I don't know how anyone can listen to The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and say... hmm, Taylor would go back to that man. Have we listen to the same song?? This woman would never forgive him for what he did and put her through, you don't write a song like this to leave the door open smh how so many people can misunderstood the song....
Everyone has their own interpretations of songs..are yall new to society? Yall get too mad over a difference in perception of a song like it’s not serious, at all. This isn’t live or die. Relax! They’d probably question how you listened to the same songs in which she expressed how she felt about him and how determined she was to not care about what YALL had to say and yet determine that she WOULDNT ever do so. 🙄

I think with the Charlie puth lyric and the lyrics before and after it she’s making fun of matty like the whole song she’s saying “you act like you’re this tortured artist with your type writers and aesthetic but look at what we’re doing we’re just getting high and eating chocolate and talking about Charlie puth” cause she also calls them modern idiots and that they’re NOT Dylan Thomas and Patti smith
But Daddy I Love Him is actually about 3 relationships. The first verse is a relationship she had when she was young teen, the second is Matty and the last one where her "daddy just loves him" and "no you can't come to the wedding" is Travis.
omg in noooo wayyyy would taylor leave travis and go back to matty!!! first of all they broke up almost a year ago... and in "the smallest man who ever lived" she literally says "i'll forget you, but i'll never forgive." she also said in her IG caption that that chapter is closed and done with!!!
she basically described the whole matty situation as a manic episode in her album intro prologue. he love bombed her, gave her false promises when she was so vulnerable after her breakup with joe, and ghosted her.

A lot of swifties/stans are just that, l*sers, lol. They sent Bri from BFFs podcast hate comments too for saying the record sounded the same to her. Not even Taylor fcks with these stans according to what she’s alluded to on the record and that’s totally reasonable since the excessive degree to which they take their parasocial relationships are crazed and entitled. Them getting mad about an individuals opinion of a record which is completely subjective is truly and hilariously unserious and deluded. Ria shouldn’t be afraid. They’re not gonna do anything but cry and act small online and unless you take that kinda stuff hard, you really shouldn’t care.

maroon is about Jake! the fact that the song red and maroon are both track 2s and red is obviously about Jake. also Taylor liked a tiktok about maroon being a reflection on that relationship
I think this album is amazing, one of her most well written. Very sad, very honest, extremely heartbreaking and I think that is why I liked So High School and The Alchemy so much. They were like the only love songs on the whole album, so listening to them was like taking a much needed breather from the dark and heavy emotions. Even the upbeat sound of I Can Do It With a Broken Heart (which I love!) still had some pretty sad lyrics. Great review of the album by the way, very honest and thoughtful! It was fun to watch!

It doesn't have to be your favourite album, mine is still folklore and speak now, but it's definitely a good third. Maybe it'll grow on me to be second but never first. Plus this album was never meant to be for casual listeners, it's for Taylor, she needed to make this album to cope with whatever she was going through and it's for swifties who care deeply about her and know her lore...

You guys are crazy about her leaving Trav for Matty. She calls out his lovebombing were this rat used all his knowledge of her and Joe to promise everything shes ever wanted and then when he actually gets her he treats her like shit and ghosts. In the prologue she says that Joe and Matty were actually the same type of shitty men. Both made empty promises but one of them was a calculated abuser. She hates that man.
I 100%agree with the songs all sounding so similar…I think an artist can argue that’s “cohesive” but I struggle with it. They are all so mellow

In my first listen, I was kinda bored and the songs seemed way too slow and the same as each other. Oddly, the 2nd listen they all sounded completely different to me and peppier. By the third time, I had a bunch of favorites and loved most of it. I think the reason this one is taking awhile to catch hold of us is because it's so specific to HER rather than something we can plop into being about OUR life. The events are specific with details like a diary. I think that's it. Something like Shake it Off or Lover or lots of others, we can put ourselves and our experiences into it and sing it about OUR lives too. TPD has fewer songs we can do that with. The songs are far more story than repetitive beats/lyrics too so it takes us time to learn the story. It's a LOT of words about specific events. I do love it more each time I listen though, so we'll get there. It's a very full meal and will take time to digest it. lol We expected dinner and drinks and she gave us a full Thanksgiving Dinner with a therapy session and we're on the floor moaning. haha
I agree. By my 4th listen, I started to hear the songs differently. Now I love it!
The fact that a lot of the songs are starting to sound the same is definitely attributable to Jack Antonoff. I know they have a formula for success but people are right, he might be starting to hold Taylor back.

Fran lash lift products slightly brighten your lashes so you should always go for a tint with that treatment. My hair never holds a curl but lash lifts work a treat for me. Maybe try a different brand or salon, sounds like a therapist problem.
From what I can piece together, I think she never actually dated Healy back then, just knew him and had a big crush on him but schedules and timing just never worked out to date, but she knew him as a fun time and he adored her so he was the perfect rebound, get my mojo back guy after the Joe breakup. I think they probably talked or texted a good bit over the years, but never actually dated and even this time, the beginning was talking and it was only physical for 2 weeks of those couple months, but she really thought since she'd been thinking about him so long, maybe it was 'something' and was mad that 'we' were so upset about it and saw something she didn't. Never meet your heroes though, lol, she soon realized he's better in concept than reality and the smoking and drugs and controversial behavior just isn't what she's willing to be about or connected with. He was a great rebound, but that's all it was destined to be. Thanks for the mojo...Next!
14/31 of Taylor Swift songs in the album are in C Major. She uses that key a lot historically in many of her newer albums so maybe that’s why many of the songs sounded the same.
This album is not hitting for you yet because you are preparing to get married and this is heart wrenching

To me the best thing about this album is the raw emotion she finally expressed. I'm glad she got it all out and it looks like she is moving on.
Vulnerable album from Taylor so I appreciate it and maybe the album will grow on me. Definitely ready for Taylor to get out of the forest, sad girl vibes. Life is too short to stay there for too long. I have always wanted a straight up rock album from her playing electric guitar and hitting us with some edgy lyrics and that voice we all know she has in her. Just rocking out next to The Agency having a blast letting in all out.

