    • @MrOu83
      @MrOu83 4 роки тому +7

Peacehapp - Accra quiet? Really? That has not been my experience. While there are fairly peaceful areas in the Cantamounts (U.S. Embassy area) East Legon & Osu, they are indeed the exception. Lapaz is noisy as hell; the traffic is loud, congested; pedestrians don’t have the right of way here, motorists do, at least that is what’s practiced. It’s quite frustrating and stressful. Just my experience. When I want peace, as I did on 9 May, I go to Cape Coast/Elmina. I absolutely love it. I could sit on the coastline of Elmina and watch and listen to the waves 24/7. I’m an African American, currently stranded (happily) in Accra, Ghana. I have been here for over four months now.

We did not choose to be born in different countries. These choices were made by others benefitting from it which forever sealed my ancestors destiny. Actually, I as a NON-BLACK person want to see Africa flourish !
BUT for that to happen, the following prerequisites must be met:
      1) The entire continent NEEDS to adopt either Christianity or Buddhism!
      2) Make English the official language, rather the ONLY language that could be spoken in the entire continent!
      3) Make education till undergraduate level a COMPULSORY thing !
      4) BAN that rap music which glorifies vulgarity and violence, mind u I'm not at all against sex. In fact, sex-positive thinking MUST be encouraged!
ONCE all these prerequisites r met, THEN the entire African continent will become a magnet to the whole world. The FIRST thing that will happen is the tourism revenue that the continent would be able to realize will be BEYOND expectations. SECOND, the increased tourism WILL project Africa as the next hub for entrepreneurs from around the world given the potential size of the market. THIRD, the prosperity that WILL ensue will help the various African govts to focus MORE on the prerequisites being STRENGTHENED, leading to a virtual cycle of development and prosperity !
PLEASE my fellow beings of the continent, SPREAD this message !

Anae O'Neal Not sure what your plans are but PLEASE GO! It’s sooooo cheap there you will spend much in Ghana Cedi but it only feels like spending a few US dollars. The Ghana Cedi is only $0.18 for every US Dollar. Most everyone speaks English. However, learning Twi is also highly encouraged.
They love Americans and listen to a lot of American music.
Honestly, they are waaaaayyyy more hospitable than Americans.
I am a white guy and they even thought I was a light skinned Ghana native from Kumasi...lol 😂
Well, it’s because they were impressed with how well I was able to pick up the basics of the local language Twi.
My now girlfriend is a Fante/Ashanti mix and she has helped me learn some of the words.
But yes, please go to Ghana. Immerse yourself in the culture and stay as long as you can. The people are just way too good here.
Oh...by the way, you might pick up a bad habit as I did. Everyone here says “Ooohhh...Ok!” Like whether they agree, disagree or don’t even understand! It’s hilarious! I found myself saying it. And you might too. Pay close attention.
Well, I wish you the best. Hardest part is saving for the trip, getting your visa and the yellow fever shot. Once you do that, you are golden!

Naima Kumi my ancestors are African. But we can not disregard the fact that I am CULTURALLY(not racially) American. And that’s ok. That doesn’t make me any less proud of my africanness. Culturally I am different from a continental African. Just like culturally Nigerians are different from Ghanaians and Ghanaians are different from Kenyans and Kenyans are different from South Africans and South Africans are different from Trinidadians, etc. but we’re all African. Me calling myself African American is just to draw a distinction between history and culture. That’s it. YES we are all African. I’ve already said that and I’ve deeply expressed how proud I am to be African. I can be proud of being African while ALSO being proud of the culture black people have made for themselves here in America. One is not greater than the other. And me calling myself African American doesn’t make me any less proud of my lineage.

The really sad part is that there are even black people in the west who believe this. I live in the U.K. I am of Caribbean heritage, but a large part of my family by marriage is Ghanaian. I have been to Ghana several times, and I cannot emphasise enough the feeling of belonging you have when you go there, as mentioned in the video you are not a black woman/man you are just a man. It sounds trivial, and many people will not fully understand it until they experience it for themselves. Everyone should go back, at least once in their lives...it may sound like a cliche, but I honestly don’t think I fully understood who I was until I made that journey.

@Jim Hope Thanks for the good wishes although you are racist.
I also feel you have never been to Africa, therefore you think this way. I really have no time to educate you on why so many black people are in the west so I suggest you gain some knowledge and do some research cuz some people are going to see your comment and just laugh at it and conclude you are ignorant

@Jim Hope lol OK Im tired of going back on forth with you anyways. Also what you said is true, people's opinions on Africa isn't going to change facts about the Continent. Just so you know the only reason I replied to your first comment was because it blatantly showed you are misinformed about the world outside yours but its OK because I might know a lot about my country and my history and have no idea about America for instance. Anyways thanks for your time, God bless.
