@@CosmoWeems I also watched and enjoyed the second video of camping/ boondocking in Canada along Lake Superior. I really need to get a passport so I can do the loop around Lake Superior.
Hi Cosmo, I’m going back over some of your older vids that I’d not seen....always entertaining! You’re a great narrator (but I already knew that!) and your advice/hints have helped me often. Glad you enjoyed the North Shore area of MN-Peace, Dale/MN!
I absolutely love your narration, your up-beat attitude, sense of adventure, appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors, your clever ideas, and your love for solitude!! I started RV-ing back in 1984, have owned 4 motorhomes, and now an 18' R-Pod. As a flight attendant for 32 yrs with Delta, I full-timed and flew at the same time for 6 years....And loved every minute! (And these were the years without cell phones, WiFi, and solar.) As a single woman on the road, I honestly never felt like I was in harm's way. YOU are a joy!!
Great Mary. Hopefully we will meet on the road some day and share your adventures! Hugs =Cosmo Check my other videos ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweems SUBSCRIBE ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweems?sub_confirmation=1
There's a YT from Mortons On The Move, while in the Yukon on the Canol Rd., had porcupines chewing the wire underneath the truck late one night, did major damage. The husband was an electrical engineer, had an amazing tool set with him, soldered and heat shrunk a repair. I was impressed
Ha wildlife is unpredictable. I have been very fortunate with wild life. We get along well (cant say the same about humans). Porcupines love salt. Will even sample tires if they have road salt on them. The ones I have shared camp with were quite nice and wandered around camp checking things out without incident. I just help them find the exit once they have checked out camp. 𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘! ✅ Check my other videos ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweems =𝓒𝓸𝓼𝓶𝓸 ✅

I always enjoy your camping trips, your straight forward advice, and good sense. Hope you didn’t scratch the car or the camper too badly. You are living well. Way to go! Texas
I have done this same trip, but camping with a tent. Worst bugs (ever!) were in the same areas as you experienced. Enjoy watching your travels. A teardrop trailer looks like a very attractive way to travel. Camping with a tent has gotten old for this older adult! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Thanks Diana. I cant wait to be back on the road again. I am currently tied down maybe till August then I expect to get back on the road and have unlimited exploring and travel fun! =Cosmo
@@CosmoWeemsyou have to take care of responsibilities so you can enjoy your travels. Busy looking at teardrops online. Giving myself an education. Add a few kernels of rice to your salt ,it will absorb humidity and keep your salt free of clumps.however you need a shaker top on the salt to keep the rice in as you shake the salt out
Must be high humidity here. tired a stainless steel bolt to break up the salt when I shake it, I tried rice and a number of containers so far the Nalgene is working best for me. Thanks for the suggestion! I am always searching for a better solution.. Regards =Cosmo
Small hand held vacuums like Dust Busters are chargeable from inside your car, but you have to use them quickly and efficiently too. Heat guns do use a lot of electrical energy, but there should be good energy efficient models out there for use on just one connection.
I use straight white vinegar and then simply wipe off with paper towels for dishes and pans. Also walmarts usually have garbage cans next to where the carts are out in the parking lot for trash disposal. Cheers.
I love the North Shore! Very meditative, spiritual place. An excellent place to reground one's self. Middle of winter here in the Twin Cities, and I'm missing Gitche Gumee big time. I have a basic wood teardrop trailer which was made by a retired gentleman in WI. Just the bones basically which I custom fit with mods I dream up in winter. I'm thinking of how I can add a cutting board/table to slide under my counter, and an idea popped into my head as I saw you pull yours out. I am very surprised that you did not get a knock on your window at Split Rock with a 'move along now', but i suspect that kindness was shown due to you NJ plates. I'm jealous because us Minnesotans and Wisconsonites are sadly expected to know better, so less grace for us. Did you know there is a place just south of Two Harbors north of Duluth, along Old 61 called Stony Point? It's a fantastic stop on one's way up to the N. Shore where you can walk along huge rock shelves and, if the weather is right, get splashed by the waves. People even surf there! (Check out YT channel for Stony Point Surfers). Plus there is a shop not too far from there which sells excellent smoked fish from the Lake, which keeps well on trips. So glad you enjoyed one of the most beautiful places on our planet! Thanks for taking us along. You gave me the North Shore in warmer weather fix I needed for this month. I have subscribed. P.S. 3 word suggestion: cast iron pans
Hi Paule. O must state that I did pay for the camping the next morning and they were very nice about it. Thanks for the tip! I will put it on my list for the future. I loved the remoteness of MN the Upper Peninsula and WI. They are 3 worlds to themselves. The remoter the town along Superior the more I loved it. I have family in Saint Paul and that is where the trailer was made so there is more MN in my future. Thanks Paula. So nice to discuss vacation in the dead of winter =Cosmo
@@CosmoWeems oh I was pretty sure you paid when I saw that you spent time there during the day, ;-) But they don't allow overnight parking except for those registered in campsites (you have to write down your vehicle's license when your register in ). They may let you sleep for 2 hours or so, but not much more then that, the the rangers will knock on your window, otherwise that lot would be constantly filled. They knew you were there alright. Camping spots are precious on the N.S. May - Oct 7 days a wk, especially with the State Parks, which are now 100% reservable and more often then not fully booked 6 to 9 months in advance, a year for weekends. That was what I was referring to. I hate that the campsites at the S.P.s are 100% reservable. I've been going up there for over30 yrs and up until 3 years ago it used to be 1/3 to 1/4 were kept as 1st come 1st serve, nonreservable, which gave more people an opportunity to get up there when they could as not everyone can plan a year in advance, plus one could go after seeing the weather forecasts. But state forests are still 1st come 1st serve, and due to them being pit toilets only, one can usually find a spot Sun - Wed/Thur. I knew there were boondocking sites, but their locations were a well kept secret. So you rather widened my world. Thanks for the website link.
Thank you so much for your video, I used to live in Duluth many years ago, and am hoping to do so boon docking in the area, in 2020. It was terrific to see my previous stomping grounds.

