    I went out and specifically got the 2015 trd pro because in my opinion, it’s the best Tacoma yet. I prefer the body style and it’s the last year of gen 2. Only an opinion, but I give it 5 stars. Love my truck.

      Agree test drove Gen III Pro laughed Gen II Pro blew it out of water. That 3.5 has zero torque low end good luck really offroading plus I wanted a proven reliable drivetrain. Money wasn't issue I even looked at Raptors and only Gen II Raptor felt better but engine issues which kept me away. I don't think there is a better truck out there and it was only built one year in such low production.

      My exact thoughts! That's why I bought mine used a month ago and still cost me 30k from a private seller. At the dealership, theyre still around 35k without taxes. Cost just as much as the newer model. These model will be collectable in the future.

    Sense of value a 3 out of 5??? The 4x4 Tacomas have the highest resale value of any production vehicle in the history of the world with customer confidence at 95%. You will probably never again see that in any vehicle, aside from maybe a Bugatti or a one off Ferrari, found in a barn 50 years from now with 200 miles on it. This is 2016 and I saw an 07 with 80K miles on it sell from a new car dealer lot for 21K. And the bank financed it with no down payment. I tried to buy it by putting money down and expecting them to come off the price. The dude looked at me and said he wasn't coming off a penny because he knew he could sell it for that. It sold the next day and I just went and bought a new one.

    Dude.........seriously? I've owned two of these trucks, the current one is a 2012 TRD Baja (same exact drive train). I get WAY better than 15AMPG ..... in the dead of winter in Western NY state....letting it idle in the driveway to warm up!!! Summer months I average 23MPG no problem. And ride rough??? What do you want a FULL FRAMED TRUCK to ride like??? If you want a cushy ride, buy a car No hating man, just saying.......G

    It's weird cause he dresses and looks like a normal guy but he talks like a TV reporter on the scene of a tragic event.
    Cool truck.

      DreadlockDrummer how relaible is it with that much HP? I k ow magnuson superchargers were the ones making the TRD SC kits back then so maybe they should have the best knowledge and kit for it? I know a similar, brembo-competent, brand that makes disc brakes for this taco. Think it's called woodland or woodwill something like that, there is one near me 30 min away. Let me know because i want to buy one and put a blower on it

      Still, even with 236hp it's still one of the quicker small trucks out there and will run alongside the new 300hp V6 trucks... and is still faster than the new 3rd gen.

    • @ericinfante624
      @ericinfante624 6 років тому

      @@scottvaj4434 you know im glad you said that because for some weird ass reason a lot of people buying these 3rd gens dont even know the specs of the truck and just simply tell me it has more hp so it's faster lol. I deliver pizzas and meet smart people and dumb people, and also uninformed people. I really think the design should have been kept from the 2nd gen.... Added some crisp lines and sharper facia, improve on the 4.0 liter engine (just like ford is doing with their mustangs) and offer better off road suspension or off road goodies along with revised interior. It didnt really need a new smaller engine, redesign (looks great but also too cheap in some parts especially the front, there's a big gap inbetween the filter and the actual bumper looks cheap to me

    Those shocks are pretty decent. Maybe the tire pressure was wrong? It's supposed to be 30 but people sometimes go closer to 40 for gas mileage.

      Gearing matters. better specs on paper doesn’t already translate to better performance when the rubber meets the road

  • @scottvaj4434
    @scottvaj4434 6 років тому

    How do these reviewers keep getting the feeling that this truck struggles to accelerate when it delivers most of it's power low end and does 0-60 in under 7 seconds? That's faster than the new, more powerful 3rd gen and right on par with the 306hp Colorado.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  6 років тому

      It may perform when prodded hard and loud (driven the shit out of) , but in every day driving it struggles to move the heavy truck. When reviewers say it struggles to accelerate, that is what they mean.

    They are crazy to charge 39,579 for this truck. A full size Tundra TRD PRO is only 7K more.

    Fuel economy same as Gen III. 2016 and up are crap. Worst review ever this truck litterally best truck hands down built. Ever other truck nowadays have so many issues that live in service lanes compared to this proven gem.

    Haha as always typical BMW poser. Great review Sam. I agree the Tacoma is long overdue for a refresh and oh yea rear drum brakes in 2015????

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  8 років тому +1

      +johng813 Drum brakes can accumulate sand and dirt inside them and retain it until you manually clean them. Disc brakes are self cleaning. If drum brakes were superior, we would see them on the Toyota Tundra, the Jeep Wrangler and all the other off-road vehicles on the market which use disc brakes. Bottom line, Toyota uses drum brakes because they are cheaper. Period. They can get away with this because they are still the number one selling truck and they don't really have to lift a finger much to improve them.

      surprise! the 2016 tacoma got rear drums too! lmao
