Me too. 2 years ago, we got in one for the first time and we were in love. I've been dreaming of one ever since. I had a 3 row model Y on order for me too...but I changed my mind when I saw how terrible it was to get into the 3rd row and it still felt like a model 3. Tiny. So, we've been patient and finally found a used model X that is like brand new. It's so beautiful and we should be bringing her home in 2 days. So, my tip to you, buy used. The guy I'm buying from bought it for $102k. And I'm buying it for a little over half.
Believe you already have it. You will get it. This is my 3rd dream car I’ve manifested.

Good video, I'm thinking of buying an X, we test drove one but it was a performance one. Sept. 2019 they offer "free charing" to the first buyer. So the one I have picked out is 94700, but I feel cheated driving a fast one and not the one I was buying. EV are the future, oil and gas is a thing of the past. It's that simple! On my deal it cost 20 GRAND more for the fast one. 20 Grand, I mean good grief, but I am told it's a bigger motors. A little HELP HERE!

25:00 The center bench gives the best cargo space which would give you either a 5 seat or a 7 Seat model.I would go for the 7-seat model.
Most 22kwh destination (and regular) chargers charge a 75D in less that 3 hours! The 90D is about 4 hours and the 100D is about 4 hours 30 minutes! Hope it helps!

An "ELECTRIC" review no doubt...so much to dislike and so much to like...on this Tesla X. You expressed and showed so clearly. Hoppefully on the X2 we will see a massive improvement on shortcomings..it is a 2012 design! Good point on how to place the sunvisor LOL ! Thanks

First of all, I want to congratulate Tesla for daring to build such a different vehicle.
The Model X is almost as efficient as the Model S and much more practical. The 7-seat option of the Model S is ridiculous, it would be interesting to know how long it will take before the two passengers of the third rank will get sick.
The two main problems of the Model X are: the price too high for a car with this manufacturing quality and the external dimensions which are not at all adapted to the European road networks. I can’t imagine this car manoeuvring in an underground car park or riding in a small country road without having cold sweats.
The use of this car is limited by its external dimensions which reserve it to the main roads, the major avenues and highways.
The Model Y will be more appropriate for European customers.

well it sucks for people who got the interior upgrade because now the black interior that used to cost 3,300 dollars is now free and the white and cream interior has been decreased in price by 2,000 dollars, and there is no more cloth seats and that boring headliner that came with the cloth seats
also i have a model x with cloth seats and im really sad about this because i like the alcantara headliner

I disagree about some pre-conclusions:
package is ok, you didnt show it but the cabin luggage fits in the frunk, and in the trunk you could have placed it in upright position (with the floor removed)
falcon wings, they were designed to allow limited space operation (not to be design magnet), but I find them overkill.
road noise, would need to be measured as it might be a misperception because there's no mecanical noise to act as noise masking.
windows/sunglasses, seems like you were driving in summer... I guess it'd be different in early/late hours of other seasons.
Do a review on the new s or x please, would love to know what you think of the new electronic suspention and how it compairs to others.

You keep forgetting to mention the lack of maintenance requirements, the over-the-updates (this is the ONLY car line where the car gets better as time goes on), of course, the fuel cost savings and the ever-expanding supercharger network (where are you going to supercharge your Q5 orMB EQ?
As always a fair and well balanced review. We are test driving a model S this week and expect it to be a very interesting experience. The issues with Tesla remind me of the 1950's and criticisms of the very innovative Citroen DS19.

Test drive went well apart from heavy rain throughout. Very impressive comfort, performance and connectivity. I made extensive use of the regeneration function which effectively made the foot brake pedal redundant. The rear facing camera is a really useful feature as it reduces blind spots to a minimum. The best car I have ever driven.
We bought a new Model X in Feb and it is an awesome daily drive. The EV drivetrain provides the most sublime driving experience and I love the light airy cabin with the panoramic windscreen. For us the final choice came down to this or the Volvo XC90 T8 for our new family hauler. After extended test drives in both the Tesla easily won us over. It's a lot more practical than you might imagine too and a great alternative to a more traditional SUV like the Volvo XC90, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 etc. Go for a test drive with an open mind (I honestly didn't think much of Tesla beforehand) and it's hard not to be impressed with the drive. Any reservations I had about the motorised doors have melted away after 5K miles and they are great when you have small kids to buckle in and out.

