regardless if it made it before, it was only a matter of time before it was going to implode.
Now they are saying the five crew members onboard the submersible Titan were probably killed instantly in a “catastrophic implosion” as it descended to the wreck of the Titanic two miles below the surface of the Atlantic ocean, US Coast Guard officials announced today. A large debris field containing multiple sections of the vessel was spotted earlier in the day by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) scouring the seabed near the Titanic wreck site 400 miles south of St John’s, Newfoundland. The debris is consistent with the loss of the pressure chamber. I think this is total waste. Those people paid $250,000 to essentially kill themselves for nothing. I find it ridiculous that people are even attempting to view the Titanic. That's essentially a graveyard down there. Leave those poor souls alone and let them rest in peace!😡
This is what I call great reporting. Josh has humility and integrity when reporting all while being responsible and respectful to the victims and their families ❤
In 1898, fourteen years before the sinking of the Titanic, the novel The Sinking of the Titan: Or the Futility, by the writer Morgan Robertson, was first published. The story spoke of the sinking of an ocean liner considered unsinkable. The book went largely unnoticed until, on the morning of April 15, 1912, it became a reality with the sinking of the Titanic. This story and its supposed curse have re-emerged in the foreground due to the new tragedy of the new submersible named Titan......... that visited the Titanic...
What makes me angry is there was an employee of the owner of this sub had rang alarm bells regarding safety issues and instead of heading the warnings his concerns were dismissed and he was fired. This was reckless and a needless loss of innocent life. My condolences to the families. So sad.
The 100% plastic, X Box controller, for steerage of a 400,000 dollar sub, making 600,000 euros a dive, cost prohibitively, 30,000 euros less, than their X Box controller. Nice savings.
I cant imagine their fear, and their worst nightmare coming true. I really feel for the mother who lost her son who hadn't even started life yet, and loosing her husband at the same time. Im so sorry for all who lost their loved ones in the Titan.
They got a warning signal go off inside the sub alerting them to the hull becoming compromised, they tried to shed weight to ascent to avoid implosion but there wasn't enough time and tragically it ended this way. I just hope it was quick.
JB, The respectful nature and humble attitude in which you conducted yourself was so refreshing. You asked all the right questions and had an intelligent dialogue with Mark Martin and other guests. I’m am truly a fan of yours forever. I look forward to your next story and coverage. Let’s all hope it ends with a happier ending this time.
Put five drops of red food coloring into a swimming pool, then try to recover them a few days later. That would be easier than finding any human remains after a catastrophic decompression at 400 atmospheres.
A scenario involving a submarine with a leak and subsequent implosion due to pressure differences can be quite dangerous and potentially fatal. Here's a general understanding of what could happen: 1. Leak and Squeaking: When a submarine develops a leak, it can result in the entry of water into the vessel. This can cause a rapid increase in pressure within the submarine, leading to unusual sounds such as squeaking due to the stress on the structure. 2. Implosion: If the structural integrity of the submarine is compromised and cannot withstand the pressure differential between the inside and outside of the vessel, it may lead to an implosion. This occurs when the external pressure exceeds the internal pressure, causing the submarine to collapse inward. 3. Immediate Danger: The implosion can happen suddenly and violently, resulting in a catastrophic event. The rapid change in pressure and structural failure can lead to severe damage and potential loss of life. In such a situation, the individuals on board the submarine would face significant risks, including rapid water ingress, loss of breathable air, and potential physical trauma caused by the implosion itself. Surviving such an event would be highly unlikely without prompt intervention and escape from the submarine. It's crucial to note that this scenario describes an extreme and dangerous situation, and real-life submarine accidents involve a range of factors that can vary in severity. The safety protocols, design, and emergency procedures of submarines aim to prevent such incidents and protect the crew in case of emergencies. Credit: ChatGPT
For those wondering, No pain as a result of this kinda of death at these depths of the ocean, the pressure is nearly impossible to comprehend At that depth, the pressure is nearly 6,000 PSI, your nerves wouldn't even have time to send a signal to your brain to register pain as your skull and lungs are crushed within micro seconds. You simply cease to exist at that depth, the implosion would create a heat of thousands of degree's as hot as the sun as the air exploded from the pressure cooking everything in it and then shredding human bodies to tiny fleshy bits mixed with submarine shrapnel traveling at subsonic speeds
I'm so broken hearted that 5 human souls were lost in an endeavor of curiosity. I truly hope that inevitability had mercy on all of them when the time came. That said, with very little details and an abundance of speculation, I surmise that moments before communication was lost with Titan, and whether the crew was aware or not, water intrusion caused a short in the electrical system. Consequently, buoyancy began to decrease as the vessel took on more water and exponentially descended at a higher rate. Since the electrical system failed, the thrusters were offline, so little could be done to stop the decent except jettison the ballast weights. Even then, under nominal conditions, ascent relies on buoyancy and working thrusters. If both fail, gravity takes over. At some point, the area where the water intrusion occurred, grew due to increasing external water pressure. This in-turn would have resulted in a complete and instantaneous implosion of the entire vessel. As of the most recent press briefing today (Thursday June 22 3pmEST), a debris field has been found about 1300 feet from Titanic. The field consisted of the landing frame, rear cover, front end bell and aft end bell (still attached to main pressure vessel?). Any details about the size of this field would help explain whether structural failure happened far up off of the sea floor or if failure was the result of the vessel impacting the sea floor. Rest assured, all will be revealed. All parties responsible will be investigated. The thing I'd like to put forward is the following. When it comes to innovation that involves dangerous environments and human lives, the upmost respect and consideration for both MUST be maintained throughout the entire process. Especially if this new idea is designed to protect one from the other. I'll leave it at that. I wish the families of the victims the best as they navigate the sorrow they now face. May love and support tower over the mountains of anger and spite.
This is one of the saddest things I have experienced this in my lifetime. I've been fascinated by Titanic ever since I was 7 and seeing this happen to 5 people shatters my heart, condolences for the families of these brave victims. 🙏
Saddest? 9/11? Catastrophic hurricanes? Mass shootings? They don't shatter your heart? Get a grip. I'll save my empathy, sadness and compassion for the poor, neglected, abused human beings.
Get the facts straight. The Coast Guard did not hear the implosion. The Navy heard a “sound anomaly.” These are two completely organizations. It took some time for the information regarding the sound anomaly to reach the Coast Guard. Also, while the sound was heard around the time that the sub lost communication with its mother, the Coast Guard was not contacted by OceanGate regarding the missing sub until 7.5 hours after they lost comms and when the Navy heard the sound. In other words, the Navy heard what that could have been a tree falling in the woods, but there had been no report of a tree falling in the woods. And I am quite sure the Coast Guard wasn’t told that either. The Coast Guard was told by OceanGate that the sib was merely missing. Given what we now know of Stockton’s arrogant and cavalier attitude regarding the safety and worthiness of his “innovative” sub, the Coast Guard probably did not know the sub was made of substandard material which would in an implosion, either. OceanGate has not been vigilant or truthful about their pos sub from the start. If anyone is to blame for any of this tragedy and subsequent drama, it is Stockton and Wendy Rush and their employees at OceanGate. They are charlatans and liars. All of this would have been avoided if that POS had heeded the many, many warnings and not continued with one single launch of his death trap.
It's perplexing as to why they waited so long before reaching out for help. You would think as soon as they lost communication they would have immediately done something. 😢
Then having the world of ocean vessels, militairy aircraft, deep sea submersibles all race to your location to look for missing sub and 3 minutes later, communication with missing sub is established. OceanGate to rescuers: "Nah, my bad bro, we found 'em. Ya'll can all go back now" See how stupid that idea is? You have to be sure the sub is missing in the first place. This same sub lost communication before on a previous dive and that communication was re-established soon after it was lost.

