I have a Rachel Welch provocateur and was thinking of cutting the excess length of the nape to fix the problem I am experiencing. Any advice on cutting silicone napes? Is it a bad idea? Can you review the human hair provocateur?
Thanks, I'm so glad to hear that you found my video helpful!☺ I have trimmed extended napes on my wigs before. However, since this is an expensive human hair wig, I recommend you contact your retailer to ask them for their recommendations. @@micheleswigreviews were they silicone napes? Do you think there are any risks one may encounter? I did ask the retailer, but they do no recommend it, but I feel I do not have any other option as it is the cap design I am most comfortable with, and there are very few alternatives 😔
@@MsLeafs13 I have trimmed extended napes on Jon Renau's Lite Collection pieces that have silicone covered extended napes. I just got my first synthetic wig today and I feel like such a newbie trying to figure things out. I need to cut the length and thin it out a bit. It's a beautiful color though.
Hi Michelle, congrats on getting your first synthetic wig!🥳 I remember being where you are now. There is a learning curve when it comes to wearing synthetic wigs, but I'm sure you will figure it all out quickly. When you are new to wearing wigs, they can feel like a lot of hair/fiber, especially if you are used to fine and thin bio hair. I recommend giving it a bit of time and wearing your wig at home until you feel more comfortable. Then, if you are sure that you want to thin your wig, here's a link to my video showing how I like to do that - ua-cam.com/video/l-GjnVy4Qds/v-deo.html. Good luck!💖

You are very welcome, I'm glad you found my video helpful!😀Cameron Lite is comfortable on my 22" circumference head but I did loosen the adjusters all the way. For a 23" circumference, I would recommend getting Cameron Large, instead of Cameron Lite, by Jon Renau. Cameron comes in a large cap.👍💖

I'm very very late in commenting, Michele, apologies. I was thinking of trimming my older wig to get the one inch frizzies off, may I ask if you have dampened these wigs water before youve cut them? They all looks so sleek. Edit: Oh, I just heard you say that you don't dampen them, my bad. They still look very sleek.
Hi Julie! I personally have not worn toppers for some time and don’t have much experience trimming them. Here’s a video I like for how to trim a topper - ua-cam.com/video/ArY15KGepw8/v-deo.html. I agree with Jill Lynn that the clip is a good place to insert the pin to secure the topper to the block head. Hope this helps!💖
@@micheleswigreviews Thank You for sending me info I’m 62 my first topper looks like so much hair on my head because i have always had thin fragile hair never knew my head could have 130 so I’m also bought thinning shears to get the bulk of it from under. @@JuliesMakeupadvice60 You're very welcome, Julie!😊 Good luck, I hope you love the results! Also, since you are new to toppers, I wanted to give you my usual topper advice. To avoid/minimize possible hair loss due to traction from topper clips, I always like to recommend: 1. wearing the correct base size, 2. limiting tight hairdos like ponytails or anything that causes pulling on your biological hair, 3. using either Walker lace front wig tape (blue) on the lace front (keep it away from any bio hair and remove with JR's Lace Let Go) or wearing a topper grip for additional security, and 4. moving the clips so that they are not always clipping into the same hair.💖
@@micheleswigreviews i have bought Velcro grips which seem to be much better for me… are the Velcro grips going to ruin bio hair just need your opinion please. Thanks
I think the Velcro topper grips are much better for your hair than topper clips. I personally don’t normally wear topper or wig grips but I know that many wig wearers wear these grips regularly. It’s my understanding that they are safe for bio hair.👍🏻

@@micheleswigreviews these were both so helpful!! I loved how you straightened those ends on Cameron! Which method, air brush or streamer, would be the least harmful to the hair do you think? Your videos are so thoughtful
@@ginawhite3399 Both methods are safe for synthetic fibers as long as you follow the tips I mentioned. I find that the plastic hot air brush works well for relaxing the flips or waves a bit. The steamer is better if you want to completely straighten the fibers. If you are concerned about damaging the fibers, I would suggest testing some fibers on the underside of your wig first. @@micheleswigreviews hi I was cutting my wig to a short hairstyle, but in the back close to the nape, I can see some mesh from my wig…my question is , how can I fix that?

Just came here to help and give some advice. You should never cut above your fingers when cutting. You always cut below your fingers and you should section off the nape area and start the very bottom and that would be your guide. Then you work your way up and all the way around in 1 inch sections and you have to make sure that the head is tilted down when you’re cutting underneath. From a licensed hair stylist. 🤷🏼♀️
If you are not comfortable trimming your own wigs, I would suggest calling local salons to find a hair stylist who will cut them. First, you could search on Yelp or Google for “best wig stylist near me” and then call them and ask for a stylist who has experience with wigs (tell them whether it’s synthetic or human hair). Some will only cut it if you buy your wig from them. Hope this helps!💖
After cutting my first wig I am rewatching & learning HOW TO DO more styles! 💞🔆💞

