Honestly this was the block you wanted to take off from then, but still you can make some decks, if you look around the coverage for pro tour gatecrash Conley Woods was running a mono-black deck that seemed interesting.
Because Lands are colorless... In order to find the color of a card you have to look at its mana cost, if it has blue in its cost for example, it is blue. Since Lands don't cost anything to cast they are colorless.
Hmmmm guys i got a question If you use renounce the guilds and the only multicolor permanent you have is hallowed fountain, why dont you have to sac it?
In the Utter-Leyton vs Shrout game one shouldn't Jace have died on the first attack against it? The Legion's Initiative should essentially counteract the Jace +1 and the Gore Chainwalker and the little Goblin should swing for five right?
32:35, Rob castellon plays gatecreeper vine and puts the rakdos guildgate onto the battlefield. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought gatecreeper vine put the gate into your hand.
Can someone point out if I'm wrong but wouldn't the better play at ~18:40 be to Aetherize the attacking Medic and Chain Walker, main phase Sphinx's Revelation, then with Josh's mana he's only be able to drop one creature per turn, drop a chain walker and pass. Then UWR woud've had a turn with all of his mana up, a full hand from sphinx's and 10 life staring down a single chain walker?
Here is the description of the keyword "protection" Damaged by sources with the given quality (all such damage is prevented) Enchanted or equipped by permanents with the given quality Blocked by creatures with the given quality (if it's a creature) Targeted by spells of the given quality, or abilities with sources of the given quality. He can still be swept by things such as Supreme Verdict, as it does not target, does not enchant, does not damage, and does not block.
Okay so at 0:35:00 if Ochoa's mini-FoF had hit the 2 Sphinx's and a land, would Castellon's play have been to split it with the Sphinx's in one pile and the land in the other? Would've guaranteed he could stick the Sire of Insanity which would've gotten rid of the Spinx's Revelations itself. That would've been a neat play to see.
That's close to the definition of protection but not quite. 1. Damage is reduced to 0 by x 2. can't be targeted by spells or abilities that is x 3. Can't be blocked by x 4. Enchantments with an older time stamp than x goes to the graveyard. (White Ward is a white enchant creature that gives the creature it targets Protection from White and it doesn't fall off)
I see your point and it's completely valid. but that's kind of the point of Ravinca's guild. and for most players (especially the pro's) multiple color decks are not an issue, because that's how most player's play these days anyway. it's extremely rare to see a pro tour player with a mono deck.
ok so can someone explain how castellon made it to the top 8? in game three he had a blood baron of vizkopa on the field and dusty used a supreme verdict, which is white and blue, but blood baron of vikopa has protection from white and black so wouldnt the blood baron have survived there?
00:10 i have mirko vosk, mind drinker, found him in a random pack, yet to use him though , im building a black/blue vampire deck. im going to get a booster box + fat pack from either innistrad or dark ascension. SO EXITED!
No, he wasn't. He was insinuating that the OP was implying he was charming the voice, when he was in fact charming to draw in response to the voice being played; therefore he would not get a token and he could still draw the card.
Am I the only one who thinks that Mashall Sutcliffe's voice is too damn similar to The Walking Dead's The Governor's voice? It scares the crap out of me...
Protection only protects from targeting of those colours. Supreme Verdict is all creatures and indiscriminate. Protection does not protect against this, you would need indestructible on the permenant or an ability like AEtherling that phases it out for a split second while the ability of Supreme Verdict resolves.
Except Ral Zarek. No one hates Ral Zarek. Even if you hate Ral Zarek, you don't hate Ral Zarek. And Voice of Resurgence. You can't hate Voice of Resurgence. Even if you hate Voice of... yeah you get it.
9 times out of 10 you are going to play a 2 colour deck to begin with, so whys it matter? plus, dragons maze has soem of the best cards ive seen in a while.
lol... no no no.. azorius charm puts voice on top of his deck. Dies in magic terms means, a creature goes from board to the grave yard. even exiling voice doesn't create a token. :)
07:06 that is the second land shrout played in the turn... That mistake is very commen on this pro tour seems they all learnt from melissa at gatecrash!
idk about anyone else, but this set has some of the best art
my favorite magic player (lsv obviously) is doing the commentary - faith in humanity is restored!
