I literally love Ridley Scott when he talks about films. He’s so in love with making them he’s confident of his ability but never arrogant and I feel just tells you very simply about the small levels of trickery that make up a full length motion picture.
Well, the fly-by shots of the city aren't amazing, but everything else is absolutely stellar and I'd choose it over modern movie production any day. It shows that technology/CGI is not a substitute for talent and passion.

Blade runner is a totally unique and brilliant movie. Everything about it is world class. They really don't make them like this anymore. My own favourite scene is the meeting between Daryl Hannah and the guy with the ageing disease... Brilliant movie ! Never gets old and looks better than most modern movies. This masterpiece still gets talked about while too many recent movies just fade away ...
Ridley is a stone cold GENIUS. You can see it in all his films. I remember I met Joe Turkel, the man who played 'Tyrell' the creator of the replicants in the movie, at a hot dog joint in LA one afternoon. I kept staring at him, thinking, "Where have I seen this guy before??" His facial features were so unique. Then I realized that without the thick glasses he wore in the film was the reason I couldn't put it together. I walked up to him and asked to be sure, and he was the most friendly and terrific guy you can imagine, nothing like the character you see on the screen. But that's what good acting is all about, right?
Saw the movie the other day in the cinema for the first time, it's a godly experience, the sound, the visuals, the feels,it's all glorious. So much character, amazing.
Ridley Scott has such amazing range. Alien to Blade Runner to Gladiator to Thelma and Louise and more. It blows me away that he has never won an Oscar.
Makes sense because Tyrell is a gnostic Demiurge who gets killed by his own "son" who destroys his eyes. Very symbolic. It has a little-bit of an Egyptian (masonic) touch, as well as something from greek mythology. The movie also could have been called "Prometheus".
The arquitecture of Franklin Lloyd Wright is another carachter in the movie, in my opinion. It gives a sensation of strange but cool to the ambient and also futuristic but old, if that makes any sense. :)
I cannot think of any movie that can compete with this movie if you gave me a year. Beautiful soundtrack, Rachel, and the scenery, and not forgetting the acting. This is one of the greatest movies ever.