Mines being delivered in a few weeks and i got the long range one with 22" inch black alloys and 6 seats. I really hope the door handles aren't misaligned ive heard its like a 50 50 chance

elftax it’s not only the door handles. Plenty of things are misaligned. Until now I saw 0 Tesla’s with satisfying build quality.
You get that for free when you buy a Tesla. It still is made in the USA.
Tesla is planning a factory in Europe.
Until then, this brand is a no go for me.

Build quality....hmm all europeans and japanese brands develop specific models for over 30-40 years and fit and finish is ok at this level of experience. Tesla launched model S 6-7 years ago and model X is what 2 years old now. You have to give them a standing ovation for what they have acomplished in so short time line. Regarding consuption,i have calculated that if i own this car in my country the cost per 100 kW of recharging at home is slightly les then 2,5€ based on the curent pricing. That is excelent . Normal car lets say new golf with diesel engine needs at best conditions 20 liters for 400 km!!! Applause from me to Tesla. And as always top top review with real end user informatios. TY for really professional work. And at end ,to prevent possible negative comments , i know what i'm talking about because i was part of a team that worked at development and testing of first generation Volvo XC90. So...have a good day and keep doin what you doin. :))

BTW, the 100D is actually closer to 2.5 ton than the 2.3 ton you mentioned. The weight of the Model X (and Model S) varies dependant on battery pack size.

I once shortly sat in that middle row seat of th,e 6-seat X. I have crazy long legs, 99cm inseam, silly long femurs. I felt it was fine. But then, the driver's seat was set for a 173cm Asian dude from Norway :-)
You didn't mention anything about the sound system. What about the sound system??? Radio? Music playing options? Speakers? Music Videos?

The power train, the batteries and the high tech components are top notch. The dinosaur tech is not that good except the aerodynamics. I really adore Tesla but they don’t make cars that fit my lifestyle nor the price range. And congrats Thomas a very good review. As always.

I post on several other car forums, Carscoops, Car & Driver, Motor Trend, etc., and I always mention by name and link your YT reviews. I want more of my fellow Yanks to experience your very through reviews which is very unique in the auto world. I love the way Germans are very exacting!
Those Falcon wing doors and fantastic front/rear glass screen for the roof I think are very special and a main selling point of this vehicle.. but for that amount of money, build issues ( uneven surfaces and some not well thought out cabin features ) is not only annoying but unacceptable. Also Tesla really needs to hire a better interior designer, presentation of dash/cabin is honestly disappointing, it has a very generic/appliance-like atmosphere only saved by the large display screen.
Was thinking that Model X could also be a fine but expensive emergency vehicle ( 32:06 ) think they were eyeing the Model X at ( 35:06 ).

I live in an area where we get heavy winter rain , I don't know how long it takes for the gull wing doors to cycle but during a rain storm getting in and out real quick or you get an interior wash .
SOME REVIEWERS SAY IT KEEPS THE RAIN OUT WHILE PUTTING KIDS IN THE CHILD SEATS, LIKE AN UMBRELLA. NOTHING IS PERFECT.
Another good review, thank you. Your review of the Model S inspired me to test a Tesla and I eventually replaced my Mercedes with a Model S 100D (on 19" wheels). I've had over 30,000 defect free kilometres with the Model S and find it the most relaxing highway car, particularly when autopilot is used. I normally buy a new car every year or two but now it's hard to think of a better overall product than the Model S, but perhaps the Jaguar iPace might give it some competition.

Wondering - does having two axles regenerating actually produce more regen power? Two axles with the same braking power will to a certain point slow the car down twise as fast. So the time spent generating will practically be cut in half. Like - you still have the same amount of enertia to convert to electricty - just divided on two generators instead of one.
U can recuperate twice the amount, you could recuperate enough with one motor

About the environmental aspects, what I admire about Tesla is that they really went all the way without animal skin on the interior. On the X5, you can also get Sensatec leatherette gladly, not sure if you can also ask for a leatherette steering wheel, that is worth a shot for sure.
As for the drivetrain, the question at the moment is, what is really more environmentally friendly. I think it depends on the driving profile. If you do a lot of short trips inner city, EVs are clearly ahead. Plus if you re-charge with renewable energies. If you go a lot of long-haul trips, then EVs are not necessarily better yet as for this aspect.
Seems like they should really make the change the design of the 2 middle seats in the 6-seat configuration to fold flat. If they change the seats then you would get the best of both worlds. Seems like a pretty easy fix. Look at the Toyota Highlander 6 seat configuration for how easy it would be to do for Tesla.
Autogefuhl; was it more noise in model X then the others SUV`s in the sam clas? what SUV can you compare it to when it comes to comfort? and what would you go for between I-pace, Model x, e-tron and EQC? and why?

