I actually thoroughly enjoyed this game, especially how I was just waiting for the other two prisoners to just be fodder, but surprisingly not. So now my inner nerd is interested in act two with those weird alien headcrab things piloting those bodies in that lab.

I had a couple of thoughts:
- Who the hell is funding this prison?
- How does the protagonist know the guard he took the cig from and smoked didn't have herpes?
Haha! I guess if there's a mutant rat and head-crabs scurrying around the prison then herpes it the least of your worries! :)

As for the first question, I'd assume some despotic government; I'm guessing the scientists were experimenting on ways to pass on the strengths of rats to people, which is actually logical since rats are some tough and versatile little mofos (burrowing, disease resistance, powerful teeth + jaws, all of which the rat monster exhibits in some way throughout the game).

Why does he try to kill the prisoners though? he's still clearly intelligent, so youd think he'd have no reason to just attack and kill everyone (unless he was always so insane and violent)

Even for a demo this game looks and works very impressive. Loving the old Prince of Persia vibe with layout of puzzles, The Thing reference with spider-head and Alien vibe going on with rat-thing. :)

This is a pretty insane prison complex. Aside from the inhumane expiriments they have lakes of acid, an underground medieval dungeon with skeletons, and pools of blood

Not much they could have done against the armed guard, Five was just trying to not make his friend feel bad for leaving him, but in the second time they see him, he sees an opportunity to save him, and he does
First off, love how the prisoners scurry and avoid him like rats.
Secondly, the rat mutant looked kinda cute in the title screen (rodents are cute in general), pity he's kinda an asshole. XD

@@banann_ducc Rats in general or the mutant? Cos rats are just cute with tiny little curious faces and such. The mutant, I dunno, his face is oddly softer than you'd expect for something strangling a dude. Instead of sharp shades and strokes, the artist kinda blurred the fur, so he ends up looking fluffier and more adorable instead of threatening.
It could just be me, I find a lot of things cute that others don't.

This looks a videogame adaptation to a Sci-fi horror B-movie that came out around the mid 1990s to early 2000s.
I love all the details like taking their time to smoke a cigarette, opening the handcuffs, etc. The other NPC survivors' actions are very well integrated in the gameplay. This does really feels like a DOS game from 90's. Only bad thing is that some animations are too stiff. I hope this is finished some day.

Also, your character must've been experimented on already: he's got that bandage on his head 'cause now he sees possible futures, and that's how he can "replay" sections of the game: he saw the "bad endings."

Oh you think your prison system is broken? It's not really broken until you've got spike and death traps in the corridors, a pool of radioactive liquid, prisonner executed at random and human experiment conducted on prisonner that turn them into zombie or frigging vampire rat.
You know they have problems when they care more about putting a random escapee in the electric chair rather than trying to stop and contain a rat monster that rampages through the complex, killing everyone indiscriminately xD
I like how there is a rat mutant slaughtering the guards and prisoners, but no one can get a stay of execution.
Ikr you'd think they'd have better things to do than worry about which death row inmate gets their first.
This one was absolutely amazing. The color and sound made this a terrifying experience in terms of gameplay and atmosphere. Just added it to my wishlist, I hope it gets released soon.

There is some great pixel work going on here. This game looks and FEELS old school.
I absolutely love that some of your deaths happen completely by chance. Like how you don't know which locker to hide in because the rat monster inspects one of them and just stands in front of the other one for a bit. There are too many horror games these days that tell you when you're about to die these days. Ruins the shock of it.

I think this game could have some multiplayer potential (especially that part where the two prisoners had to fetch the door "keys"). Intriguing setup so far can't wait to see what the finished product looks like.

A pixel game with Prince of Percia gameplay style, which looks a Flash online puzzle game but have an Out of This World vibe.... interesting.
also why the hell was this prison built over what i can only describe as a medieval catacombs, complete with traps, an ancient artifact, and a magically-reanimated skeleton that can turn you into a skeleton?

The gameplay reminds me of Prince of Persia. The very old version.
Ok, so during the injection scene, at 1:02, you can see that once no 2 was injected, the next inmate (3) laughed. And then 3 mutated into the rat creature when injected and knocking 4 down, and also broke one of the containment cages containing a mouse.
This game reminds me or the ER patient thypon game...tbh. can't wait to see the full game!

actually the version the rat sang its a brazilian version not a twisted one :D in Brazil is "Uni duni tê" and since the creators are brazilians it's a cool reference

I fully agree. Mainly of Another World / Out of this World if you ask me (and a little bit of Prince of persia). That cinematic touch, plus a permanent feeling that the world around is of unknown nature and cannot be mastered.
That intro is just amazing. I was hooked just on hearing the guard shout "GO!"

Random take, but the way everything is drawn in this reminds me of early Yahtzee Croshaw games like the Chzo Mythos games, which is neat.
I dunno that first things with the locker feels kind of arbitrary, how are you suposed to know that he'll choose the hird locker and that you should hide in the fourth instead unless you've already died to this sequence of event ? Same with the fifty/fifty chance lever.
Also this catacomb part feels like it's right out of the first prince of persia (aaand kinda complelty out of place compaed to the rest...)
Well yeah, that goes for every wrong path you take and ending up getting killed, it's just trial and error.
And seeing how messed up this prison is where people are being used as test with alien sperm, i wouldn't be surprised if the owner wanted to give the prisoners a chance to escape by passing by spiked balls and spikes
Devs are heavily inspired by the DOS era Prince of Persia game, from the way characters grab onto ledges, doors opening and closing, and the traps.
Did a little searching, found out they're Brazillian, which is a fun thing, because here in Portugal I remember playing that game a lot too.
