Tips for taming the basilisk:
1. It doesn't need to be Agro'd to eat the egg. If it has a foundation underneath it, it can't bury, and it'll start to auto agro when it's hungry enough to eat again and will start moving around on its own, then it'll find the egg.
2. You can use eggs from Magmasaurs that are tame and bred. Their eggs work just as good.
3. It won't eat anything if it's health has damage. If it's even slightly hurt, you'll need to wait until it's fully healed to get it to eat it's first egg. You can check it's health if it's not eating and see if it's damaged. Once fully restored, it'll eat.
4. It won't always eat if there are two eggs out at once. If that happens, Sometimes it glitches and needs the egg to be picked up then dropped again to eat normally.
5. If you leave render distance, there is a chance the trap will despawn and the trapped creature can escape. To stop this from happening, have some tamed creature stand somewhere in render and it'll keep the trap from releasing the creature when your character leaves render.

Aberation was released December 12th, 2017. - so yeah delivering 4 ½ years to late.
- The idea is to lure it into a cornor and trap it with a gate, it's 1000 times easier and less ressource consuming.

Toss down a light pet, put on passive. Place a single metal foundation over the light pet. Drop all your eggs on top of the foundation. Kite the basilisk over to the eggs. It will stay aggro on the pet and won't bury itself. It will eat the eggs when it's ready.
Why do you need a light pet, any pet or Dino that fits under the foundation should work

Can confirm that the trap works inversely as well. Placed mine too close to the basilisk so it aggroed while I was inside before I placed the ramps and I could feed it from inside like a shark cage. Kind of scary though.

Easy tame
Step 1 Place a shoulder pet
Step 2 Place a metal foundation on top
Step 3 Place eggs
Step 4 Get basilisk to aggro the shoulder pet
It will keep the basilisk around the eggs and it will tame up fast and easy. And your shoulder pet will be fine.

Love your vids Steve. Started playing a year ago and your my go to for info about ark. My way of taming Basilisks, one metal foundation a shoulder pet and your eggs. Throw the pet on the ground ( ensure it’s on passive) place metal foundation over it and eggs all around the foundation. Turn the foundation to block. Argo basilisk and run past your foundation and mount a fast Dino and watch the show from a safe location. It will attack the pet and not be able to get to it, eat your eggs and it’s yours with out any risk after you get past the foundation that is….lol. Clear the area first.

After trying the method alot of people were raving about (one foundation and shoulder pet). I couldnt get it to work, not only did my shinehorn that i just tamed die, rip. But after it killed it the basilisk stayed above ground and wouldnt eat the egg.
So instead i tried your method and built this trap and it worked like a charm! So thank you:)

What me and friends do is tame a light pet and place a foundation over it, then put all your eggs on the foundation and lead a bassy over to it. The bassy will stay aggroed on the foundation because of the light pet and continue eating til it’s tamed :)

Pro tip now you can pick up basilisk and feed him with eggs (you can use rhynio to pick him up and stay in air)
It's even easier if you put a lystro covered with a single foundation in front of it, you won't need any other structures. Just sit on something that won't aggro it and dismount occasionally so it'll aggro on you and eat the egg.

Another way more eassier and cheaper way is to put a really small shoulder pet in a foundation on the ground. Then get the basilisk bring it over to the foundation. Let it agro the foundation with the shoulder pet in that foundation. Make sure u place down all the eggs you need. Easy tame 🙏🏻

I think what you should do is you should make a contest where people try to make a trap better than you within a set time, kind of like the rock golem video. This would also help with haters saying they could make a better trap

Cant u just use one stone foundation and a shoulder pet and throw the pet down and place a foundation on top then throw down eggs?

you can also use just a shoulder pet (on passive) under a metal foundation (blocked), kite to foundation till snake agro to shoulder pet. throw eggs on ground (out of your inventory) next to snake and wait
I've only tried this with the s+ mod but one can also try putting a single metal foundation on top of a shoulder pet so the snake will aggro on it but not kill it.
I do remember the first snake and mouse taming game... not very efficient albeit fun. This one is worthy of the Noobletsopedia under the chapter of legendary traps.
I always wanted to try to tame this mighty snake ( it was a pain in the butt though). Thank you I will try trap out definitely.

All you need to tame a basilisk is a bloodstalker and a couple magmasaur eggs. Easy af. Used to live in volcano on gen 1. Would tame these guys all day
Get a single metal foundation. Put eggs on it. Lead basi to the eggs. Derender and wait till it’s tamed in tribe log

if you have low level wyvern egg, it will be more effective than magmasaur egg. also desmodus elixir help a lot

as far as i know, you don't need trap to tame basilisk, just place foundation over your shoulder pet and then drop the egg around, kite the basi over foundation
My method was running around a large rock dropping eggs as needed. I prefer this trap over that, I didn't even die once.
Just throw out carbo, put the eggs beneath, pull aggro and take a seat on the toilett. When youre ready the basilisk is tamed

I always go to Crystal isles, hover over them with a griffin or tape, even a pt and drop the eggs from the air, they eat them on their own lol

I love using Basilisks, but their Achilles heel is their horrific turning radius. They are like a land-mosa as far as turning radius goes....
Another easy way is to make it agh to, get at least 1 egg feed it it, let it starve, then lure it to a foundation with a shoulder pet on it. Drop all the eggs and then watch it eat them as it try’s to attack the shoulder pet (or any small dino)
It always spooks me when they are not completely in the trap with like the tail or head outside of it. I get jumpy. xD

P.S. I would recommend using Awesome spyglass, it's faster, better UI and doesn't have to be in your hand to work, aswell as it has advanced functions that can be shown or hiden within the UI that can be simply accessed

To everyone saying it won't bury with foundation underneath that is incorrect, I made the trap just like the video and he buried almost instantly, now I can't get him to unbury and he won't aggro to me or anything and I can't damage or move the stone foundation.

Can you pls try too tame a phoenix using:A phoenix,Ember wyvern,flamethrower or the Magmasaur those would be awesome too see if it works and considering the high damage output of the magmasaur and the damage increasing effect on the ember wyvern this could be amazingly fast the phoenix and flamethrower one are kinda irrelevant but i was curious XD

I’ve always just but a light pet on the floor. put it on passive and put a fountain over it basalisk agros on it but can’t kill it. Drop eggs next to it. And there u have it lol
