There's a lot of Cisco still there. Even Johnny Cash wrote a song. That is quite an honor for Cisco.

Another great video. Love the history of these old towns. As Another viewer stated, the interstate is the death of these small towns. High speed highways have no charm or character like the places that are passed too quickly by. I'm so glad you search for the remains of these forgotten gems. Always enjoy seeing your videos dear. stay safe and GOD bless

So true. The real charm and character of any region here in the USA is not on the "Super Slab", but off on those old two lanes. I bet that chat with the lady in the store was equal to the time saved blasting down the interstate. As a traveler "just passing through" on a motorcycle, I have had the best talks with the locals and found even more great treasures to enjoy. Then there is also the history of times past that also awaits there to be seen.
Once again, another wonderful video to watch!

@@TravelwithaWiseguy I crossed the Mohave desert With my cousin Ti-Jean who drove the car at 115 F. in the shade, and there was no shade. Between LA and Vegas, we went to visit a ghost town where they made Western, It was truly a ghost town and one living soul there helped us on our way, an ice cream machine he had so we had a vanilla ice cream cone before heading for Vegas. Asking him what he was doing there out of season cinema ghost town? He answered in case lost people come by and could die in the desert, so he was there to help you out with a vanilla ice cream cone. 🍦🍦

I have been there many times over the past 50 years headed to Moab. You can see the many faded dreams there and many other places in the West. It is hard for us to understand why many gave their life's to such desolate places.

Charlie Steen, the Uranium King had a tar paper shack there in '52, when he was headed to Grand Junction with a load of drilling cores he stopped at the gas station for some gas on credit, there was a geiger counter there and it went crazy, Charlie had hit a 'mother lode'... For the rest of the story Google "My Old Man:" THE URANIUM KING... Great stuff.

Ghost towns are a product of new high ways. It's sad! Your ghost town videos brought it to my attention. The hole you showed in Cisco reminded me of this fact. An abandon 12 inch irrigation well is big enough for the average man to slide into , arms above his head. He would slide on down. A child would slide down faster.

That was what I was thinking also. Years ago I read somewhere that many hikers in the wilderness who have disappeared and could not be found may have fallen down Wells and could not get out. That is why I always stay on trails when hiking.

Drove through there a few times in the early 70s before I-70 when US 6-50 went through there. Wasn't a lot left then, Gas Station / Store and a few mobile homes. The houses and other buildings were pretty much already deserted. I need to look at the original Vanishing Point again .

That's a neat song, I've never heard it before. So true of so many little towns lost because of the interstates. There is so much to be enjoyed off the inerstate and on the state routes or dirt back roads. I've often wondered if you have ever come upon a rattler or two as you wonder through these old ghost towns. Love your videos, keep up the good work.

Now this is what I call a ghost town. All that is there are ghosts, memories, nobody there but the foot print of the town. One day you will go back to Monowi, Nebraska. The one resident there will have long died. You will go to that bar that was once full of life and activity and now will look like that Cisco Filling Station along with every other building in the now ghost town of Monowi, and you will have the unique experience of being able to remember what that place looked like in life and now what it looks like in decay.

It makes sense but I see absolutely nobody in Cisco. I wonder who is buying the souvenirs to keep the store in business? Today many people are in such a hurry to the point forgetting how enjoying the simple pleasures in life are very important. For those in a hurry, their ideal of a ghost town is just another tacky tourist trap claiming to be a ghost town. Cisco's owner want her Ghost Town to be an art colony. How many artists are willing tp go to a place like Cisco only if they are aware of it. Some of the ghost towns which seem to be tacky tourist traps are being preserve by the local residents. As a lot of people are starting to notice the conflict between living the traditional America Dream ( some call the American Nightmare) and the New versions of the American Dream.
This quote is a version of another similar one
"If a society tends to forget history, it is condemn to repeat it!"
