  • The annual Talking Textiles Conference is an inspiring and educational 1-day webinar to talk about textiles for fashion and interiors - exploring the important trends, fabrics, yarns and techniques for the seasons to come.
Now in its 5th year, the September 30th conference theme is The Archaeology of Textiles, analyzing ancient resources and how the can impact contemporary textiles too.
Abeer Seikaly is a Jordanian thinker and maker. Traversing architecture, design, and cultural production, she sees her interdisciplinary practice as a social technology with the power to redefine how we engage with- and within- space. With a tactile sensitivity to the consciousness within the objects and spaces she crafts, her work strives to be in constant dialogue with the processes of memory and materiality, and the role that women play in the shadow of patriarchal structures. In 2013 she won the international Lexus Design Award and in 2015 founded and co-directed Amman Design Week, an initiative which fosters a culture of design collaboration in Jordan. Her work has been featured internationally including at MoMA, the MAK in Vienna, and the Stedelijk Museum. In 2018, she established ālmamar, a cultural experience and residency program based in Amman, and continues to be a frequent speaker, panelist, and visiting lecturer around the world.
