- Day 3 Mount Grace Shelter to Royalston Falls Trailhead.
It took five years, but I finally completed my section hike of the New England Trail. It wasn’t easy, this was my first multi-night backpacking trip on the new England Trail. We parked one car at Royalston Falls Parking lot and drove to Farley, MA to begin our three days - two nights trip in Northern Massachusetts. Official camping spots on the New England Trail are limited but the plan was to make the most of the two in this area.

Congrats J.R.! Always feel good after watching. You’ve inspired me to continue to boost my mileage.
Tom your going to be doing more for sure. This hobby is addictive. Thanks for you continued support.
Indeed, we are all just big kids at heart! lol You did not make Otis happy with having to put his feet in the water! lol Wonderful sunshine! Hope your week has been going well. Bruce and Otis
Bruce, I guess, I have something in common with Otis. I was hiking in the White Mountain last weekend and it poured on us. So crossing a stream and getting my feet wet was nothing compared to hiking above 4000 feet in the cold rain. Take care!
Hi John.
First, congratulations on completing this trail - a great accomplishment!
This video was another enjoyable, and well-filmed and produced effort.
When I consider what you've had to go through in recent years, this is impressive that you never gave up and completed the NET.
Well Done!
I have a newer philosophy regarding completing trails, which I'll share via email with you soon.
Looking forward to more of your fine videos and seeing you complete others.
Thank you for your channel and sharing the beauty of the Creation with us.
🙂
Ken the NET section hike was one of my fist hiking/backpacking goals. It got a little sidetracked but I stuck with it and I’m setting new goals. They certainly help me focus, but it’s still ok to just do a random hike every now and then. Thanks so much for your support.
So great, this place is really wonderful and peaceful, I love it! Like 17 ❤
I didn’t see many others out on the trail. It could have been early in the season. Thanks for watching!
Woohoo, glad you completed it. It's been a cool season. I will complete more of this eventually, but I was out on the AT for a few days with frost.
This was a great experience and I highly recommend you keep on hiking it.
Congratulations on finishing the NET! Mileage is definitely off. Looks like you did ok with the re-route on section 18. We used FarOut when we did that section in November, the re-rpute wasn't updated on the app then, a friend thru hiked it in March and it still wasn't up to date. Great views of Mt. Grace. Looks like you had a great finish day!
Sue this was a challenge to figure out how far I had to go each day, but for the most part the blazes were good. The storm damage required me to be extra careful when hiking. Thanks for watching!
This was great realized didnt see this one and so glad we went back that was quite. Congratulations 5 years in the making that was amazing! Congratulations really enjoyed this. Your map and narration on your trail was great. Looked like the 9 miles was 11.5 what a day!
Ramblers, this was a goal and it had to be finished, better late than never. I am a real map nerd for sure, I used to go to the library at UCONN in between classes and look at the historical topographic maps. I might have had a higher GPA if I studied more.
Ah, the plight of electronics and battery consumption. Nice work completing the NET - sure seems like stealth options might be necessary if you're doing the whole thing in one go.
I have to admit, I have not gotten the hang of battery management yet. I should not have left the device plugged in overnight. Are you thinking of through hiking the NET?
@@OutdoorsWithJohnUSA I thought about it. I would like to get into through hiking at some point and it seems like a good introduction.
There are a couple local options to consider like the Long Trail and Monadnock Sunapee Greenway.
Seth is always looking for stealth sites…haha!
@@tomtimmons5334 I should probably get a less conspicuous hammock.
Congratulations. Super inspiring that you completed the trail.
Yes it feels good to have done the entire trail. Thank you!
wow congrats for completing the trail! looks like an amazing adventure 😍
thank you for sharing with us this great exploring
This was my longest section hike to date. Thanks for watching!
