  • The Patagonia Triolet Jacket is a high-performance, three-layer Gore-Tex jacket designed for outdoor enthusiasts who demand the best protection from the elements. Made with eco-friendly materials and manufacturing processes, the Triolet is not only a top-performing technical jacket, but also a responsible choice for environmentally-conscious individuals.
    First off, the fit of the Triolet is exceptional. It has a slim, athletic cut that hugs the body without restricting movement, and the adjustable hood and cuffs provide a customizable fit. The longer hem in the back provides extra coverage and protection from wind and snow. I appreciated that the jacket didn't ride up or feel bulky during activities like skiing and hiking.
    The Gore-Tex fabric is what really sets the Triolet apart from other jackets. The three-layer construction provides complete waterproofing and breathability, so I never felt clammy or wet, even during heavy exertion. The jacket is also windproof, which was a lifesaver during a particularly gusty day on a mountain. The Gore-Tex fabric is durable and abrasion-resistant, which is especially important when bushwhacking or climbing.
    The Triolet also has a number of useful features that make it a versatile piece of gear. The pockets are well-placed and generously sized, with two large chest pockets that easily fit gloves, hats, and snacks. The internal pocket is perfect for a phone or wallet. The zippers are waterproof and easy to use, even with gloves on. The jacket also has pit zips for ventilation, which came in handy during a warm spring ski tour.
    One of the standout features of the Triolet is its commitment to sustainability. Patagonia is known for its environmental ethos, and the Triolet is no exception. The jacket is made with recycled materials, and Patagonia has a robust repair program to extend the life of their products. The company also donates 1% of their sales to environmental causes, which is a nice touch.
    There are a few minor drawbacks to the Triolet, although they are largely subjective. The jacket is heavier than some other Gore-Tex options, which could be a consideration for ultralight backpackers or climbers. The jacket also has a relatively high price point, although the quality and durability justify the cost. Lastly, while the jacket is versatile, it is still primarily designed for colder weather and may not be the best option for warmer temperatures.
    Overall, I highly recommend the Patagonia Triolet Jacket for anyone in need of a high-performance, sustainable jacket for outdoor activities. Its fit, breathability, and waterproofing make it ideal for skiing, hiking, and climbing, and its durability and commitment to sustainability make it a responsible choice for the environmentally-conscious.

    The fit is PERFECT for layering, which is the point of the Triolet. What I especially like is the length- It's shorter than most ski shells- which I prefer.

      The fit is great for layering, though for me it is still a tad big even with layers underneath, but I'd much rather have it be a tad bit than too small. I have no problem with range of motion whatsoever in this jacket, which I love.

    Love your videos! Fellow Coloradan as well. I’ve been working on my closet and have been mainly picking up Patagonia and Arcteryx gear. Your videos have helped me with the Pat gear.
    Thoughts on this jacket compared to the granite crest and Arcteryx beta lines?
    Thanks for your helpful reviews! Glad to see abbreviated videos.

      Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to test out the other jackets you've mentioned so I can't speak much to them. Glad to hear these have been a bit of a help to you though! I'll let you know if I get my hands on either of those other jackets to compare them.

    I’m only 14 but 5’7 and want to have it for a while so I will grow into it. You think M would be better than S? I’ll be wearing it everyday but also going skiing next year

      For me, the Medium was better because I can easily layer underneath it.

      I’m 6 foot and even for me the medium sometimes feels a bit too big. I think get a small.

    I was surprised after buying the Triolet, that even though the zipper is YKK , it is not Vislon. Can someone confirm whether the latest 2024 is using Vislon or just another type of YKK?

      Unfortunately, I don't have the 2024 version, but if you reach out to Patagonia through the chat on their website they are usually really helpful

    I am looking to buy this jacket, but i struggle with size. For reference, how tall are you? I usually go with large, but in this case i am stuck between M/L. Thanks in advance.

      I am 5'7", around 155 pounds depending on the season. I use this for layering so I went with the medium.

    Hi! I wanted to ask how tall you are? Because I'm considering M and L and am athletic fit 167 pounds and 5'11. I am planning to wear this over a hoodie or crewneck on rainy days. What do you think?

    • @almostadventurous
      @almostadventurous  Рік тому +1

      I'm 5' 7" with a 5' 9" wingspan. I'm right around 150. I think the Medium is probably the way to go. Since the fit is boxier I would imagine that the large would just be too big.

    how tall are you and what is your waist / chest? I'm also between a small/med.

      I'm 5'7", 150 pounds. My chest is right around 37" and my waist is 31". For me the medium allows for quite a bit of layer without that feeling of being stuffed into a sausage casing so I'm glad I went with that.

    I want a second layer of fleece pants, Do you have any good suggestions? thx!

    • @almostadventurous
      @almostadventurous  Рік тому

      The Patagonia R2 pants may be a solid option depending on what activity and temps you’re using them for. Another way to go, though they’re not fleece, is Nano Air pants if you can find them. They’re stretchy and synthetic and unbelievably comfortable.
      For climbing/alpinism, I like to check out this article, it’s super thorough and by a really respectable climber: www.patagonia.com/stories/colin-haleys-clothing-system-for-alpine-climbing-in-the-chalten-massif/story-95145.html

    Where did you get the 75% discount on the triolet?

    • @almostadventurous
      @almostadventurous  9 місяців тому +1

      I buy all my gear secondhand, from Poshmark, eBay, goodwill, etc. Gotta be on the lookout for deals and know how to spot a fake but it’s worth it. Almost all the gear on my page is secondhand.

      Thank you for the quick and precise answer!
      Any tips on how to tell if it's a fake or not with a jacket like the triolet?