19:45 the cables are only not connected, normally you can choose witch cable you need and plug it in the USB socket and lead the cable to the Phone Dock. :)

At 19:44 you mention the optional charge point for iPhone. A neat but not very comfy solution. It’s almost impossible to have a look on your phone and put it back there while driving

i think making recharge networks operated 3rd persons (independent from car manufacturers) all across Europe is the right way, instead of restricted ones for brands and/or using different standards. what do you think?

Tesla is not made by a traditional car manufacturer and is more innovative with solutions that an old fashion carmaker never would come up with..
Love Tesla and what they are doing….. but some points:
1. There are no ‘innovations’ here - every technology already exists, simply Tesla are the fist to combine them in an automotive vehicle. That is not an innovation.
2. Old fashion car makers (just like Tesla and any company) are about making $$$. Never forget that. Old fashion car makers are releasing their new technologies yet as their major investments are in combustion engine technology. That is why you have VW group as example that realise FULL electric cars that are nice but STILL not as fast as their equivalent combustion engine range. They CAN make them fast, but then no one will want a slow golf GTI lol
French highways are limited to 130kph...(a tad over the 120 you mention at 40:00, and there's a few other european contries with the same upper limit)
That's why I love Tesla. They think something silly at a meeting and Musk probably says: Why Not? Great idea!

Very attractive vehicle! I wish I was in a position to own one right now. No competition in my opinion! I feel like Tesla should have a truck already. F150 number one selling vehicle for 30+years by a large margin. A Tesla truck could very well be the answer to any financial issues they have.
Hated the idea of autopilot.. until I actually tried it.

On your commentary about wheel size, for the 22" rims, did you try it on the sport model with Ludicrous mode ?

But for practicability, the base black fabric seats will perform better as u sweat less.
Caus for ventilated leatherette seats you will need the p100d :/

You mention bad finish but I thought I heard the same noise that I experienced from a trip I've also had with an X. Are these cars well screwed together and will they be ok in a few years? Is this of premium grade we often place expensive German and Swedish cars in?

Hi! Sorry - should of course have seen your entire 1 hour video. Done now and I totally agree with your summary. I live in Norway and electric cars are very important here. We have about 160000 registered electric cars here now, much because the authorities favor such cars with less or no fee. Every fourth sold car is now an electric car. Cars are allover expensive in Norway so it's important that the cars last for a while as well. Tesla is obviously an excited car, but should I buy an electric car I would have chosen something from BMW or maybe something from the coming Audi or Mercedes. If I can afford it then :-(
yeah really amazing how Norway is leading the market in this respect. Guess the suitable for you would be then one of the "normal" electric vehicles?
Hello Thomas. Thank you for that great review. I'm looking at the Tesla Model X 100D. I have my build from the Tesla website. I saw the Jaguar iPace and loved that too. If you I'm sure they're many considerations to look at when buying a EV, especially considering the price. My question is: If you had the money to spend without worrying, which EV would you buy? The Tesla Model X 100D, or the Jaguar iPace HSE EV400 (90 kWh)? Looking forward to your response, and why. If anyone else want to answer my question, Im open to your opinion as well. Thanks in advance.

Yes the Jaguar is 90kWh. Iirc, it's 84.1kWh usable.
It's in dealer showrooms in Norway, France and the UK right now, with UK test drives starting next month. I'm assuming they arrive at the same time in Germany. Perhaps talk to a local dealer ready for a video next month?
I have this exact car, and Tesla is lightyears away from other brands in everything, if you also look at the supercharger network alone the will make you see that there is no competition to Tesla.

They're other chargers as well like Charge Point, Sema, Blink Network and many others. Yes they don't have the speed as a supercharger, but they're chargers none the less. Oh and the range is better with the Tesla.
Well overall it depends on the market as well. In Germany, you can get the e-tron with fabric seating, in the USA as far as the configurator shows, not. If high range is not a main point and you can get the e-tron animal free in your market, I think I'd rather take the e-tron for its better driving. Needs proper charging solution for that though and cant make very long trips. If charging situation or longer trips are important, rather take the Tesla.
U know it's somehow strange, just by head/logic I d rather prefer the Audi, but I rather see my heart wanting the Tesla although I know it is the worse car in build quality.
Another important factor btw will be the new electric motor for the front axle in the Model X and S, which will boost range even further, making a big difference gap in range between the e-tron and the Tesla.
