She was superb in any role she played. Loved her in Christmas in Connecticut (1945) and Titanic (1953). The Big Valley is one of my all time favorite television shows because of her portrayal of Victoria, the Barkley family matriarch.
If you liked her in that role , check out a fun movie of her's called "Ladies of Burlesque" (1943) where she plays a stripper trying to solve the murder of her fellow strippers by a serial killer who strangles them with their G-strings! I kid you not! How this got past the censors of the day I'll never know. The movie is based on a novel written by the famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee and incorporates a glimpse into the life she led in Burlesque. A really fun murder mystery.
She was fabulous!

She was fantastic as Sugarpuss O'Shea in Ball of Fire with Gary Cooper.

My second-favourite actress, only the width of a gnat's eyelash behind Katharine Hepburn. Superb every time out! 🌟
Wow, she had a tough life starting out