Stockton Rush on why he developed his Titan sub…“We started with the idea that there had to be some type of business opportunity in exploring the ocean.” From his interview on television channel KING 5’s “New Day Washington” daytime talk show, August 18, 2022
I'm sure the fact that the CEO himself was on board gave people a false sense of security. But a good part of it too was probably just pride and eagerness to buy these rare experiences.
When it lost contact probably which is 1:45 hrs into its descent? So maybe the thing was at 8000ft depth, most likely the viewport instantly imploded which I think would be the weakest part.

Plenty of trips were taken safely. Accidents happen. Should no one ever fly because planes crash sometimes? Same for cars. Car accidents happen constantly yet people still drive.
I find it quite interesting that there is no pictures from these ROVs Showing any wreckage of the submarine yet they are telling us that there are debris of the sub that they are finding. I was just wondering since all ROVs have cameras and these pictures should’ve been presented to the people that are in the news and doing the news forecast as proof of what they are finding. Remote control vehicles have cameras where are the pictures? The pictures are usually uploaded to computer aboard the ship so they are there if that’s what they are seeing. Why are we not seeing the pictures also in the news? I was just wondering?
Besides the fact that this is both a grave yard we and evidence.... Since they'd already communicated what they found with the media, sharing pictures probably wasn't a priority so much as doing the work of documenting the site and collecting the pieces.
They’re saying the sound was probably coming from the other rescue ships. The implosion happened before the rescue vehicles arrived or else it would definitely been caught on sonar.

