I've almost given up on making Indian food. It just never came out tasting good! Then a friend told me I could use my Instant Pot. "No Way that will work" I said. But.... I looked it up on UA-cam and found this video. AMAZING!!!! My whole family loved it. Even my kids who won't try anything new. Thank you so much for this video! Excited to try more of your recipes :)
That’s great to know everyone loved this recipe, thanks for letting me know your wonderful comment really made my day. Hope you’ll enjoy my other recipes as well 😊
I tried so many butter chicken recipes, even the ones that required more traditional way of cooking, i tried your recipe which was fast and convenient and voila, cant believe it tasted so good!!! Thank you for this recipe 😍😋
I love butterd chicken. Unfortunately the closest restaurant to me is 40 minutes away. Tonight is my 2nd time making this recipe. Feels like I'm at the restaurant when eating it! Thanks for the post and will check out you're other recipes!
I am ready to make this! I got the chicken prepped this morning and marinating in plain greek yogurt with salt pepper and garlic. Other than that, they followint the recipe and are very excited. I love you. I have two instapots.
Thank you for this recipe!! I can't believe butter chicken could be so good with these few ingredients. I was craving for Indian food after a long day at work but didn't want to stay in the kitchen for hours! This was done in half an hour and so tasty!
Just found your channel and I made your Curry Chicken & Potatoes tonight. It was delicious! This Butter Chicken is what I'll be making tomorrow. Looks amazing!
Thanks for your wonderful feedback, glad to know you enjoyed chicken curry. Butter chicken is delicious as well, hope you'll enjoy it, do let me know :)
@@thasneen Ok! It was perfection! I added half a lemon just before serving ... because I add lemon to everything. lol! Yummmmmm!! Thank you so so so much! I love this!
Kashmiri chili is very mild & has vibrant red color. If you like the heat you can replace with regular chili powder- add based on your spice level. Hope you’ll enjoy this recipe 😊
I just want to know if you use yellow onion/ sweet onion or white onion? Does it matter ? I usually use yellow but just wondering what tastes best, just starting to cook this cuisine
For cooking I always use yellow onions, that’s the best for curries, stews, soups, etc, so you’re on the right track 😊 Red onions are great for salads. Hope you’ll enjoy this recipe, enjoy cooking!
Dried fenugreek leaves have to be added imparts a distinct aroma & taste. Fenugreek seeds have an intense pungent taste, will alter the taste of this dish.
With Paneer, don’t have to pressure cook. Make the sauce in saute setting, add the fried or pan fried paneer & cook in the sauce for a few minutes. Hope you’ll enjoy.
@@thasneen I even found a small local market that carries pretty much everything I could need so looking forward to trying more recipes from your channel.
Ginger- Garlic paste is available at Indian stores. If you don't have the paste, you can add grated garlic & ginger. Garam Masala is an aromatic spice mix- whole cardamom/cloves/cinnamon/mace grounded (some add other wholes spices too). I prefer homemade GM & make in small batches- it will be very fragrant. Here is the video, how to make homemade Garam masala: ua-cam.com/video/crgfOltdLwY/v-deo.html
Let us know if there is a way to see or print the ingredients on one screen. I love your recipes, but it would save a little time if I did not have to rewind and replay the video several times to list the ingredients.
On the description, I’ve shared the written recipe link on my blog. I’ve the recipe link for most of my videos. Please click that. Glad to know you love my recipes, thanks for your feedback :) Enjoy!
Garam masala is a blend of ground aromatic whole spices. I find store bought garam masala lacks aroma & flavour. Here is the easiest garam masala recipe with only a few whole spices: ua-cam.com/video/crgfOltdLwY/v-deo.html
This is for 2 servings. For 4 people, please double the recipe. Cooking time doesn't change, should be 8 minutes- the time to build the pressure will be more as more ingredients are added. Hope you enjoy this dish, do let me know how it turned out :)
If using boneless chicken pressure cook for just 5 minutes, will be soft & the chicken has to be completely defrosted. I sometimes pressure cook for 8 minutes & don’t find the chicken to be hard. Hope this helps 😊
I thought you were supposed to marinate the chicken pieces in yogurt and spices before cooking. At least three recipes I have seen before call for marinating the meat first.
@@thasneen I’m just learning and researching these foods. Yours is not the first video I found with no marinating the meat for butter chicken. Throughout history people have brought foods of their culture to new places, and sometimes changed the recipes to fit the ingredients available (or not) in their new home. I would also think maybe they changed recipes to save time, too. So I like that you found tomato soup to be a good substitute for canned or fresh tomatoes. I fell in love with butter chicken when I lived in the UK and a friend made it. Im trying to find a recipe and ingredients for living in California. Making it in the Instant pot is brilliant idea- Im just learning about what can be cooked in that as well!
Madam, I would like to make this, but I do not live in Asia. I have fenugreek seeds but please, where in the world would I get fenugreek LEAVES?????????? Also don't have garam masala on hand. Could you not take pity on those who would love to try these dishes, and give us some possible substitutes, etc? Could one use a 1/4 tsp ground fenugreek seed, which I CAN make myself? Can I easily make garam masala[s] with the 40 spices I DO have? People in INdia or Asia already KNOW how to make your dishes----if you want to help people discover your cuisine, help them out with ingredients not commonly in stores in the midwest...
Apparently these days garam masala is found in all the stores in the US & Canada. I live in Canada btw. Fenugreek leaves might not be available, only sold in Indian stores. You can absolutely skip adding fenugreek leaves, shouldn’t be replaced with fenugreek seeds will impart a strong pungent smell. Here is the recipe for making homemade garam masala with just 4 spices (this homemade garam masala is better than the store bought ones, give it a try), recipe: ua-cam.com/video/crgfOltdLwY/v-deo.html
Thanks

How long should we pressure cooker or adjust the recipe if we use it with paneer instead of chicken?
With Paneer, don’t have to pressure cook. Make the sauce in saute setting, add the fried or pan fried paneer & cook in the sauce for a few minutes. Hope you’ll enjoy.

Chicken thighs pressure cooked for 5 minutes. 8 minutes would work too, a bit overcooked.
