Being kind to self allows us to fill cup our own cup or mug thus allowing us to continue on and fill up someone’s empty cup. Even kindness needs to be replenished time and again. Your generosity of spirit reaches out to so many. Thank you for all you are doing for those of us that are distant but care so very much.

So happy to enjoy your company while I knit on a ten stitch blanket for charity. It is one of our first sunny spring days here in central Illinois in the USA. My tulips are blooming and the fruit trees are beautiful!! Loved seeing your flowers.

Our weather in central Virginia has been cool and stormy for two days. Thunder and lightening filled the sky for two hours last night …. Dramatically beautiful, but no danger. Our peonies are in full luscious bloom. The rain and wind had bowed their faces to the earth, so I picked several, shook off the rain, and brought them onto our porch and into our house and placed them in vases. I’m finishing socks for my niece and starting a twin size blanket for littlest granddaughter. I hug you from afar and cheer you on. Keep your balance and take good care of yourself, hubby and children. It was good to see you laugh and smile a bit. Yes, and the refugees need to laugh and smile a bit, even with broken hearts and fear. Praying for your strength and ministry to your new ‘neighbors’ from Ukraine. Thank you

I love that you are not ashamed to show that you are human, as you share your thoughts and feelings with us, your very grateful viewers. I hope you are able to continue recording and that it adds some joy to your life - it certainly gives me much joy to watch. The world is a wreck, we need a few moments of peace. So good to see you Jana. You had exactly the right balance of everything today - plenty of knitting as well as talking about what life is like for you at the moment, which is important for us to hear too. I love the garter stitch cardigan you have started making - and the scrappy cardigan you made your daughter is so, so pretty. Sending love. xx

Thank you for all you are doing to help the refugees from Ukraine. Sometimes we feel guilty when we do something for ourselves when there are so many people suffering but we have to live a somewhat normal life for ourselves and our families. We can only do so much and it sounds as if you are doing all you can. Stay healthy and safe and knit or crochet because that's what we do to help ourselves relax. Thank you for sharing your life with us. We love hearing from you.

So good to visit with you today! We all must keep going forward to take care of others. Knitting will get us thru. I look forward to seeing your FOs. You have a knack for using patterns and colors I would never ever choose and ending up with beautiful knits I would make and wear. Your color sense always nails it. Find peace in your knitting Jana.

Jana, your penguono is beautiful! Maybe the best one I’ve seen yet! I understand the guilt associated with being/ acting normal. I think it’s human nature when we see others hurting so badly. Your smile is infectious, so try keeping it on your face! Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Hi Jana! I live in Maine in the US. Watched this video on March 8. Our weather today was 70 F and just lovely. You are my knitting hero! I am in awe watching you knit. I have struggled for a few years trying to learn and teach myself, but I still feel like a beginner. I am going to turn 75 on June 5 and I live with my youngest daughter and grandson. We have a fairly small modest home here. Used to have beautiful gardens and a large vegetable garden, but my old body won’t cooperate anymore, so we’ve eliminated quite a bit of flower beds and all the vegetable garden, trading it for some tall raised beds. I would love to see Finland but Probably will never be able to. I am very sad about what is going on in Ukraine and have been praying every day for the innocent people. I applaud you for all you do to help them. Well, I really enjoyed this video. Rest and take care of yourself. Bye- bye!

Thank you so much for your recent episodes Jana. It has been good to see you settling into somekind of better balance of your new routine. I truly appreciate your honesty when you talk about the war in Ukraine: the awfulness and fear, and also the recognition that we all need to keep a focus on our mental health and lives at the same time. I have felt guilt for doing ordinary things and such a harsh reflection that this is being denied to so many. Your knits are so beautiful: I love the little fade cardigan that you made for your daughter. So pretty. WE have had some good spring days here in the UK. Bright sunshine and time to be in the garden and sow some seeds: french beans, courgettes, beetroot and some flowers too. Sending hugs and love x

Always love your knitting. The world needs more caring people like you wanting to help , support and hug the Ukraine families arriving from a traumatic war zone. Your kindness will be remembered by them forever. It is very important for volunteers to regroup emotionally. We are keeping Hope alive for Ukraine here in the US. 💙💛 💙💛
We are in spring here on the East coast/ US but having an usually cold spring in my state, making it hard to veggies & flowers that enjoy warmer weather. Happy to see you back !