If there is any doubt I get out and measure. Rocks, ruts, and over confidence are the big risks. It helps to have a spotter with you to help. I dont have a spotter so I get out and check often. Everything is a compromise including van vs trailer.. The risk of "bad guys" id very low where I am going. To put that in perspective there are 16,000 human on human murders a year in the USA. The large majority of those are in urban areas and with people who know each other. There are less than one black bear attack a year and fatalities are less. I just got my GSI toaster in today. I love it. I will be trying it out just as soon as I get some English Muffins or maybe I'll just make some toast one day. I bought a Lodge flame diffuser to use underneath it.
Nice. I love my toaster and I love toast! I have not used a diffuser with the toaster. I just have to have the mental focus to keep an eye on the toast. I look for the first wisps of smoke an an indicator for when I have her over. I wanted to let you know I am truly impressed with your equipment (camping gear)! =Cosmo
Thanks. I'm not even done yet. Lol. I bought the diffuser first just to have one for my cook-stove, thinking I could also use it to toast bread, and then I saw the toaster. After reading some of the reviews for the toaster, I figured it would be a good idea to have the diffuser in the mix. I'm sure I won't *need* to use it, but I'm glad to have it just in case.
Ya once your on the road it will all fit together and maybe a few little tweaks here and there. I did well on the equipment analysis and only got rid of a few things and a few tweaks. I ditched the round storage containers for left overs (wasted space in a square cooler/fridge ) and purchased collapsible square containers which fit better.
I'm not much into plastic, but I think I can get square glass containers for leftovers. I realize it's heavier and can break but it's a safer material, especially when dealing with hot food.

Hi Cosmo, I’m going back over some of your older vids that I’d not seen....always entertaining! You’re a great narrator (but I already knew that!) and your advice/hints have helped me often. Glad you enjoyed the North Shore area of MN-Peace, Dale/MN!
Loved MN. I will be back.

A wire stripping tool, an electric heat gun, and a little vacuum are very nice to have too.
A several mile long power cord to the mains power supply is good too.
Small hand held vacuums like Dust Busters are chargeable from inside your car, but you have to use them quickly and efficiently too. Heat guns do use a lot of electrical energy, but there should be good energy efficient models out there for use on just one connection.

Welcome to Duluth, my hometown. Twin Cities now. Lots of trips up the North Shore, Gunflint trail, BWCA etc. Have fun.
How he have fun there? Wow....

That's why I want my stove removable.
There are no rules. Do what you like! I carry a small stove so I can cook at other locations if I choose to! Enjoy Thank You Check my other videos ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos SUBSCRIBE ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweems
A good detailer will be able to make that paint look like new once you're done the trip, I wouldn't sweat it at all. Enjoy

I love your humor!!! I love this site at the lake now...especially with the view of the lighthouse...what a plus!! Is it OK to lay the solar panels right on the ground? I'm just curious, as I don't have any solar panels yet, so I am still in the learning phase. "If you have a nice bottom, contact me immediately"...lmbo...you are hilarious...I think I'll just have to subb now...that made my evening...Thanks Cosmo...Enjoy😊
Thanks Janet. You did contact me immediately so I will make some assumptions. Baw haw haw. The solar panels are hungry for sunlight. 10AM to 2PM is prime solar time. You want the solar panel to face the sun just like you had your eyes shut and were sunning your face. At noon when the sun is over head you can lay them flat. Sometimes its so windy you have no choice. You do the best you can! I expect no more or less. Nice hearing from you and do keep in touch. Check my other

