- These are commercials from the late 1980's to the mid-1990's. 1990 is the year the two companies, Chuck E. Cheese's and Showbiz Pizza Place combined forces. In these commercials, you will find Chuck E. Cheese with the "Showbiz" name.

1985 was the first year both CEC and ShowBiz Pizza assumed the "Where a Kid Can Be a Kid" tagline, since that was when the merger of the two companies was initially completed. The two chains then came closer together in 1990 when, after Aaron Fechter (who ran Creative Engineering, Inc.) refused to sign over the rights to his Rock-afire Explosion band to ShowBiz Pizza Time, Inc., a new program called "Concept Unification" was undertaken to eliminate Fechter's characters from the ShowBiz Pizza locations. The name of the animatronics was changed to "Munch's Make-Believe Band," with new costumes to match. In 1992, the ShowBiz Pizza Place name was retired and all remaining such locations were rebranded as Chuck E. Cheese's.
wow, these commercials take me back to my wonderful early teen years! There are several other showbiz commercials I remember but I can't find them. One was kids talking about having to go to a grown up restaurant "and they make you eat stuff like Linguini....EEEWWWW!" Then came the "But at Showbiz Pizza you can act like a kid........" There was another one about a girl talking about having to to her chores and homework, and be nice......(look of distain). "even to my little brother!"
OMG I remember that one!!! Wow thanks for the awesome memory. You got it 😂😂
I actually realized that Freddy Fazbear's and ShowBiz Pizza have a lot in common for one thing they're both entertainment restaurants that opened in the 80s and they also specialized in pizza and entertainment by means of singing animatronic animals and they both have a big brown bear as their mascot the only difference is that one of them has a much darker history
@@haidynsworld3820 Because Scott Cawthon was inspired by Showbiz and Chuck-e-cheese.
Wow, Showbiz Pizza in the 90’s *interesting*
They meant the 80s
However I wish it was but Chuck E Cheese bought Showbiz in the 90s
@@eugenemckinney8736 technically its Showbiz buying Chuck E Cheese
@@DHAdArchivez Thanks for correcting me on that, and many times my parents took me to that place, I'm getting old lol
I appreciate that
Yes ShowBiz Pizza was a pretty weird place but this was back before concept unification came and turn it into the Chuck E cheese we know today
Fun facts:
The last original ShowBiz Pizza Place unit opened in Richmond, VA (at 10430 Midlothian Turnpike) on May 1, 1990.
The last ShowBiz Pizza Place unit to both undergo Concept Unification and then close down was in Pasadena, CA (at 3765 East Foothill Blvd.); this unit closed in October 1993, as a new Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza unit (at 3737 East Foothills Blvd.) was built nearby.
0:55 -- originally opened April 21, 1983, and still exists today as a Chuck E. Cheese 2.0 (following a 2022 rebuild after initially closing down in 2020).
I went to the location in the first commercial! Of course it was a Chuck E. Cheese’s when I went, but it’s still cool to say I was there before it closed!!! 🤩
Great video! Brings me back!! Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
I never grew up with Showbiz, because I was born in 2001. So I never got the chance to go. But I did go to Chuck E Cheese as a kid, which is nice. I also went to a place called Club Kids in my childhood, which was also a fun place to go to. There's also Xbos I went there too. It was fun. So in my childhood, I went to Chuck E Cheese, Club Kids, Xbos, McDonald's, Burger King, anywhere with a playhouse really.
Some of these commercials featured the great Chuck E. Cheese.
Umm this commercials from 80's -_-
Edit: only 35% is from early 90's
Thank you for the good content
Love the vids
I like how chuck is in some of these because the companies colliding
That was wonderful 👍🥰❤💖
Wow, Looks like the Chuck E Cheese character was carried over to Showbiz Pizza before they were rebranded entirely and I never knew that Showbiz Pizza used the “Where A Kid Can Be A Kid” slogan!
I've noticed that too
Prior to 1986, both chains were still using their previous slogans ("Share the Fun" for ShowBiz Pizza, and "Smile America!" for Chuck E. Cheese's) and even crossed over to one another on some occasions, and rarer still, even overlapped with the "Where a Kid Can Be a Kid" slogan during the first year or two of its usage.
In the 1990 Showbiz commercial, Chuck E. Cheese and Billy Bob Brockali appeared.
Love it
I didn't even exist when this rage released
people in my generation were missing out
Wow. Dragon's lair sounds like a worthy opponent for pong.
I did not know amazing
Show biz until I watched u
Chuck E. Cheese was friends with Billy Bob Brockali.
U know when I see people clothes now and then I just cry people then were with their family but now
5:06 haha monke
Mid 1990s? I thought by 1992, all of concept unification took full effect.
actually it was early 1993
It is weird that Chuck E Cheese shows up in some of the commercials
I thought so too. Those seem to have come out in the midst of Concept Unification.
Do a video about the concept unification prototype, literally nobody has talked about it
I think these commercials were from the 80s, when Dragon’s Lair came out
Yes, 1983 for the one with Dragon's Lair... by the time of the merger, all of the pre-merger ShowBiz Pizza locations in the Seattle area closed their doors except for Lynnwood, which moved over to a newer location in 1986, and was thus the only ShowBiz location in the Seattle area to get the "Concept Unification" makeover.
0:29 So I just figured out the history of this place, so basically around this time in the 90s it was a showbiz pizza place then when showbiz pizza went out of business in 1993. It turned into a Chuck E. Cheese then sometime during Covid. It went out of business completely and was abandoned and by 2023. All that remains is the Reminence of what used to be the writing of Chuck E. Cheese.
Johnny!!!

Thanks for watching everyone! What would you like my next video to be on? Let me know! And as always, stay safe!

I think this is what Freddy Fazbear's Pizza would have been like if it existed in the 80s
I definitely remember the tagline Share the fun come on and share the fun at Showbiz Pizza Place, and then Where a kid can be a kid.
I remember the Showbiz Pizza Place with the blinking lights around the logo and the other logo SHOWBIZ
PIZZA
PLACE which could be seen outside as pole signs
So in 1983, the first one I went to was the one in Midfield AL which is now Family Dollar before that it was Good Year Tires then when that closed down I started going to the one in Roebuck AL then it became Chuck E Cheese now it's a Walgreens
I really wish I took some pictures damn lol.
It was the place where any kid be any kid.
Wait I thought show biz stopped there business in 1986
3:47 Showbiz pizza fiesta.
That name was only for the franchise on México which had a bunch of bootleg stuff.
Is that Johnny Lawrence I see there??? He abandoned Golf N' Stuff for this??? SAY IT ISN'T SO JOHNNY!!! lol.
I think I should sub to this channel so I will
i love the chimpanzee commercial 😂
1:35 MMMMMmMMmMMMMHHHHhhhhHhhH
I hate when people think Chuck E. Cheese didn’t like showbiz that had the CEC characters at show biz hard Chuck E. Cheese in some adds and they had permission to reuse the CEC adds

@@trevortuominen8233 I-....yeah, but they’re not as relevant as they were/could’ve been
I think it's 1980 when SPP (Showbiz Pizza Place) started the Rock afire Explosion