I'm totally with you on the neutrals and neons thing! Why not?! Your Vaaka cardigan is stunning - love that color and the subtle textured stripe effect.
I am glad that you are taking time to care for yourself. It will keep you sane and help give you more energy for your volunteer work.

Thank you for a closer look at the Maja sweater you knitted. Love it! When you showed the sweater in the last episode, I showed your version to my husband and then showed him the original in Ravelry. He liked yours better. He said while the other is nice and colorful, sometimes simple is better. It is wonderful of you to help the Ukrainian families ❤, it is also important for you to take care of your mental health so you can continue to help them and be there for your family too. Never feel guilty about taking time for yourself, having a quiet cup of tea or coffee, a walk or recording an episode of your podcast/vlog (which gives you a chance to clear your mind).

Jana - looking at how your subscribers are growing, even and maybe especially during this difficult time. I think it shows that we all appreciate and need your view of whats going on. It warms my heart to know that you are there with “hands on”, when I can only send money. In terms of trying to “be normal”, my thought is that you are giving so much to your family and to the refugee group, trying to normalize life for them, because you know that they need that - so I hope that you can allow yourself to have these normal moments too, guilt-free. After all, those folks would love all that part of you too - and there are probably some amazing knitters, crocheters and embroiderers among them who would love to hear about these things too. Take care.

Its spring in the netherlands, 16 °C today. So lovely. Nature is beautiful at the moment.
What a lovely mothersday gift from your daughter. Very original. You can see them in the garden all summer long.
I am knitting Anker's summer shirt from petite knit and planning to knit a cardigan or sweater with pluto lopi after this.
Next friday I am going to a craftfair, the first one in three years. I am looking forward to it.
I am also looking forward to your next vlog. Takecare of your self. Enjoy those little moments, like drinking coffee on the porch with your new mug. Its adorable.

Thank you for taking time to visit with us and have a little feeling of "normal", even though there is no normal now. Spring is here in Northeast Indiana, with Redbud trees in full bloom; early daffodils are done, but the late ones are still yellow and cheery. We have had so much 🌧!! Today there are sunny skies, so I will sit out and enjoy...maybe take a walk in the park. I am finishing up (No Need to) Panic Sweater by Casapinka, and have started a sleeveless shell for spring/summer. Bought lots of yarn at last weekend's LYS Day, and then bought 2 kits for a knitting retreat I'm headed to next month. Be well!

It's been lovely spending time with you today. It is a lovely, sunny Mother's Day here in Ontario, Canada. The weather is warm - 16 Celsius. Spring has finally come. I am working on Petite Knit's Cumulus Tee right now. It is a very slow process, but I am enjoying it. Self-care is critical. If you don't look after yourself, you cannot take care of others. I hope that you are enjoying a lovely day off and I wish you a very happy Mother's Day!

I have 13 grand children, so it takes a while to knit something for everyone. I also just learned to knit this last 18 months, during the Covid shutdowns, so I am slow.

I think all of us are happy that you feel less stressed. It's always a good idea to take time for yourself, you can't do everything for everyone (I tell myself that when I'm overwhelmed). Taking time to knit and relax is something I do for myself as well, is it selfish? Maybe, but in a good way. I'm making a Something Cozy sweater for my middle granddaughter. It's lovely and oversized, she loved the pattern and I found some amazing yarn in my stash to do it with. I've also been making socks just because they go so quickly and are fun to make. Still sending prayers up for the people of Ukraine and for you and your family.

Lovely to see you again Jana and to see your lovely knits. Like you i have not been coping well as my husband is a cancer patient and back on treatment which makes him very unwell. Then the war happened in Ukraine and this has been on my mind so much. At last we have more people arriving from Ukraine, but with such sad stories. I too feel overwhelmed by it all. My knitting helps to escape all that's going on. I am also using Wool Local at the moment and knitting "Woodfolk" a pattern by the Petite Knitter. So glad to see you and knit along with you. Thank you for doing what you can for the Ukrainian people. I am here in the San Francisco Bay Area teaching arts and crafts classes as well as fiber arts. I am currently working on a shawl design for summer using Malabtigo’s Rios Worsted in 866 Arco Iris and the other colors English Rose and Cream. It has loads of eyelids and textures inspired by Steven Wess of Wess Knits but it isn’t as complex or busy. A good shawl on a summer evening is like getting a good hug from a friend that takes away the troubles of the world for a moment. Thank goodness for knitting. 🧶🕊🌏

