Different part numbers is for purchasing and tooling. One analog stick is a sub-assembly to the controller telling the scanner to place them into the assembly plant. The stand alone analog stick is scanned into finish product to be placed in the boxes. This way they control how many were made (like 10,000 controllers and 8,000 replaceables)

I have this controller. Good pad. Shame no one mentions the nuances of this controller. Some things you may be interested in.
-firmware update required out of the box (via pc/Windows)
- is larger than the xbox controller.
- the sticks are slightly taller then xbox controller.
- the head of the stick is slightly larger in diameter (KontrolFreek difficult to get on straight, my rigtt stick freek are in the dome topper because it fits easier)
- the lower rear buttons are in a nice position fit middle finger.
- the upper rear buttons not as natural to press (I only use two of the four so doesn't bother me)
- the dpad is slightly larger than xbox controller
- the long stroke of the triggers is shorter that the xbox elite 2.
- the triggers have a very hard bump stop, even without hair trigger on
Why do these reviews never show the app for configuring the controller?
- app can remap, adjust rumble, stick sensitivity curve and inner/outer deadzone.
Pro: good for larger hands
Con: not as good for small hands
Pro: the headphone volume output goes crazy loud compared to xbox controller.
Con: no chat/game mix button on controller so this audio setting must be done in xbox guide menu.
**CON: the mic signal is running just as hot, it's got a crazy amount of gain on it. So your mic will be twice a sensitive than with regular controller. It will pick up everything in your room and the party chat channel almost constantly be broadcasting. Even when your silent. * this led me to buy a wirless headset (I know but this pad is wired right? Well I don't mind because I sit close and wirless head set has multiple uses) but seriously the controller audio has too much gain..... Maybe firmware future fix?
Pro: you can custom stick input sensitivity. Via the app each stick has 3 levels you can change my percentage. Small movements (inner zone) medium movements (middle zone) large movements (outer zone)
By default they are splat 33%/34%/33%
-if you want it less twitchy when trying to do subtle movements - then eg. Set Small 50% Med 25% Large%25.
Now 50% of the sticks motion in one direction will be considered 'small movement input' giving you more play/input for small movements.
*I use 50/25/25
Pro: input response is awesome
Pro: buttons are very tactile/clicky
Pro: bumpers are aeesome
Con: bumpers are loud *click
Con: the share and guide buttons are opposite locations compared to xbox controller = lots of accidental share presses.
Con: start/menu buttons are up really high in face of controller.
Con: 2 custom button map presets compared to 3 on Elite2
*app can save multiple.
OVERALL I really like this controller. I love the buttons, the bumpers feel and sound like they'd last a lifetime. Custom stick sensitivity is sweet. I like the rear button placement as I only use two of them. If you want your headphones to go louder, jesus this pad will do it.. But the crazy mic send means you'll be that annoying person with loud noisy mic everyone mutes. (don't be that person)
Theres some more info than just what's in the box. Hope this helps you with this expensive decision. I love mine now I'm used to it. Audio/mic was the most disappointing thing. Led me to another purchase (wireless headset)

Hello. Warrenty expert for telco and repairs. I get this is pretty late, but I'm sure everyone here will benefit from this little nugget of edumacation.
OEM parts and parts that ship with the devices have different part numbers so we can tell what phones or devices have had repairs done on them befor and for what reason. If a device has come in for repair once before and had a particular fault occur and a module swapped out and the same fault occurs, a repeat repair gives manufacturers trackable data for parts that could have a particular design flaw or don't have a good enough QA standard. This data is used for better design or different microcomponent production contracting so later production runs of particular SKU's and other products don't suffer the same errors or faults.
In the case of a modular piece of equipment like this, your add on parts would have a different limited warrenty structure, or it's just there so Thrustmaster can track what claims are going to what products across the board for analytics purposes.
I hope you've learned something today. If you did, stick an upvote on this so even the king of tech tips can learn something. I'm sure he'd find it valuable too.

There's been some testing done on these analog sticks, well actually the NXG S2's (the new sticks you can use in the Playstation version of this pad - they're equal to these Xbox ones in terms of spec) and apparently they're basically the best and most accurate sticks in any controller ever. Out of all pads tested they were the only ones that could actually work with a 0.01 deadzone in Rocket league without issues, they didn't have much snapback and in contrast to both Xbox and XBox Elite controllers (PS4/Ps5 seemed to not have this issues) they could register fast full rotations without skipping steps. They also were among the lowest latency available. Plus if you've got bigger hands (and don't mind the cable) if you ever get stick drift you could just replace a module.
It seems these modules, and especially the NXG ones, undergo a lot more testing and quality checks before leaving for the stores than those found in regular controllers (this includes those found in the Elite series of Xbox controllers).

Thrustmaster's designs always seemed... Not in line with their price point to me. Doesn't say a bit about quality though. Great experiences so far!
They need to ditch the glossy center portion and the silver "accents" and it will look much better. It is just too loud on the front.