Can you check out their decklists somewhere? I didn´t find anything so far.
Can anyone explain to me what that thing on Utter Leyton's head is?
I believe lands are technically colorless; since they produce mana. Anyone can correct me if I`m wrong.
Honestly this was the block you wanted to take off from then, but still you can make some decks, if you look around the coverage for pro tour gatecrash Conley Woods was running a mono-black deck that seemed interesting.

Can he wear headphones during sideboard? I wondered about that too.
My friend has a fire protection aura pernament i keep losing can somebody tell me how to win?
In the Utter-Leyton vs Shrout game one shouldn't Jace have died on the first attack against it? The Legion's Initiative should essentially counteract the Jace +1 and the Gore Chainwalker and the little Goblin should swing for five right?
How do you know?
32:35, Rob castellon plays gatecreeper vine and puts the rakdos guildgate onto the battlefield. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought gatecreeper vine put the gate into your hand.
Bandaid on finger to avoid card damage... to hand?
What type of mountain is josh using?

volcanic strength? I would recommend unsummon, naturalize, searing spear, mizzium mortars, murder, or smite depending on what colors you are playing
Is this on a channel?? Please respond and thank you alot if u do tell me
Can you exile Legion's Initiative from your hand without actually playing it on the battlefield first?
Wait, lands are colorless?
Here is the description of the keyword "protection"
Damaged by sources with the given quality (all such damage is prevented)
Enchanted or equipped by permanents with the given quality
Blocked by creatures with the given quality (if it's a creature)
Targeted by spells of the given quality, or abilities with sources of the given quality.

Is Josh Utter-Layton wearing headphones? Why?
was day9 in this?!?!?! how did he do?
all lands are considered colorless, not the colors that they produce. (i thought the same thing at first)
What kind of headphones are Josh wearing??
Okay so at 0:35:00 if Ochoa's mini-FoF had hit the 2 Sphinx's and a land, would Castellon's play have been to split it with the Sphinx's in one pile and the land in the other? Would've guaranteed he could stick the Sire of Insanity which would've gotten rid of the Spinx's Revelations itself.

what is spam nowadays? cause I'm not sure this is?
First of all, 7:06 isn't even Shrout's turn, it's Wescoe's upkeep, and the only land Shrout played on his turn was a Mountain, just one land.
when had rakdos ever done well in a tourny? other than legacy goblins
I see your point and it's completely valid. but that's kind of the point of Ravinca's guild. and for most players (especially the pro's) multiple color decks are not an issue, because that's how most player's play these days anyway. it's extremely rare to see a pro tour player with a mono deck.
LSV is the best guest commentator by far.
best of 5?
Yes this done done during the top 8 of pro tours.
You're right :D, Shrout most probably have forgotten that the medic can counter X spells
what a great game, and that enchantment is epic
You see that grayish/brown color around the border of every single lands? That's not WUBRG (white/blue/black/red/green)
Thanks a lot dude! Appreciate it!
Why do people downvote questions like this? He was just asking a question...
more specifically how is he a judge if he makes that kind of mistake? Assuming im not mistaken.
What mistake?
OMG, I have Prophetic Prism!
But I do agree on the fact that RTR had amazing stuff.
these old pro tour videos have become some of my favorite mtg content. shame the pro tour got razed.
ok so can someone explain how castellon made it to the top 8? in game three he had a blood baron of vizkopa on the field and dusty used a supreme verdict, which is white and blue, but blood baron of vikopa has protection from white and black so wouldnt the blood baron have survived there?
dude its block constructed
Lands are colorless I'm pretty sure.
Arbor Elf isn't a land though...
why, I honestly think it's the best of 2013's sets. what's so bad about them?