@@CosmoWeems you are indeed a hoot, Cosmo...we all need to laugh more...it helps makes those tougher times much easier. Thank you for your insightful info...it definitely helps hearing that from someone who is out there living this way and trying different things and then pleasantly sharing them with others...life is an adventure...at least it should be, if we have worked all our lives and now are retired...this should be the best part of our "time for us". I definitely will watch all of your videos...I love to laugh too and I miss that so much...I was widowed 24 years ago Dec 2018...my late hubby had the best sense of humor and it took us gracefully and lovingly through some of the hardest times we were faced with...but he never gave up...it just wasn't in his vocabulary. He had cancer from Agent Orange, when he was stationed in VietNam back in the mid 60's...he was 25 the first time he was diagnosed and his 3rd bout took his life. Not one day goes by that I don't miss him terribly, between that and the loss of our baby daughter 20 years prior to his...at times I could not even begin to think of how to go on alone...it seems somehow I muddled through, so now I have decided it's time to do something he and I had talked long ago about..."RVing full time or until we get sick of it"...lol And so, the journey will begin here soon...I'll go wherever Mariah's Wind blows me...my journey down "a road less traveled", will become my Passion. 😊🌞🌞🌞🌞
Missing someone in a profound way is the sincerest form of love. I embrace loss. I bath in it. It is good pain. It connects us to ourselves in an age of distraction and comfort. Great video! Love your rig! I like what your doing. I think I would invest in one of those small Honda generator to charge your equipment. Thank you.
Thanks Naa I don't need a generator. I am happy with clean quiet solar. Ha ha ha Im not using a microwave. or any power hogs. I remember in hurricane Sandy fuel was unavailable or a week. SUBSCRIBE ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweems and check my other videos ua-cam.com/users/cosmoweems
you do love avocado's , Any damage to your screen tent ? those guys in site 17 partied till 3 AM , my rain fly was flapping in the wind, making lots of noise, everything held up fine, took less then 10 minutes to break town. It was very nice meeting you !
Hi Rich. Great to meet you and see your exotic setup. I have not gone over the video yet. No damage. I did not fully deploy thr guy lines. Dure was windy Maybe it rocked you to sleep! Police came by this morning and doused the party site fire ring. Officer said he drove by last night to make sure the party did not get out of hand. =Cosmo

@@freedomdove I avoid plastic to. I do use collapsible silicone containers for storing leftovers. I only cook with stainless steel or titanium. I dont want to be oart of the tumor research... Baw haw haw
Put afew rice kernel s in your salt shaker to keep moisture out
I have tried everything. I put a stainless steel bolt in once to help break it up. Maybe its my weather but the Nalgen is the only thing working for me so far
@@CosmoWeems rice will absorb the moisture. Everhere about sticking awet cell phone in rice to dry it out?
Works
@@conniewaite1371 Yeah but he just said he's tried everything, so unless he said otherwise he probably has tried that already.

Love your channel cosmo. I’m totally living through you at the moment until I get our trailer. Hoping for the campinn 560...need the room for the two little ones. Keep it up!! it’s nice to see a fellow jersey camper.
Excellent Matt. I had hoped the stuff I use and show would useful for all RV owners. 560 was at the top of my choices for a long time. =Cosmo
Trying to avoid mosquitos in Northern MN in the Summer? Good luck!
I'm amused that you were looking for the ultimate quiet spot while listening to the 1812 Overture.
I understand. When your taking $60K of gear down a trail that might rip the oil pan or transmission out of your new car I sometimes need some motivation to keep me from having second thoughts. @@CosmoWeems I have been. I've been looking at a Little Guy teardrop.
I just found your channel today by randomly coming across this video. Saw your name was Cosmo and I had a ferret named Cosmo when I was in my 20s and he was a very good ferret, so I subscribed to your channel. Enjoyed this video and will go and watch more! Maybe older videos have answered this question, but do you ever get lonely without having a pet with you? I would have to bring my Saint Bernard but he would probably need his own trailer. Brewgan is a diva, but that isn’t why. It’s because I don’t think both of our wide asses could fit in one trailer. He says his ass isn’t big - it’s his fluffy tail that makes his butt look fat, but he’s just lying to himself.
Never met a more loyal friend than a dog. Angles on loan from heaven. I do love all dogs but cant bring myself to own another one. The loss is too much for me when they go. I fully expect all the dogs I have know to be at the gates of heaven to welcome me in! Thanks for viewing and subscribing =Cosmo the human! Ha ha ha
I have an idea for a video. Maybe you could do a comparison between the Vestibule and the Nucamp TAG or TAG XL. Maybe Miller Trailer near Perkasie, PA would be interested in participating. Keep up the good work:)

If you'd like, grate your garlic cloves on a microplane, and, you won't have to use your chef knife for that; makes it a LOT easier, IMO. Really enjoy your vids; am sub'd. Y'all Be Safe!
Thanks Rich. I use a mcroplane at home for fresh Garlic and Ginger. In the trailer everything has to be multipurpose (for me) and a knife is more versatile than the microplane I agree it would be a nice to have. Camping is one time I am unhurried and can devote extra time to cooking and I actually enjoy the zen of garlic cutting! =Cosmo Thank You for watching. Cosmo, my wife and I really enjoy your channel. Where in NJ are you and have you found any sites decent within an hour or two drive for weekend jaunts? We also like to avoid crowds

They should build an electric generator into the wheels of the trailer.
The trailer charges 3 ways, If you are on grid - plug it in. When driving connect it to the care and the Alternator charges it while driving. When stationary I use the clean renewable Solar.