Hi Michele! Could you tell me which wig u are wearing in this video? Thanks!
Sure... in the beginning I'm wearing Miranda Lite by Jon Renau in Shaded Peach. After that, I'm trimming and wearing Zara Lite, Cameron, and Julianne Lite, all by Jon Renau.💖
Hi, no worries - it's so good to hear from you!😊 Thanks for watching. I hope you love the results of your trimming!💖
@@micheleswigreviews I sure wasn't as good as you were, Michele, but I tried my best. x
Where would you place a topper with pins… Thank You
I love watching and you gave so many great ideas and tips. Appreciate that. Again thank you
Julie
Good job. I wish u had cut the sides and back of the wavy wig. I would liked to have seen that.
Thanks!😊 Maybe in a future video!👍💖
Great tips. Thanks!
You're very welcome!😊💖
Thank you. You are a brave woman ❤
You are very welcome.😊 Thanks for watching!💖
Thank you! Question on last wig. Like mine, it is parted on one side. The other side is a little too full (it is smooth not wavy, looks a little "fake" just in that area); where do i start to undercut with the trimming shears? Much thanks for any help. Hi from Canada!
You are very welcome!😊 If I'm understanding correctly, you are interested in thinning the other side? I recommend using thinning shears. I have a video where I show how I like to thin a wig. I will link it here - ua-cam.com/video/l-GjnVy4Qds/v-deo.html Hope this helps!💖
@@micheleswigreviews Love it, thank you!

You did a great job
Thanks so much!😊💖
can you also help with cutting bangs into a wig?? I am loving learning how to create a wig to look more natural....but I need bangs
Here's a link to a video where I show how I like to trim bangs (I have not filmed cutting bangs into a style that has no bangs) - ua-cam.com/video/LC-2jJ-OXYc/v-deo.html. Hope this helps!💖
I put a silicone wig grip on my wig head and that secures the wig without pins.
Great idea, thanks for sharing!👍😀💖
Great info!!! Thank you!
You're very welcome! I'm so glad to hear that you found my video helpful!😊💖
How do you cut the bob style with gradual longer angled sides?
Hi! Unfortunately, I'm not a hair stylist and have not trimmed a bob style with extreme gradual longer angled sides. I recommend you ask someone who is a qualified hair stylist.💖
No hay que tener miedo a coger la tijera, te quedaron genial
Thanks so much!😊🙏💖
The wig you have on, if you wanted to straighten those ends and it was synthetic, how would you do it? I appreciated this video so much!!
Hi Gina, I'm so glad to hear that you found my video helpful!😊If I wanted to straighten the ends on Miranda Lite by Jon Renau, I would use either a plastic hot air brush or a steamer. Here is a link to a video showing how I like to relax flipped ends with steam - ua-cam.com/video/jcDltchkQtU/v-deo.html. Here is a link to a video showing how I like to relax them with a plastic hot air brush - ua-cam.com/video/oOsczIUvfPU/v-deo.html. Hope this helps!💖
Good luck!💖
@@micheleswigreviews thank you! I am definitely one of your subscribers now ☺

Mine was a Bob style and went too close to the mesh on the back. Can my natural hair blend in well.
Hi Marge, I apologize - I don't understand. Are you asking a question or sharing a story about what happened when you were trimming your bob wig?💖
@@micheleswigreviews hi I was cutting my wig to a short hairstyle, but in the back close to the nape, I can see some mesh from my wig…my question is , how can I fix that?
@@margegiberson1485 Oh, I understand now. I'm not sure what you can do to fix that. I suppose you could try adding extensions to your wig to cover the mesh? Good luck!🤗
I had the same experience as you with the first topic
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! That was definitely not a happy moment for me but I did learn something!👍💖
Me, too
Can you send me the link to your video of how to cut flips on the sides on your wig?
Hi Judy, here's a link to a video where I trim a flip at timestamp 6:23 - ua-cam.com/video/-noABApJwjc/v-deo.html. Hope this helps!💖
@micheleswigreviews thank you. That's pretty much like the wig that I need to relax side flips on. Thank you

Bangs are my issue, made the mistake of buying one that was way to long and cant pin up.
Hi Rose, I have a few videos where I show how I like to trim the bangs. Here's a link to one - ua-cam.com/video/FosaHqQkOxU/v-deo.html. Hope this helps!💖
Which wig tripod are you using?
I'm using the HYOUJIN Wig Head Stand Tripod from Amazon.💖
Just came here to help and give some advice. You should never cut above your fingers when cutting. You always cut below your fingers and you should section off the nape area and start the very bottom and that would be your guide. Then you work your way up and all the way around in 1 inch sections and you have to make sure that the head is tilted down when you’re cutting underneath. From a licensed hair stylist. 🤷🏼♀️
Sounds good, thanks Chrissy!👍
I have 3 Camerons & and for me, they're too long. Im afraid to cut the length on them:-(
If you are not comfortable trimming your own wigs, I would suggest calling local salons to find a hair stylist who will cut them. First, you could search on Yelp or Google for “best wig stylist near me” and then call them and ask for a stylist who has experience with wigs (tell them whether it’s synthetic or human hair). Some will only cut it if you buy your wig from them. Hope this helps!💖
@micheleswigreviews I've checked several salons, none of them will cut wigs. They said cutting wigs is different than cutting hair
@@judycrisenbery2982 I'm sorry to hear that!
I ended up getting a block head in my head size. Game changer......
