Indian passengers are the highest in numbers flying through Dubai International Airport, it was about 2.46 million in 2023. However UAE do not extend Visa On Arrival facility for Indian Citizens. So Indian tourists first preference will be the Countries which honor them with Visa On Arrival Facility. Last year Indians visited Bankgok was 1.62 million. Combined number of tourists to Bangok, Malidives, Bali from India was about 1 million and these tourist destinations offer visa on Arrival facility for Indians. So people prefer to visit these places since no Visa headaches for them. If the Gulf Countries, especially Dubai relax visa restrictions, they will get 50% more of Tourists from India.

I’ve been there to visit it and for that purpose I then chose a flight that took off from there instead than DXB. Currently it’s a massive, empty site with one active runway, a micro-terminal and only bus transfers from the latter to the aircraft. It is indeed designed to become what is shown in this video eventually, but it’s very far from the city, so if they want to use it as an airport for Dubai as well (and not just for transit / connecting flights) they have to build a very fast railway, like HSL, if they want to win resistances to abandon the current DXB. Which is one of the nicest airports in the world, so DWC must also become at least just as nice, if it is to eventually replace DXB.
@@user-bn9pq5wv3o well, yes, not a single airport can possibly be in a city center, but the matter is how far it is from the city. In the case of DWC, it is extremely far away. And it will need for sure a high-speed train to be competitive and reach Dubai city in a short time. The distance from the city is a variable which is normally factored in, when planning a new airport. There were plans about building a new major airport servicing Paris, that would’ve been over 100 km far from the city; in the end, it was scrapped, because it was deemed to be too far
