@@mustikaraka yes on fb marketplace! I tried my best to find the screenshot I took and include it in the video but this piece has been sitting in my space for over a year and I could not remember when I picked it up exactly so unfortunately I could not find it. You can chose to not believe me but it was absolutely free, I just had to drive for 2 hours.
So glad i found your site. Thank you. Impeccable. And not painted but the Odie's oil and Danish oil made it right after stsining beautifully. Stay well.
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. The vinegar treatment (which is mild acetic acid) removed the surface zinc, leaving the copper. You might be able to return it to the yellow color, but that runs the risk of polishing to too high a shine, or distorting the surface. Next time, I would skip the vinegar treatment and see how it looks. If you still want to use the vinegar treatment, start with less heat (maybe don’t boil the solution once the parts are added), and leave the parts in for less time.
Absolutely stunning piece of furniture!!! 😍😍😍😍 I would have done away with the stain and just used the oil or bees wax... It's personal preference, though. I love the natural colour of oak.
I was heavily debating stripping the entire piece back and sealing the raw wood but I ended up restoring it to its original colour! I think that would have looked lovely too!!
Your drawer hardware may be made of what is called "high brass." It's brass with a very high content of copper. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, in amounts which can be varied to achieve different colors.
I have two antique dressers, can I use the Dutch oil to clean them up. Furniture polish doesn’t seem to really clean it. Nice video and beautiful piece!
The legs up through the side rails, the dividers around the drawers, the rim around the top, those two wooden eschuchens and the top edge of the backslash in a contrasting color or shade to make the rest of the wood pop.
Are restored antiques…looking like they once did…selling? I have many antique pieces in great shape. People have said that no one wants that old stuff anymore. Is this true? You did a great job on this piece. What would you sell this for?
As of yet this piece has not sold. I have had this listed for just under one week. I will make a habit of letting you all know in the community tab the price it sells for. In my experience it does take a little longer for pieces in this style of finish to sell but it’s absolutely possible 😊
I think it should have been completely stripped and refinished. Although beautiful, I think there is somewhat of a disconnect between the color of the doors, drawers, and top. Just elated that you did not paint it though! Thanks!!
I on the other hand was relieved that he replaced it since it's not an obvious outer part. Also the next owner might just cover it up again, since it is a cutlery drawer.
The pink in the handles is the copper showing through. This is what happens when you use the boiling water and vinegar technique. Vinegar oxidizes the zinc in brass which makes the copper in brass show up as pink. This method should never be used.
No paint? Whew! Adding the gold paint was a brilliant move. It looks healthy once again! Lovely!
Thank you 😊

That is so interesting! Thank you!!
Why anyone would get rid of something this gorgeous, I'll never know, especially when it's solid wood!!! 🤷🏽♀️🤷♂️🤷🏽♀️
It’s amazing what you can find on marketplace sometimes! One person’s trash is really another persons treasure

Nice video and beautiful piece!
I would say give it a shot for sure! It can really revive a piece without all the work of fully refinishing
Thank you for NOT painting this gorgeous piece of art. Well done!
Thanks so much! 😁
A beautiful piece. I'd have done a little two-tone look, it needs something.
Great idea! Would you do the drawers fronts a darker / lighter shade? I debated doing something similar. Curious what you think would look best

Clean hardware with soap and water. Buffing removes the antique or intended finish and you can't go back. Nice channel. I'm new.
Do you not try to refurbish the locks and get keys?

I am surprised you restored the top before addressing the rest of the issues.
Why do I NEVER find stuff like this for free on fb marketplace?
It’s like searching for a needle in a haystack sometimes but every once and a while a piece like this appears
❤❤❤
All u had to do was sand off the felt. Better to keep the original wood wherever possible
I on the other hand was relieved that he replaced it since it's not an obvious outer part. Also the next owner might just cover it up again, since it is a cutlery drawer.
It had a really weird smell, which is why I opted to replace it
I just don’t get it -does all furniture have to be brown ? 🌝
Yes it does actually it’s the law

I think you should have done away with the outdated orange stain.
I heavily debated doing so. Would you do a light wash of a darker stain??
