Thankyou so much for these videos. It has made my rebuild so much easier. I grinded the stepped knuckle off of two old injector studs and used them for guides when putting the cam carrier back on. I was terrified of smearing sealant into the oil galleries.
Thank you very much for those videos. I 've a Peugeot 207 with an engine leaking oil. The garage told me that the car is for scrapping but I know perfectly well from your video that the problem comes from what you show in your videos. I will try to repair it myself. Thank you very much again!
Hello Mark. Very strange that BMW did not see the need to dowel the cam cover. The mini cooper petrol was doweled on the cam bearing caps. The black clingfilm was a master stroke. I have never seen that product before. Great job as always.
Thank you for the comment Neil. They say there are a couple of tools that fit into the two openings for alignment but I couldn't find them. Fair bit of movement isn't there. I think it's like a pallet wrap Neil.
@@CoatsandGaiters Hello again Mark. Thanks the quick response. It's really annoying having to buy special tools you only use once. It seems to getting like that these days . I will have to keep a eye out for the clingfilm, I have only seen the clear stuff for wrapping pallets.

Hi, I am up to part 12 of this series and I have just applied the sealant to my cover exactly as you have in the video, however when I place the cam carrier onto the block it gives the sensation of being warped, if I push one side down there is a gap at the other end, I don't want to tighten anything down and put the cover under pressure, I have since removed the cover and removed all the silicone why I try and find aa answer to this. Thanks in advance Ian
I decided to continue with fixing it down and it lined up perfectly no lips and does not seem under pressure. Very odd design but that’s the French for you. Keep up the good work, not seen anything in about 5 months are you taking a break. 💁
Good cars and I do like the Peugeot engine models .. Had mine for about 6 years on a 08 plate .. 170,000 Miles now ,I have put 90,000 on her .. Wear as expected Turbo has now gone ,going to cost about £1,600 with the DPF clean.. tbh car prob not worth the money to do, but having a full service history from new and I have had a new cam chain fitted 6 months ago , new duel mass clutch also 2 years ago ..plus just having the camel bag replaced etc etc also had all engine oil gaskets done on the engine 3 years ago ( Basically any issues she has had, I have had done in the garage straight away ) .. .. Sounds a lot of work and cost .. but my Motto is if you look after your car ( your car will look after you ) Great interesting vids thanks 👍... I am sure she will give me another 100,00 miles 😃
Good to hear such a high mileage as I would like to go back to one of these Mini's with that engine if I can one day. Mine developed a bad knocking sound and I had to sell it off cheap. Was comfortable and the engine was very perky while it lasted.
I’ve done all this but when it’s tightening down it’s locking up against the pistons, what position is the crank in? Mine is at TDC pinned with the 5mm pin
@@CoatsandGaiters I’ll double check now, it had thrown the belt off and the ring what you pin though on the crank was off. So I’ve kinda had to try work out the position of the pistons 🤦🏼♂️
Hi mark. There are grooves on the sides of the cam carrier. At the chain side for example these grooves snake from top to bottom of that side. Mainly at each end. Are these oil ways or should you put sealant in them. Thanks for any help!

Thank you. I leave a link in my video descriptions on all the tools I use in the videos. Hope this helps.
Well any old gasket material must be cleaned away gently. Try not to be too aggressive though or damage the mating surfaces.
Good content, thank you very much.
Thank you

Hi Andy, can you give me a time code for the part your looking at so I don't guess wrong.