Sire of insanity is fun for everyone -Rob Castellon
that was his land drop for the turn, he just put it straight into play.
Oh god damnit, not Rich Hagon.
00:10 i have mirko vosk, mind drinker, found him in a random pack, yet to use him though , im building a black/blue vampire deck. im going to get a booster box + fat pack from either innistrad or dark ascension. SO EXITED!
Did everyone forget that Legions Initiative gives +1 to red creatures? He should of done 4 to jace and 13 when attacking.
I was about to ask the same question
What in the fuck how did I get here fucken hilarious
Zendikar lands. Kinda expensive, but really nice.
He hadn't played a land yet. So he played it after adding it to hand.
He played a land and casted it watch again. Not to mention he was on the draw that game. And then all of a sudden hes plus 1 on his opponent.
Great job, Dusty
No, he wasn't. He was insinuating that the OP was implying he was charming the voice, when he was in fact charming to draw in response to the voice being played; therefore he would not get a token and he could still draw the card.
Food is a verb now? I have seen it all!
LSV: "There is no correct way to say Pithing Needle."
The dictionary says otherwise.
"...well there is."
haha yea day9 plays magic and starcraft, hes trying to get better at MTG, im still pretty new to it myself only collected a couple packs.
Am I the only one who thinks that Mashall Sutcliffe's voice is too damn similar to The Walking Dead's The Governor's voice? It scares the crap out of me...
Why are they mixing the cards in their hand all the time, it's annoying
LSV got the Ben Stark's "I mean"
why this guy is shuffling his cards constantly ? This should make an opponent nervous or what ?
Protection only protects from targeting of those colours. Supreme Verdict is all creatures and indiscriminate. Protection does not protect against this, you would need indestructible on the permenant or an ability like AEtherling that phases it out for a split second while the ability of Supreme Verdict resolves.
No. Like any creature with a pay or a tap ability, it has to be on the board to use it. Otherwise that would be overpowered and ridiculous.
Except Ral Zarek. No one hates Ral Zarek. Even if you hate Ral Zarek, you don't hate Ral Zarek. And Voice of Resurgence. You can't hate Voice of Resurgence. Even if you hate Voice of... yeah you get it.
yea no doubt! figured as much
Loled so hard when zac said I can't wait
Craig Wescoe looks like a young Geoffrey Rush.
That's not a multicolored permanent. Lands are colorless. Colorless is not colored.
So... No Beyoncé?
I PULLED A FOIL VOICE OF RESURGENCE!!!!
I agree.. a simple question. not spam
Yes.
damn Daywalker would have been awesome!! :D
You know, when you're fooding poorly because you're not good at magic. Everyone fooded poorly once.
Oh no, my young noob. You will find that it is you who are mistaken. About a great many things.
9 times out of 10 you are going to play a 2 colour deck to begin with, so whys it matter? plus, dragons maze has soem of the best cards ive seen in a while.
lánds are couloirless
Lands do not have a colour; they only produce the colour on the card.
shrout plays the finals of a pro tour and then doens't aetherize the medic so he can get countered. Pretty sad...
lands are considered colorless
Wait their was no Beyoncé lol
@33:22 Voice should have produced a token...
Lands arnt colored they have forest mountain swamp island an plains shock lands arnt multicolored they just produce one or the other mana
legions initiative didn't hit the field
Dryad Arbor***
He didn't play a land that turn so he just put it in play.
D-maze really wasnt that bad, I mean, ral was awesome, of course. But look at Deadbridge chant, or Voice of Resurgence. :D
lol... no no no.. azorius charm puts voice on top of his deck. Dies in magic terms means, a creature goes from board to the grave yard. even exiling voice doesn't create a token. :)
07:06 that is the second land shrout played in the turn... That mistake is very commen on this pro tour seems they all learnt from melissa at gatecrash!
blood baron has pro white survives verdict
nice
combo-braker!
lands aren't colored. they techniccally are colorless, despite the mana they produce. hope this helped
It was countered.
