Tim Im jealous of how nice your 34 is! You have all the guarding and none of the rust issues we have out east. I think if you pull that Idler for the crowd chain it will give you access to the inside of the housing. my 34 dragline just has a cover plate there.
True, the Lima is in very good condition and plenty of reliable horse power from the 1970’s Cummins. The bucket hoist is weak; needs a clutch adjustment I think. And if I can get that propel jaw clutch freed up, it should travel ok. It walked itself to where I parked it last 3 years ago, so how bad can it be inside the case? I’ll get that top cover off sometime after I finish my chores; I’m a one-man show here.
I hadn’t thought about that crowd idler. If it opens to the case below, it will be a much simpler task to at least see what’s going on inside. Great idea thank you! It’s only five bolts and not too involved. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Beautiful machine! Those old comments are a No Frills engine that just keeps going and going. Thanks for the video!
Interesting video, thank you.

Nice old iron👍
And doing my best to keep it nice. I’m told it’s a local landmark, as it can be seen from the county road. Thanks for watching.
I could see it from Google Earth! Nice old machine.
