- Sunidhi Chauhan, in a candid chat with ETimes TV, does not show surprise that Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya and Vishal Dadlani are showering only praises on contestants. She says even she was told to do the same thing when she judged the show back in the day, which is why she eventually quit.

The point where Sunidhi said that audiences dont connect with the judges' comments anymore, it is true! This is the only reason I donot watch reality shows anymore, bcz I dont feel connected at all and its frustrating! There is no critisism at all. Sa re ga ma pa, indian idol, we waited for new seasons every year previously, bt now? Its jst sad nd disheartening.

I donot even call them songs! They r basically some rhyming lines said aloud in a particular rhythm. There is no singing, I hate the fact that I have to live in such a generation where there is noooo more song, raag, taal, murkiyan, no more talking about thaat. Why!

Songs like Laal ishq, aayat, Ab ke sawan, Ek dil hai, baithi hai etc.. are perfect examples of songs with semi classical approach in them. Yeah, i agree that the number of such songs has reduced dramatically but we get a few in between. As long as directors like ARRehman, Shankar mahadevan, Amit Trivedi, and singers like Arijit, Shreya, etc.. are there in the industry , we ll get such songs... About the current fast beat, hip hop , rapp songs, its trending now, so, obviously, songs of such kinds would be produced more...
Sonu and Sunidhi both have always said they don't like over praising. Judges contestant ke pair touch kare aisa hota hai kya? I am more interested in learning ki flaws kya hai so even I can learn more. Anyway Sunidhi left II because she had other better things to do.
Indian idol makers be ashamed to have priased their contestents for TRP!! There were more genuine judges like sunidhi, sonu, shreya , shaan and saleem but they were ruled out of the show!!!

Please don’t compare old reality shows with new reality shows. Back then they didn’t know what cheating was or frictionalising content. It was very authentic and genuine they also didn’t have auto tune
Very true. Contestants those days really had tough competition. The different rounds were judged very stringently. Today, we do see very good fresh talented participants, but the judges sound so fake. Their reaction to every singer is "arre baap re! This is the most sensational talent the world has ever come across. Out of the world, outstanding, kya baat hai, blablabla" ... Same for almost every performer out there. In fact, my question is, why are the judges sitting there at all, if all they are doing is aahaaing and ohoing and crying everytime a "pyari ma" song is sung?

Nothing new is coming out because everyone is being told to try and emulate what’s already been gone and done.
Totally agree. Sunidhi was a pioneer when she first came onto the scene, nobody sounded like her. I used to watch some of these audition programmes but I feel like there's no creativity because everyone is expected to cover a song in exactly the same way that the original singer sang it. Right down to the same vocal inflections and adlibs. Additionally I can't think of many recent winners who have gone on to properly build successful careers in music after the show. I shouldn't be surprised but the producers keep prioritising ratings and entertainment value over actually nurturing talents.

Im a student of shri guru Ram Rai medical College student of pharmacy and recently on 2nd may 2024 there was a fest in my college and I was near of stage and i saw Sunidhi Chauhan mam performing live on stage and first time in my life i saw such wonderful artist and Bollywood singer in real life.and I want to aprichiate Sunidhi mam her energy level and performance was brilliant outstanding ❤😊

If I am not wrong (which I am not), her early childhood and original name was 'Nidhi'.
Some music Director or Composer (I am not sure which one) changed her name later; as I learnt later.
But I am sure for more than correct that her appearance during 'Meri Awaz Suno' was 'Nidhi' - give or take more than 100 percent.

You are 100% right sunidhi mam, i felt that anjali gaikwad was most genuinely disciplined and tough contestant and she wasn't given footage, she was completely ignored, she was allowed to sing only one song (most of which wasn't telecasted), her performance was kept at last, judge rarely gave her comments !her elimination from show was completely planned

Remember SOUMYA was the winner in one of the seasons of SaReGaMaPa..

Shreya sunidhi sonu they are my favorite singers from my childhood they r evergreen singers... I lv them🥰
Trp fetching is not so bad in itself...as long you also prioritize the art...music in this case... we want to get a next Sonu or Shreya... its difficult but we would like to try and be positive.... But only trp in the cost of good music is not acceptable... Arunita is good, but you can't say she is showing that much improvement... Pawan is good but not extraordinary save a few performances...
I haven't watched so many reality shows (cool banne ki koshish nahi kar raha, ghar main allow nahi tha zyada der tak TV dekhna) but I've watched dil hain hindustaani season 2 where she was one of the judges. Aur agar kabhi mauka mile to main zaroor recommend karunga ki us show ka wo season dekhe. And the reason is of course Sunidhi ji. Because the way she judged the contestants and made her opinions, I don't know about you, lekin mera to man kiya ki main unke saamne gaau aur unke judgement sunu. Because she didn't just say you are good or you are bad. She pointed out what was good, what was bad, at which point they need improvement, how to improve. She didn't just stop there just by saying, she sang on the spot that exact song to help the contestants. Wo unko hamesha kuch sikhake bhejti thi, aisa nahi ki kuch bhi bol ke beijjati kar di. A true music genius

I had been a part of Indian idol in 2013 … i had literally seen all the mean things happening and that time the major negtv role was of Anu Malik. I am happy now he is not that major role in the team atleat. All the contents are morphed/doctored/auto tuned before we all see them on screen.

Mujhe sabse pehle bulaya gaya tha final round k liye. Matlab k subah 7 ka samay diya tha or main jab pahochi waha koi crew bhi nhi tha. 3 baje k aas paas Anu malik, sunidhi chauhan or salim merchant aaye venue pe. Or 2 baje aaye huye the sa re ga ma k top 50 contestants jinme pavni pandey bhi thi. Un sab ka audition pehle liya gaya or sabko select kiya gaya. Or har Ek contestant k baad judges 30/40 min ka break lete the. Ese karte huye meri baari raat k 12:30 baje aai.
Us waqt un logo k mood na hone ka bahana de kar kaha k agli baar aaiyega hum khafi thak gaye hai.
Bakayda waha k contestants or crew or jo judges humara selection initial stage pe lete hai woh bhi shocked the yeh sun k . Tab ek bande ne aake puchha ki tumje kya lagta hai tumhe isse bollywood mein chance milega?
Or bole ki anu malik k bhai dabbu malik k band mein mere papa dholak player hai or main khud kayi baar apne pair ghis chuka hu industry mein tab jake mujhe sa re ga ma ka top 40 banne ko mila or ab yaha select hua

She was a good judge.. I was a contestant in a show where she was judge.. She used to give very helpful feedbacks to all contestants rather than praising contestants which happens nowadays on TV shows..
Even Sonu Nigam is an excellent judge.. He gives very helpful feedbacks..

If sunidhi was asked to praise the contestants, than that might have happened in Season 6 (2012) because when Sunidhi was part of the judging panel in the last season (2010), I saw her giving contestants her opinion of how they sang, and sometimes she criticized them
Sunidhi Chauhan Can't do fake judging like Neha , himesh, Vishal , that's way she left indian idol. In session 5,6 sunidhi chauhan is very straight forward like sonu nigam , Acche ko Accha bolti thi aur bure ko bura . Best judge ever ❤️🙌

Good interview, in a time & age when only "feel good" sells. To add to why nobody is really shining from reality shows: also has to do with 10 talents available today in the place of 1 earlier with so many more having access to learning & working that much more hard.
Only shreya ,Sunidhi ,shaan and sonu sir..4s....noone can replace
