Hey guys, thanks for uploading this. We are heading to Myanmar later this month so it was quite helpful! By the way, you can find cheaper food than this in Thailand very easily. Almost all the local restaurants in most Thai cities/towns/villages cost between 30-50 baht. The whisky was dangerously cheap though!!! Thanks for sharing!

Totally rocking the longyi there, Krystina. The reason why alcohol and cigarettes are so cheap there is that the Chinese own Mandalay. The markets and the prices in them are set to encourage a shift in Burmese life style. Alcohol is not a typical past time, it has become more so in the past 30 years. By the way do you know the story of the last queen, Supalayet. Seems she was jealous of female courtiers who caught the kings attention. So she had them bricked up alive in the outer walls of the Royal Palace! Looking forward to the next video.

The king of Myanmar was put under sort of house arrest by the British in India at a coastal town of Ratnagiri in the state of Maharashtra. He made it his home and was allowed to build a palace which certainly has some similarities with this palace but is smaller. It is called Thiba palace.
We haven't been to Myanmar yet, but we have worked with Burmese refugees in Thailand between the ages of 16-25 and some of the women look very very young.
