The canonical religion of Gallowmere is Christianity. All the skull decorations would make a lot of sense if they were Catholic.
Medievil was a game released for the PlayStation in 1998. Despite only ever playing a demo of it back then (although I played that demo A LOT), it made a big impression on me.

There is in fact, Medievil Speedruns. They mostly revolve around using geometry jumps to skip as much of the game as possible.