Hello Jana, weather is nice here in France, although my Normandie has been cloudy and not that warm. Should clear up by next week ! Working on the Slipstravaganza and the Madeleine Sweater to fill my mind with positive actions. Thinking of Ukraine and helping the young around me who just lost one of them has been quite heavy, my knitting is keeping me sane 💛

Even when everything is going crazy, normal and ordinary is still going on. It doesn't deny or hide the horrors and pain happening around us, but it keeps us sane.
I hope you have a wonderful week. I am not a knitter, yet, but I am slowly learning. It is hard when there are so many beautiful crochet patterns capturing my eye.
It is finally warming up in Central Wisconsin, jackets are lighter, and can be taken off some days. So looking forward to flowers in a short span of days.
Thank you for another amazing video.

What a lovely ending to your podcast. Knitting and nature can help soothe our souls. I hope you find some time for yourself this week. Spring has arrived here on the east coast of the USA. Everything is green again. Our tulips are open and the deer and bunnies are looking for snacks. The flowering trees are in full bloom and as you drive around, pink, white and purple blossoms are brightening the yards and our spirits. Sending love and prayers for you and the families you are helping. Happy Mother’s Day!🌷🌹🌻

Love your knitted sweaters! Would love to try one :) working myself up to it. Hope you have an awesome weekend and a very happy Mother’s Day! ❤️

Thank you so much for this delightful episode. Yes all of us really need some normal in these times. Your knits are so gorgeous! Knitting is such a part of us, we do need it for our sanity. I'm knitting Christmas socks (I'm on my second pair of 10 pairs I will knit). I am also knitting me a cotton summer cardigan and some Barbie doll dresses to give away at Christmas time to a local toy drive for underprivileged children. I especially love to make the doll clothes (using fun leftover yarns.). So glad to see you doing better. :)

Been missing you , so last night I was watching an old episode and here you are this morning! Been looking at the pattern Into The Wild. Want to do a white winter fox with black tips and sapphire eyes. Light grey background and blue-green edges, then light blue body. So this summer will hunt for the wool. All your knits are beautiful.

So nice to see you again Jana. I’m glad you are feeling a little bit less stressed. You are doing great work. I love your version of the penguono. I’ve had that pattern for ages, and you make me want to dig it out and get started. Holding mohair throughout has produced a lovely effect. I might have to copy that! Have a lovely weekend and Mothers Day. 🥰🌻🌻🌻

Janam sending you a BIG HUG from Southern California,! It was so nice to see your episode come up making my day complete! I am so happy to hear your weather is finally warming up, but so sorry for the problems with the snow. It is beautiful to look at, but can sure cause a lot of problems. Thank you for sharing your Finished items....I LOVE your Maja Sweater, as well as your Penguono. Sophia will look so pretty in her new dress too! You have been doing more knitting than me....I just feel so helpless not being able to do more for the Ukranian people who have had their lives and beautiful country just destroyed. Since you are closer I know how much harder this is for you, but you are an angel for everything you do, but please try to pace yourself a little bit more so you can get more rest. I too have been lacking motivation and energy to do my knitting or other things as it is just so depressing to see what one person can do to destroy so many lives. I feel guilty to have things so much better while others are suffering so much. But, it is wonderful to see all the neighboring countries stepping up and doing everything they can for the people having to flee their homes. It shows how many more good people there are in the world opening up their homes even to take in these families. I can only imagine how much they are worrying about the men in their families that stayed back to fight for their freedom.. And my heart breaks for the suffering of the elderly. I try to knit some each day, mostly sock knitting, and a Cowl I have been doing from a MKAL pattern by AnnaKnitter, who is in Germany. I enjoy her podcast as well. I have some patterns I want to do for summer tops, but haven't gone into my stash to pull out the yarn. I don't think I realize how listless I am as before I know it the day is over, and in the evening when I really knit the most, am just too tired. It will be really nice to see Sophia's Sunflowers grow this summer. Planting seeds and watching them grow is a wonderful thing for children to see. Watching things emerge from the Earth is one of the miracles we have in our lives. Seeing your forest with the emerging flowers is so pretty. Do you have any wild berries that grow? You can just sit in your chair and not even talk, as just seeing my friend is all that I need to make me happy knowing that you are doing as well as you can and that your family is well too. Have a Wonderful Mother's Day and maybe do a little something just for yourself as no one is more deserving! And I hope you will be able to sit out on your porch and drink your coffee in your beautiful new mug! Sending some of my sunshine and warmth to you from my home in Temecula. Be well my friend, Sandy
