I wasn’t really a big fan of Courtney from the beginning. She was mostly C-teir for me in terms of her character. Having her play the lawyer card in Action was stupid to me. It got especially bad when her PDA got Lashawna into s*** later on. The one thing I hated about All-Stars was how oblivious everyone was to Mal! Zoey…oh Zoey, you poor sweet girl. Seriously, how stupid does she have to be?! I thought Lindsay was the ditsy one, and then Zoey came in to take the crown!
You know an episode is bad when it, in a series of well over a hundred episodes across all of its seasons, is regarded as the most infamous and unwatchable one by a country mile in the fandom. If only All-Stars would be officially declared non-canon. And as the producers need to step forward and own up to every time they insulted the audience's intelligence by saying things that were flat out false in the show or failing to demonstrate enough professionalism to avoid things like giving away the elimination orders and screwing the most popular characters.
This awful garbage episode finally delivers the final nail of the coffin for Courtney getting her long awaited comeupance and her justice deserved that winning isnt everything so well important in life and chosing the prize money over any other relantioships she had will cause her descent into madness and competitive nature that causes her real downfall being her worst enemy and among the other contestants that are hating her more than Alejandro and Heather.

Moon madness is at least the episode where the whole trouble from season 3 ended up. That whole trouble was forced out of characters by a network request that wanted a fake couple with more similarities.
Courtney's descent into madness and competitive attitude was triggered from her unfair elimination that she had from TDI episode 12 when the votes were rigged against her, courtesy of Harold by making her life misherable and the decissions that she will make will caused her to lose the competition very easily as winning isnt everything due to her wanting to come on top and valuying the prize money over any other relantioships and never learns from her mistakes to get better as a person/as a character.
This hated and infamous episode from TDAS Sundae Muddy Sundae is basically the equivalent of Everyone knows its Bendy and I Only Have A Surprise For You awful garbage episodes from Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends.
OK, this is going to be long... For me, usually flanderization is taking one or two traits of a character and exaggerating over time to the point it becomes its only trait. For example, Courtney was bossy, self-righteous and uptight in TDI, but at least her bossiness was justified for the most part, since her team was in a losing streak, and she was still one of the most moral characters of the show, but since the writers wanted her to be the villain in TDA, they not only bring her back, but gave her unfair advantages in the show and make her a complete control freak to the point of sending a letter to Duncan of ALL THE THINGS HE HAS TO CHANGE ABOUT HIM IN ORDER TO BE HER BOYFRIEND. So, in the second season, they amplified the negative traits of Courtney in order to be the villain, so I didn't mind too much back then. Character derailment, in the other hand, is when an established character becomes largely different, exhibiting behavior contrary to what has been previously shown, without any organic growth. Sundai Muddy Sundai is one of the best examples of this, because, out of nowhere, Courtney reveals she never had any intention of bringing Gwen to the finale, even though some episodes prior she said she was OK with losing the million to her (both You reggatta be Kidding me and SMS were writing by the same person). For example, I and many people prefer Scott in this season rather than his ROTI version, even though he was dumb down in AS. The reason is (for me), he was never that interesting of a character, he was a manipulator than only succeeded in ROTI because when he wasn't surrounded by idiots the writers dumb down everybody else, and his ¨strategy¨ got old really quickly, and was never that good in the first place. In AS, he was funny and actually trying to help his teammates. Basically, they wrote Scott and Mal to be evil geniuses, but they only succeeded because the script allowed it. This happened sometimes with Heather and Alejandro, but it wasn't as noticeable and annoying because they were well written villains. BTW, seeing that they made the same mistake with Mal in this season (but even worse), and that the new season is going to feature a new cast, I don't have much hope about how this is going to turn out.