Yes!!!! All of this!!! ✌️
I would do them that favor too if they paid me, they we’re pretty generous
I’ll slap together some plexiglass and gorilla glue too 😂
This is what I call great reporting.
So sad.
Maybe the [one that they fired did something??
The 100% plastic, X Box controller, for steerage of a 400,000 dollar sub, making 600,000 euros a dive, cost prohibitively, 30,000 euros less, than their X Box controller. Nice savings.
I cant imagine their fear, and their worst nightmare coming true. I really feel for the mother who lost her son who hadn't even started life yet, and loosing her husband at the same time. Im so sorry for all who lost their loved ones in the Titan.
♡
It exploded, they didn't feel nothing. Hopefully.
condolences and Great Coverage!.. this is Tragic!
Thank you both for your outstanding transfer of knowledge and information.
Thanks Mark!!

Here's a general understanding of what could happen:

It imploded... There is nothing to recover but the metal parts. Bodies and other light objects were obliterated.
Thank you guyysssss for livestreaming all day. ❤ Wow.. What a tragedy. So sorry to all the families that lost their loves ones. 😔
For those wondering, No pain as a result of this kinda of death at these depths of the ocean, the pressure is nearly impossible to comprehend
At that depth, the pressure is nearly 6,000 PSI, your nerves wouldn't even have time to send a signal to your brain to register pain as your skull and lungs are crushed within micro seconds.

Thing is the second the sub imploded the coast guard heard it. Question is why did they play the “we don’t know what happened” game
That’s not the way it works
Then having the world of ocean vessels, militairy aircraft, deep sea submersibles all race to your location to look for missing sub and 3 minutes later, communication with missing sub is established. OceanGate to rescuers: "Nah, my bad bro, we found 'em. Ya'll can all go back now"
See how stupid that idea is? You have to be sure the sub is missing in the first place. This same sub lost communication before on a previous dive and that communication was re-established soon after it was lost.
what could they have done when all comms are lost?
@@marissa5664 they still have time to repent
I think they couldnt communicate because they may had an implosion on the way down and things happened all too quick

Thank you JB...excellent broadcast, Mark was so informative...you both truly are exceptional...Prayers for the loved ones lost, my heart breaks for you 💔 ...woke up this morning and had to thank you for yesterday 🙏
My Condolences to all involved 🙏
When I heard this vessel was missing. My hairs stood up like on the day the Challenger was lost. Even though totally different events and circumstances. That feeling of doom was evident in my system.
Stockton Rush on why he developed his Titan sub…“We started with the idea that there had to be some type of business opportunity in exploring the ocean.”
From his interview on television channel KING 5’s “New Day Washington” daytime talk show, August 18, 2022
How could reasonable people dive to deep of the ocean inside this piece of sh.....t!!!
The prideful & careless CEO man. He sold it good to them
I'm sure the fact that the CEO himself was on board gave people a false sense of security. But a good part of it too was probably just pride and eagerness to buy these rare experiences.
And you believe a made up story 😂 👍
I'd like to know when it imploded
When it lost contact probably which is 1:45 hrs into its descent? So maybe the thing was at 8000ft depth, most likely the viewport instantly imploded which I think would be the weakest part.
I enjoy getting the news from you!
I stayed up last night“, and the night before, and the night before, waiting for good news.
I got to babysit today, and was playing some lava game when the news announced our brothers were dead.
I’m broken now, I need to fill in the gaps.
I’m praying for our lost souls!
I hope the implosion was done quick.
Thank you for your amazing coverage of this sad story. Mark Martin was a great source of information and a nature on! I hope you get to home and get some sleep!

It's what we were all expecting but it's still so shocking to know they're all dead.

Such a stupid waste of life. They knew it wasn’t ready to go that deep and they did it anyway. Carelessness at its finest.

I’m sure they were already gone before they looked
What was under water knocking every 30 minutes? I thought they discovered some kind of sound underwater.
They’re saying the sound was probably coming from the other rescue ships. The implosion happened before the rescue vehicles arrived or else it would definitely been caught on sonar.
Thoughts are with the families of the 5. Love you JB, a phenomenal job indeed!
My thought and prayers