No way would she go back to Matty. You need to listen to the smallest man who ever lived again. And so many songs are not just about one person. Matty was gaslighting her and she romanticized the what ifs when she was at her lowest of lows with Joe and she was at the should I stay or should I go stage of that relationship.

The alien abduction scheme throughout Down Bad... i mean the way she uses being beamed up, cosmic, waiving at the sky, looking up hoping he comes back, building on a different planet and helping people here comprehend it, waiving at the ship hoping it picks her back up, being left in a field naked and stranded cause he kept her clothes, people will say shes crazy if she tells them about his existence, close encounters, hostile take overs, and a bunch of other alien shit giving me an alien abduction theme throughout while telling me a true story about the dude she was with last summer! Thats some Eminem shit or something! And she rhymes like a rapper too, she uses inter rhyming as well as traditionally rhyming, and switches up how often as well as how much (number of inter rhymes) to create a bounce and switch up her sound... that songs unbelievable!

@@alliee8488 so putting aside she literally thanks "Aimee" in the track, the actual tape proving Taylor was not lying only came out a couple of years ago, and Kim never apologized for her part in what happened. She put out a highly edited recording to make it look like Taylor was a liar and never once took accountability for it and still (as of last week) shades Taylor on social media. To you, it is just "drama", but to someone who literally had the world calling her a liar and a snake (it was because of this situation that IG added the limiting comments option --that is how bad the hate on her was) she literally fled the country, the kind of trauma that can have on someone is not something you get over easily and shapes your life and how you look at the world. She doesnt name drop North, she makes a joke about how North likes her music. And "wanting you dead" is literally a turn of phrase, I am sure her mom didnt literally want her dead, but if you are parent, watching your kid go through what Taylor went through would bring out the LION in you. Releasing this song is literally not even 1% of what Kim has done to her.

You meet Taylor and she likes you. To be fair, she behaves like she is the ugliest girl in the planet when in reality she is gorgeous. As the mastermind she is she makes sure she gets him. And he gets dazzled by her and probably his people saw it as a great opportunity. He probably was not so sure of that being what he wanted. He wants to make a name for himself, he wants to feel like he is good enough to make it on his own. Taylor wants him and it is convenient for her to not be seen too much so she is OK with the down low while he figures out what he wants. On cornelia street she says “I thought you were leading me on”. He was unsure of wanting that relationship. Who can blame him? Then it blossoms and he compromises and says we are together. Promoting his 3rd or 4th movie they just ask him about her. Have you seen a movie by Joe Alwyn? Do you know how good or bad actor is he? Didn’t Sophie Turner complained that lately some acting roles were giving to whomever had the most instagram followers? Joe in that relationship sacrificed a lot more than Taylor. Taylor knows that! During their time together she was trying to reassure him that whatever they have is “it”. On Lover “this is our house we make the rules”. Is it really their house? Did they bought it with their money? It was probably her house and he felt like that. The line it stuck the most was “at every table I save you a seat”. Does he really want the seats she is saving for him or he wants a seat because he earned it? How insecure it would make you feel to think that you are getting jobs just because who you date. She was the wrong person or the right person at a wrong time. But like Taylor says: who could ever leave her? TTPD is not a supper diss to Joe because deep down Taylor knows how much he gave just by being with her. Have you googled his name? Is all about Taylor, for the first page. Even at Kelly Clarkson’s where people can really talk about their projects he was asked about the music he made with Taylor. I am sure he was not invited there to promote folklore or evermore. He will never be 25 again new to NYC trying to make it. She took that from him.

TSMWEL is about when Matty had his drug addiction back in 2016. He had a breakdown at one of his shows . I believe she put this in the album to show how long the relationship has been going on. He has been clean for 5/7 years. That’s the problem I have with the song you don’t weaponize a person addiction struggle. Her fans will use this and add fuel to the crazy fire .

Since the breakup so many things have been suspicious from hard launching the now relationships they have now. Just days from each other and so many more crazy stuff.

I'm actually not sure if The Alchemy is about Travis... I doubt the bridge refers to the Super Bowl moment because she said back on tour that she had had to turn the album in months before the release because it takes a long time to make vinyls etc. So the album was probably done at the end of 2023 (So High school could probably be about Travis and it was finished later because the songs from The Anthology aren't on CDs and Vinyls). The football references are just what Taylor loves (let's just look at Miss Americana & You belong with me). And the heroine mention... I actually think it's another Matty song 🙃
The heroin(e) line is a joke about how Matty was more interested in heroin while the only drug Travis wants is Taylor. She also retweeted a review that specifically says The Alchemy is a Travis song.
