    Very impressive design: lots of innovative features. I would like to see more emphasis on larger refrigerator/freezer capacity for extended trips. That day head area, in my view, would be much more useful housing an additional refrigerator, a separate freezer, and more dry storage. You could make that a floor plan option. Day trippers might opt for the day head. Week long trippers would probably opt for the added refrigeration. Refrigeration thoughts aside, great walk-through and a very nice boat!

      There was a lot of deck space out back. You might be able to fit a nice small deep freeze, and keep the day head. There is probably a lot of dry storage that he didn't show like under the dinette seating. It would be nice to know capacities, and range, but I guess that is easy enough to look up. Nice boat, and nice walk through.

      Oh really? Then why are the mast, rails, and helm designed to fold down? And why does the factory offer an "Aluminum triple axle trailer, electric hydraulic brakes, spare tire and mount -- $15,600.00" as an option. And why has my brother trailered his R-29, the predecessor of the R-31? See: ua-cam.com/video/wB75gG3ugUU/v-deo.html

      @@seikibrian8641 the 29 has an 8 ft beam. This 31 has a 10 ft beam. And while it is trailerable, you will need to familiarize yourself with oversized load laws in whatever state you are trailering in. In some states you may be able to get an "annual permit". In many states you will have to apply for a permit each trip. That is for any load you haul on public roads over 102 inches, or 8'6". If you leave it in the water all season and only trailer it home once and to the marina once, trip permits may not be an issue. It would only be 40 or so bucks a year, depending on the states oversized load fees. But a permit fee every trip would get old. And the fines for not having proper oversized load permits can run into the hundreds, if not thousands of bucks, depending on what state you got ticketed in. While this boat may technically be trailerable, it may not be practical for most people. One last point. In the video, it said the command bridge folded to 14ft. In many states, loads over 13'6" inches may require a flag car with a highpole running in front of the tall load to ensure it doesn't hit a bridge or other overhead obstruction. Other states, your permit will dictate your routing. Get caught off route, more huge fines.
      Edit: I stand corrected by SuckiBrian. The 29, like his more successful, smarter, and likely more polite brother has has a 10ft beam. I don't see how that negates my points about potential issues with oversized loads. But Brian has to be right. So I now to his expertise. Lol

    Is it trailerable throughout Canda? Do you need a permit and/or a wide load sign?

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 6 років тому

      With a 10-foot beam this boat is considered "over dimension" in all of Canada. (The limit is 8'5" nationwide.) The rules may vary in different provinces and territories, but in British Columbia you can tow a load up to 10'6" without an escort vehicle, but a permit is required.

    • @sirlancelot3109
      @sirlancelot3109 5 років тому +1

      Canada also has trailer requirements for oversize. No surge brakes and brakes on each axle. Also there may be height restrictions on some routes as I’m guessing this is 13-14’ on the trailer. You may need to take ferrys into consideration. You’ll need to book as a commercial load especially during the summer months returning from the island. The oversize rates are quite high.

      Well, unless you stopped driving prior to 1976, you were wrong for much of that time. The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 23 CFR Part 658 sets the maximum vehicle width at 102.36 inches (2.6 meters) EXCLUDING MIRRORS. 102" = 8'6". See: ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freight/publications/size_regs_final_rpt/images/fig1.gif
      It was 96 inches (8') prior to the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1976, then 102 inches, then "metricized" to 2.6 meters (102.36 inches).

      @@RockwoodJoe At least it is a fresh water toilet. It is somewhat of a luxury to have 2 heads on a 31 ft boat. For day cruising or weekend trips I would probably keep the day head. Plenty of fishing room on the back deck, and I like the docking helm stations for single or short handling. Only so much room on a 31 foot boat, but they seemed to create a pretty good floor plan while still keeping trailering as an option.