@@Silvyya My xbox controller had micro usb on it. Ended up breaking that port and i couldn't fix it but I'm a cheap ass so I soldered a cut up usb cable to the test points on the pcb.
tldr: micro usb is terrible and shouldn't be on such an expensive device
I really like the wire. I hate needing to stop for battery charging and bluetooth or wireless always has some little hangups. But just pluggin in a USB device always seems simple.
I've been saying there needs to be modularity on controllers for years. Glad to see it becoming an option

MadCatz did the modularity thing with their MLG controllers on the PS3 and 360, it was a great feature, and pretty much the only controller I could play PS3 games on, as I really don't like the PS controllers.
Why seems like the biggest gimmick
My Astro c40 is a modular controller, however, I cannot in good faith recommend it after a year of use.
I just bought one for my PC. It's great. The X-BOX button in the middle opens STEAM by default...neat.
I think you can justify the price if it was wireless.
But for a wired controller it is a bit expensive, even with the great build quality and the hot-swappable nature of some of the components.
I know I couldn't justify the price even if it was wireless.
I get there are people that would love this, but I think it's a fairly niche product. Even if the setup on my controller of choice isn't perfect for my taste, it's always a learning experience.
I would also never play a shooter with a controller.

i absolutely love my Series 1 Elite. that thing is sick. i took off the lower paddles in the back and i use the higher ones as paddle shifters for racing games. it's fantastic. i do have the wireless dongle for it also though to use with my pc. it works with the Series X with no problem as well so far.
full disclaimer: i work in the video game industry and got my Series 1 Elite at no cost. i do use it every day however and have a hard time playing racing games these days without the paddles.
I feel, I play Rocket League a lot. Use the lower right paddle for boost.
@@NotMeta1738 rocket league i dont use my paddles for shooters however there such a necessity to jump slide while using the stick and also it allows for bunny hopping (if you dont know what that is type that in youtube because it would take forever to explain)

2 or 3 or 4 analog sticks mapped to different input commands could literally allow people with physical disabilities to game.

Different part numbers for replacement of same part might be for manufacturer to see what parts are being replaced more... that way they can look into why and diagnose issues for the next batch of parts.
Honestly, the fact that it isnt wireless is actually making me want this controller more. I really do prefer wired accessories, mostly because this would be used on a PC for me.
im the exact opposite. even sitting at my pc the last thing i wanna deal with is more wires and more crap to plug in. Definitely a deal breaker for me with no wireless.
Diff part number for same module allows them to track how many is damaged/lost during packaging of the combo vs single, without needing to track and compare how many shipment goes into what production line. So especially useful if packaging of both happens at the same facility
Pretty reasonable price with the customization and the extra buttons for long handed bois. I may need to get this cause my scuf analog sticks break once a year, and the elite has rubbery sticks where if you release the stick from full lock it will literally bounce you the other way a little bit, which can mess up menus and specific things. Plus in frantic scenarios I often pop the stick right off of the elite.
This seems like a super nice alternative with easy replacement for commonly broken parts such as sticks!
Also wired means no batteries which is honestly better in the long run!
This reminds me a lot of the Madcatz Pro Circuit controller
I’d definitely go with this or the Razer Wolverine Ultimate, stay away from the Elite series 2, I’ve gone through 3 going on my 4th and I’m just waiting for the replacement so I can sell it. Currently using the Razer and man it has been an upgrade for sure

Theresa wolverine does have back paddles It's just more back triggers style if you get the tournament edition and sideways paddles if you get the normal .
@LTT TO here, wired controllers are preferred for eSports tournaments because they avoid having to sync controllers from one game station to another. And then someone forgetting their controller is synced to a system, hitting the power button by mistake, and shutting down a match in-progress. Wired controllers prevent that, and also ensure reliable signalling of inputs in RF-crowded spaces too. If you're spending that much on a controller, chances are, you're taking it to a tournament.

Being able to change between dpad in the bottom or top is the best thing ever. We need this for nintendo consoles to play 2d/old and fighting games with a dpad on top and on the bottom for everything else

They’ve also made one for PlayStation! Although they want $180 at retailers… There is someone on Amazon selling it for around $140 and under that person is Amazon UK themselves selling it for $131. Other than that, I can’t really find it here where I live or recognize the stores they provide listed on their own website. Hope this helps!

In FH4 the throttle trigger vibrates only slightly until you reach redline. Braking is where you want all the feel so you can tell when the tires are locking up.

You mentioned for what reason they would have different part numbers for factory/modules. I am no expert but it could be to help the factory diagnose a problem when the get a controller or product rma'd.

the main issue with these kinds of controllers is the module connection to the board. after so long the connection becomes intermittent even if you keep the contacts clean, and regardless if you limit swapping the modules around (not constantly swapping them around).

@@JaTirk not even true anymore these days. look at the performance of some wireless mice. their latency is actually lower than a wired connection
@@cloudnine5651 but this is about controllers, so wired controllers are just inherently better for the time being, also provides more reliability in the long run with batteries and such. For some console users, not having wireless could be an issue, but for PC its a great fit in my opinion.
