This seems to take place after the Dark Signers
Maybe this duel was done because the last champion duel was sort of interrupted by the crimson dragon so while Yusei won that one, nobody saw it

@@mattstonge7112 might be in the middle of helping with the bridge connecting Satellite and Neo Domino, looking for place and ending up in that clockwork place where team 5Ds spend their time during the next season, or idk maybe Neo Domino is slowly but not entirely letting Satellite people to come in just yet as they’d need to find a new head of sector security first with Lester getting the position sometime later

Actually it's kind of a parallel universe. It's a world that shows us "what happened if the crimson dragon didn't interfere".
Stardust and Red Demon are battling a lot in this duel but neither the Crimson Dragon or their Signer Mark's make an appearance. Of course another difference is Aki already joined Team 5D's and is friends with everyone. Then I searched for this duel I read about this whole different universe thing but that's just a theory nothing of this is confirmed by the creator.
That also means this duel doesn't happen in the Canon timeline of the anime after the Dark Signer arc. More like parallel to the Jack vs Yusei duel in season 1

So is this post the Dark-Signers arc? It feels like it. Also its a shame they never used Buster Mode/Assault Mode in the regular anime. It was a cool concept not to mention they made CGI models for them and everything just for a promotion.

I wish Assault Mode came into play in the second act of the show, where they could have been used to dodge the Meklords' targeting and summon a main deck monster that can't be absorbed. It's a real shame that such a viable counter to the Meklords was right under the writers' noses and they never noticed it.
