i am always laughing when i see people hating on BYD or chinese cars in general. i am german. driving a BYD tang DM with 650hp and 1000Nm torque for 6 years now. amazing car. never let me down. took me home 150km after a hard crash on the highway due to debris on street. whole front got ripped off but that thing kept going! the hybrid drive is fantastic. loads of power. 4.1sec from 0-100km/h. great offroad. and just a nice big 7 seater family car i can take everybody to travel. charge it in my garage at night is so convenient. then i often see people are soooo angry on youtube about how terrible and dangerous these cars are. bad quality. battery will be on fire blablabla! 🤣 getting close to 200.000km and i will sell it soon to get the newest version of the same exact car again. meanwhile in 2 days my xiaomi SU7 max will arrive and i can pick it up. looking forward to that. what i can say from experience: for the price tag they call up here for these cars you get ALOT nice features. if i talk to people in germany how terrible the car market is there and prices they want for mediocre electric cars without any features i think germany or europe in general can pack up soon and go home. they got nothing! BYD will be big worldwide very soon.
Thanks Alexander for a really good summary of where Japan are relative to China in the EV world. Toyota have really lost the plot, wasting billions on the hydrogen nonsense. It's a shame as I've owned Toyotas in the past which have been very reliable. Since 2019 I've been driving a Kia e-Niro which has been a revelation in terms of low running costs and so far faultless after 110,000 km.
